Songs for the ladies that dont suck - 2010

djdalite 8:41 PM - 22 October, 2010
Lately it seems like its been tougher to find danceable chic songs that aren't completely terrible

Kesha seems played out
Theres Rhianna but her new song its super pop techno ish (which girls in my area hate, unless its been played on the radio 1,000 x)
Beyonce? i got a few tight remixes but nothing new comes to mind
Lady Gaga - kinda played out, newer stuff sucks
Toot it n boot it - song sucks imo but chics like
Katy Perry, teenage dream make me want to kill somebody

I was wondering whats flyin in your area with the ladies? my one bartender always suprises me with songs i wouldn't normally play or never heard - but they usually turn out to be kind of ghetto or so slow it just would kill the dance-floor

just been kind of in a rut with lady jamz

any tracks that are killin it for you?
Dj-M.Bezzle 8:54 PM - 22 October, 2010
im acutually wondering the same thing lol glad im not alone. Typically ive been playing all hood under 80 bpm music and girly pop stuff thats gettin kinda old...all the new songs everyone wants to hear isnt really danceable but people in my area bitch to high heaven if you play a dance remix.

Im trying to think of more girly stuff for my gig tonight as typically i end up with more of a guy crowd.
djdalite 9:02 PM - 22 October, 2010
word, ya im spinin tonight as well tryin to put a lil set together for the ladyz

on weekends we have a go go girl dancin so she doesnt mind the uptempo dance remixes, which helps the other girls get more into it

but then its like, let me hear - toot n boot it or some or some hood shit or some slow ass r&b - shit just doesnt flow - im all about going outside the box but some of this stuff is just not hot

i have had similarites with my crowds. i have found that hittin all the ja rule from the 2000s era and all the chingy etc from that era seems to keep the girls happy. it also hleps to because it works well with some of the crunk and mid range tempo stuff that has seem to be forgotten by most djs here in australia which keeps the dudes just as happy ASWELL.

i dnt know but thats whats working for me.
Joshua Carl 4:38 PM - 24 October, 2010
pretty much anything with Nikki Minaj (which is every 3rd song)

and all that R&B flav stuff..trey songs, usher... and reggae.
girls love reggae....from the whitest lil sorority girl, to the most down hood-rat
you drop a reggae set....chicks will be happy.

Reggae songs that work for me (top 40, mainstream crowds, Berlin, Germany):
All the Sean Paul and Shaggy hits+ Murder she wrote + Serani - No games + .... + all the Seeed stuff (Germany Reggae/Dancehall Band) + Bob Marley mix it with some Reggaeton and some R&B/Dancehall and you good to go
Jensen Määäm 5:11 PM - 24 October, 2010
Basically all mainstream Reggae/Dancehall hits, can't go to deep if I don't wanna swipe the floor...
Nicki Minaj didn't really hit Germany, crazy huh, I guess you guys in the US won't believe it, but radio is sleeping on her for years now...they don't play her stuff, they might start with the Will I Am & Nicki Minaj song.
What they do love hear is all that Kesha, Katy Perry, Pitbull, Usher, We no speak no Americano, Guetta, BEP, Pussycat Dolls, Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Jason Derulo, Taio Cruz, Rihanna, Ne-Yo, Justin Timberlake, Flo Rida,...you know what I'm talking about straight Top 40 Hip Pop Dance Hits, the girls love it, guys do too. I can play some dirty south stuff too, but than 2/3 of the people will leave the dance floor. I pack it with the Pop ish!

I am tracking on all the artist you mentioned but who is Guetta and what song does he/she sing. I have a somewhat set playlist that i play at corporate and mixed events and those are most of the artist that are in the set along with the old school classics and line dances.

David Guetta is a french house music producer, he has worldwide success with his poppy mainstream house productions for more than 10 years now. He does albums, but because he is a producer he needs artists to sing on his tracks:
David Guetta feat. Akon - Sexy bitch
David Guetta feat. Kelly Rowland - When loves takes over
David Guetta feat. Kid Cudi - Memories
David Guetta feat. Chris Willis - Love don't let me go
...
DJ ENUF 6:58 PM - 25 October, 2010
^^^cant forget b.e.p.'s I Gotta Feeling
which sounds suprizingly like Memories
Djaward 7:38 PM - 25 October, 2010

i was talkin about current hits or recent in the last year or so

i can play some poppy sounding house but it doesnt go over well with the crowd - my go go dancers dont mind it
Mighty Dragon Sounds 3:40 PM - 26 October, 2010
Gyptian - Hold Yuh is still a hot chune even though its been over a year since I started playing it.

Tarrus Riley - Good Girl gone bad

Tarrus Riley - Superman

Tarrus Riley - She's Royal

A few of our local Calypso Bands really get the ladies moving.
djbigboy 3:53 PM - 26 October, 2010
What i am getting out of this thread is that the original poster wants to know what female songs are djs playing that are above 80bpm but below 120. if you break it down, there's not really a ton of hits in these bpms for the Top 40/Hip Hop crowd...if you can get away with playing the new Shakira "loca", that might be some new flavor. But I hear what you are saying. I get a bunch of requests for hip hop but there's really not like a ton of hits. I was hoping lloyd banks "any girl' would take off but it really hasn't. Are you playing Bruno Mars "Just the way you are"? big jump in bpms. in times like these, I generally go back a few months and try to make something out of a flavor track I liked, example John Blu "In Love wit yo booty"...I know as djs we are always trying to push the latest and greatest, but there really doesn't seem to be a lot to play between 95-105 unless you are playing a lot of recurrents and old school....
djdalite 5:21 PM - 26 October, 2010
exactly

ya, any girl got some play down here but deff not a real hit, dont really get requests
dont play bruno but B.o.B still works

i can always go back to some rihanna umbrella, beyonce, or even nelly furtado but in this -almost- last year there hasnt been a lot of hits for ladies, or maybe i just over look them because i try to find whats hott vs. what the masses will follow

That Esther Dean /Chris Brown Drop It Low has been working for me as of late. Pitbull Go Girl still works, and the new 93bpmish Go Girl by Baby bash is growing. Granted I'm in the Bay, but Tell Me When To Go and Blow The Whistle still get the girls dancing.

Oh that La, La, La song (though needing an intro beat) works sometimes too.

This is in addition to all that Jensen mentioned above.

Oh and to the Guetta list add the newish song with Fergie.
--but nothing is better than the CDJ FAIL!!!!

i think they are talking about what the crowd digs, not what the dj likes, theres a lot of songs that i never ever ever want to hear again but i have to play them cause the crowd wants to hear it :S for example i would've never played a drake track but i had to....mmm im not gonna front i dig that aston martin joint...first track i like from drake, maybe cause he is singing lol
DjLouSince82 8:54 PM - 13 November, 2010
I know what you mean about no girlie tracks but if you in the latin scene theres a lot right not specially bachata and mambo merengue like Omega, also shakira's Loca..or some reggeaton that hittin..not much reaggeton as before but theres some new tracks out there that chicks like..toss in those with a few old tracks and you are good...good luck
