Can't access Sixty-Two's preference pane under Mac's system Preferences

djtrackie 7:50 AM - 13 September, 2012
It keeps saying

"To use the “Sixty-Two Audio Control Panel” preferences pane, System Preferences must quit and reopen."

Then it reopens and then shows me the same message.

Hhave you tried sutting down SSL with the 62 left powered on? It should work with SSL off and the mixer on.

Sixty-Two Audio Control Panel does not work under 10.8 (or at the very least - it does exactly the same on my system). Rane's working on a 10.8 compatible Core Audio Driver.

Yes.. this is a known issue.
We have updated drivers that are getting tested as we speak.
I will be able to get them to anyone who needs them as soon as they are done being tested.
Possibly by the end of the week.

good one!

(any news on that mysterious subject of USB Class 2 Compliancy (with iPads), by the way?)

I forwarded the lead engineer that website you linked me to to check it out but I know he's extremely busy with other things. Nothing new on that front atm.

Zach,

that was two weeks ago. They're still testing?

Yes.. testing is taking longer than expected.
Sorry bout the wait. It really shouldn't be much longer.
swavek 3:22 PM - 15 October, 2012
Zach - if the drivers have indeed been updated on Sept 19, and Rane's STILL testing them, perhaps you could use some help?

Zach, are those CA drivers going to fix the kernel panic issue when unplugging the mixer or inserting a cd into a mac?

No. Both of those are on the Scratch Live software side of things.

Hey Zach,

Played a gig last night on OS X 10.8.2 w/ SSL 2.4.3 and a SL3 and the beta driver and I kept having one of the audio channels dropping out. The waveforms would move with the NoiseMap but the mixer got no audio. Happened 5 times in 4 hours. I don't have any corrupt mp3s in my library and everything was calibrated correctly. Had to reboot SSL to resolve the issue each time.

Could this be an issue with the beta driver or would the problem lie elsewhere?

I searched the forums for this and see a lot of postings over the last few years but few definitive solutions.

Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks so much.

My guess is corrupt files crashing the decoders.
Please hold down the ctrl key and click the 'analyze files' tab.
This will force SSL to reanalyze every file in your library.
Once done, look through your 'all' section for any corrupt files found.

Know that various versions of SSL may handle files differently.
One version may tag a file as being corrupt and one may not, or vice versa.
Because of that we always recommend to reanalyze your entire library anytime you update to a new version.

My guess is you will find some corrupt files which are causing this issue.
Andrei Matei 12:17 AM - 11 December, 2012
Zach,

Excellent insight. I found 3-4 corrupt files in the All database. It so happened that I DJ'ed with 4 other people that night and they all dumped their playlists on my computer since we were going one-for-one round-robin style. Someone was the culprit! Not me. ;) Even though we didn't play any of the corrupt files, those files just merely sitting in the library could cause this you say? That's really interesting, and if so, relives all my worry for my upcoming weekend show.

Let me know and thanks again for all of your excellent expertise.
