Click on two or more crates - the library fills with files from both crates.
(or several)
a rule that decides if it will load the files all files, or only files found in all crates.

Imagine how easy it would be to switch between several genres by mixing those crates - for example.

that's exactly what it would be great for, to make transitions between genres or to switch it up between 2 specific music choices.

Yep definately a great idea, and additionaly maybe we could somehow:
-highlight 2 or more crates, so that when we grab one song we can drop it in multiple crates in one single movement. (for instance drop Shutterbug in one crate were I got all my electro/hiphop bangers and in another one labeled 2010 or whatever.) You see the point.

yes and
I was always hopping for sort of the reverse of that - when you select a song, whatever crates that song is in would lite up.

Oh yes, definitely. Most part of my collection I organise in Genres (or what I recognize as a particular style). But I like to mix several genres together and it would be quite nice to be able to select several crates to mix those genres, rather than jumping back and forth between 2, 3, 4... crates.
Res-Q's suggestion would actually also be a nice addition :o)

Yes boss. I ve thought about it using SL live this weekend.
And regarding file management the most usefull thing would definately be Akiem's idea.
Being able to click on any one file in the main browser or any one file in any crate, and that automaticaly all the crates containing this one particular would lite up.

I support this one Akiem. It would save some time when you cannot be bothered with making a smart crate on the fly during a gig.

select more than one crate and be able move them. Would make archiving more easy.

That's getting pretty intense. I don't envy the person coding the keyboard commands for that one. It should be possible though.

Hm, not sure how it works but it would be two or three modified clicks on the crate. For example: com+click would be inclusive, and option+click would be subtractive.
It would be very powerful because you could, for exampl add your 'rap crate' to your 'r&b crate' then subtract all all dirty versions, afte that subtract all the 'rap' songs...you could navigate all night
