Learn: SLICER

What is the Slicer?

Slicer is available to all Serato Remote users as well as those with supported hardware, and is a software feature that allows you to chop a section of your track into 8 slices on the fly, which are then controlled using the 8 pads available on your controller (or the 8 on-screen pads in Serato Remote). This can be done either throughout the track, 8 slices at a time or within a loop.

For specific hardware controls, please read your device Quickstart Guide.

How can I use it?

Slicer can be used in a number of ways. Firstly, it's great to add some interest to minimal drum heavy tracks - try using it to perform little fills / rolls at the end of the bar. Jungle heads will instantly recognise the potential for this to bash out super fun Amen edits too!

Using this on vocals can be interesting as well as a way of chopping acapellas and looping over another track but while keeping some interest and randomness as you can replay slices on the fly.

Also try using the Slicer for a great chopped and screwed effect. Pitch you track down and set the repeat rate to either one of half a beat and use this for that slow, low and banging vibe.
