NAMM 2017 Blog
The Serato Squad started the day in Anaheim, California for Day one of the NAMM 2017 convention. Located in the massive convention centre the 4 day event is spread out on several floors and thousands of square feet of floor space.
There was a lot of interest in the many new products on display for the first time, such as the Reloop RMX90 4 channel mixer that was getting worked over in real life for all to see by the legendary Chris Karns. That poor fader had its fair share of abuse to prove it’s durability.
The Roland Booth on the Second floor was jam packed with superstar DJ’s and producers like LA Legend Battlecat who took a liking to the Roland DJ808 and had a quick impromptu Jam on it with Dj Descry to assist.
The Beat Junkies, Jazzy Jeff and a collection of “The Playlist Retreat” Alumni, (Stro Elliot, Eric Lau, Excel, Ferno, Dayne Jordan and Daniel Crawford) where there to witness the Beat Junkie’s Melo D put the DJ808 through its paces from a turntablist and beat junkie perspective.
If you were downstairs you would have also got a chance to check out the Canadian 2016 3style Champ Trapment demo the DJM-S9 at the Pioneer Booth, which also had the brand new DDJ-SZ2 on display along with the newly supported NXS2 kit working with Serato DJ.
Finally over at the MIXARS booth Eliza May, Big Wiz and some guest DJ’s all jamming out in between. There was the new QUATTRO on display too.
Roland had Sinden closed the evening out with an incredible performance utilizing the Sequencer and Sampler on the 808 flexing his production chops live.
It was great to see lots of familar faces at the show, shout out to our friends at DJ City and Rekordbuddy.
