Team Serato are on the first leg of our journey to Movement in Detroit, MUTEK in Montreal and Sonar in Barcelona. On the way we stopped in LA to catch up with some of our friends. Day one was spent with The Gaslamp Killer, who helped us to recover from our jetlag by taking us to these amazing gardens called at the Self Realization Fellowship. He gave us a cool bedroom demo at his house too. NIce.
The next day we went out to the RTI vinyl pressing plant, who press the Serato Pressings and control tone records. You know the ones, they go "doooooooo". We also got a guided tour of the plant and got to see how records are made. It was kinda like heaven, so many awesome old titles and great new music. Long live vinyl!
The day was topped of nicely by a dinner with some of our pals at STOKYO and Z-Trip. We've been wanting to check out the famous Low End Theory club night for ages, so we made our wish come true. A great night with stellar DJ sets from guests Poirier, Baths, MONO/POLY and residents D-Styles, Daddy Kev and Nobody. What made the night even more awesome, was when Z-Trip jumped up on the stage with D-Styles for an impromptu scratch set together. Two legends at a legend night. Check out the (admittedly shaky) video.
Thanks LA, you've been great. The next leg of our journey is in Detroit, where we'll be at the Movement festival, checking out some of the best electronic music Detroit and the world has to offer. We're especially looking forward to seeing our Serato friends A-Trak, Mark Ernestus, Recloose, Martyn and Hudson Mohawke in action. Plus we're helping out with a couple of great side parties which, if you're in the Detroit area, you gotta check out. I Love You But I've Chosen Techno and All in the Family. PARTY! Keep your eyes on the blog for more updates from the madness.
