Hi Serato team, since Vestax Spin is exactly like Vestax Typhoon do you think you could recognize this hardware as well? I would love having this to work on tracks when I'm away from my full Scratch Live setup. I've been having to deal with a crappy Tracktor interface for way too long.
Thanks for always supporting your community! I was an early adopter, it's amazing how my SL1 is still strong standard.

I have a SPIN - vestax, I tried but it doesn't work! I am so sorry...

I would have bought a Typhoon if I knew Serato was going to support it, it cost less, but the colors were crappy. Hopefully they'll support it or someone will figure out how to enable it. I would like all my djing to work in one family.

Hey guys,
There's been a bit of chat about this. Let me just reiterate that the Spin is not a supported controller for Dj Intro. The best thing you can do at this stage is contact Vestax and let them know of your requests for this to happen.
Thanks!
Mathew

does Vestax have a forum? I think we can create a high demand. the Vestax Spin has been out for a long time without a professional software solution.

Hi, I am going to email to Vestax support centre: spin@vestax.jp

Among all the controllers for Intro, I think vcl-4 is the best. It has more professional features on it and more especially xrl output, 2 external input to connect cd players etc. Can't wait for it to go on sale. Common Vestax !!!!! My 2 cents here.

Hope EVERYONE can write to Vestax something similar to this, feel free to modify:
To Vestax,
Thanks for making a solid budget controller like Vestax Spin for the Mac community. I use the controller often to teach basics of DJing to the next generation of young DJs. Recently the DJ community's favorite standard software solution, Serato, has released Serato Intro which supports an identical controller, Vestax Typhoon. Can you please also allow them to support Vestax Spin as well? This would make the hardware much more attractive for new buyers out there and help those who have invested in adopting this controller into their set of DJ tools.
Thanks for your consideration,

or another route would be to be mean and say something like "support Serato DJ intro or we'll have to buy Numark Mixtrack Pros." haha. which is actually true for me. it's only about 150.

I thought the SPIN controller was a bundled with www.algoriddim.com ?
Guessing algoriddim is making license money on this controller just like Serato would make it on the others? .... Or am I missing something here?

djay is not a industry standard like Serato is. The only reason we bought Spin over Typhoon was because it looked better.

I do see your point, was actually considering getting a Vestax Spin myself when it first came out, just for bringing on holidays etc. (2x1210 & SixtyEight makes overweight on the plane...)
Was just pointing out what might be the reason Spin is not supported in Intro currently...

It very well be a license agreement Vestax has with that software company preventing Serato from includng the Spin in their lineup.

Audible

Yeah, I understood that, but consumers have power, which is why Serato said we should ask them if you read the previous posts. Djay is not the only software that can support Vestax Spin, so if they want our business, they should support the demand, if there is any. Hopefully. I think there's a lot of people who use Vestax Spin.

you know serato, you could enable it and not "officially support" it. eh?
worth a shot.
on a brighter note, vestax spin now works with an ipad as of today.

Spin is dedicated to DJAY. I suspect that licensing agreements means that Spin will never work with DJ Intro, which is why the Typhoon does work with DJ Intro.

The main problem for me as a pro DJ is that djay's interface is so different than serato which I use for gigs. It confuses me switching back and forth. I'd gladly pay for a DJ intro solution. I use spin currently with Tracktor.

There is a DJ Intro solution you can pay for.
It's called the Vestax Typhoon.

Ok, sorry about that, my bad.
As you stated you were a pro DJ, I assumed you had some income from this.
Still, I'd say the price of today's controllers is minimal compared to the traditional costs of DJing. ie turntables, mixer, and vinyl every week.
Best of luck with selling the spin / saving up, and please report back once you get the typhoon, Id love to hear some more opinions on that one.

Hey Everyone,
I have an idea. You could use the Mac's MIDI utility to change the name of the SPIN controller to the name of the TYPHOON controller. So it now says "SPIN DJ - Controller" and you could edit it to be "TYPHOON DJ - Controller". This may be enough for IDJ to think its actually talking to a Typhoon and not a Spin. Just a thought. Let me know what happens if you try it.

Don't think it's that easy. There are many more hardware identifiers than the name you say in the MIDI utility.

even if we could make it work, i guess it would be disrespectful to the licensing agreements between serato and vestax. i'm just kicking myself for not buying typhoon over spin, it just looked uglier. still hoping serato would get into having a paid option solution.

I have my Vestax Spin working with DJ Inro. It took a little editing but I say shame on them both for not making this compatible. It's essentially the same darn hardware

Audible

@cyberphox if you read the conversation, it's a matter of licensing between serato and vestax to develop a software that is given for free. mostly vestax fault since serato seems willing if they had their blessing.

ok...well then shame on Vestax then. I have it about 95% functional, so I'm happy. Great to use on the side when I don't want to break out the Tech 12's and SL1
