Pioneer DDJ-XP2 Scratch Bank

electro77 12:59 AM - 10 December, 2025
The 5 year anniversary of SDJ Pro Scratch Bank just passed October 2025. Could we get Scratch Bank unlocked for any of the 4 dedicated DDJ-XP2 pad modes?

+1000. You’d think the XP2 would automatically have the ability to incorporate the scratch bank feature. Come on Serato!
DjSyndic8 1:08 AM - 20 May, 2026
the scratch bank will only be activated by connecting a supported Serato Hardware (as long as a Serato‑supported mixer/controller is also connected).

Like :

Numark Scratch

Rane Seventy / Seventy‑Two

Pioneer DJM‑S7 / S9 / S11

Any Serato‑enabled controller

Serato’s Scratch Bank support is hardware‑gated, and only a handful of devices unlock it.

I can’t find any information on whether or not the Numark Scratch will unlock scratch bank. The other mixers you mentioned are specifically documented by Serato indicating that scratch bank works with them.

Thats the thing XP2 wont unlock scratch banks on its own, I guess thats what all the DJs are requesting,

the XP2 is an add‑on controller, not a license‑unlocking device.

Its a licensing issue,

so in this case if you own a Serato DJ Pro license, that means Serato should enable scratch banks with the XP2 ??? make sense right?

"The Pioneer DDJ-XP2 is designed to work with both rekordbox and Serato DJ Pro, unlocking various performance features like Hot Cues, Beat Jump, and Slicer, but it does not specifically mention unlocking scratchbanks"

it doesnt make sense why it doesnt unlock scratch banks but it unlocks Hot Cues, Beat Jump, and Slicer?

SDJ Scratch Banks was first introduced on October 15, 2020
Pioneer DDJ-XP2 was introduced October 1, 2019
Pioneer DJM-S9 was introduced August 6, 2015 and Serato 2.6.0 introduced DJM-S9 Scratch Bank support on August 8, 2022

I find it odd that the Numark Mixtrack Pro FX($229) unlocks scratch bank but more expensive controllers/mixers can’t use this feature. What’s Serato’s methodology when it comes to the scratch bank feature. At least give those who want to use the feature the ability to pay a small one time fee to have access to it. It just seems odd to not give a segment of their customers an option to utilize scratch bank, regardless of what hardware is used.

Yep…I’m still puzzled at Serato’s thought process around the decision to alienate certain hardware, and at the very least open it up as a paid add on. Numark Scratch mixer carries the “Scratch” moniker but can’t access scratch banks. Just puzzling.

Exactly. Pretty every pad mode feature is accessible on the DDJ XP2 with the exception of scratch bank. I have a RS1 and have gotten use to having this feature when I use it, and when I switch over to my Turntables/Certified SDJ Mixer setup it’s omitted due to being locked out due to Serato’s decision to only allow certain hardware access to it. If you paid for SDJ Pro or your hardware unlocks it, it should be accessible for free. At the very least allow DJs the option to pay a small fee to unlock it.

Unfortunately I had to bite the bullet and purchased a used RANE 72 just to have access to scratch banks. However I’m still in the return window to send my Numark Scratch/XP2 back. The cost of both of them equated to the RANE 72 so it’s going to be a wash as far as cost is concerned. I wished I had done my research prior to purchasing my current setup, and not assumed that a certified Serato mixer and official accessory such as the XP2 locks you out from a feature that imo, should’ve come standard.

Yep…it arrived today…updated the firmware to 1.6 and scratch bank is available and active. Still upset at how Serato has this feature locked out for certain hardware.

Hey can someone pull up the scratch bank code from the Diego Johnson thread? I'll map it to a custom mode on the xp2 and upload it here for everyone

Just post the code from the other thread in here and I'll do it

This would be a wonderful feature for the DDJ-XP2. Scratch Bank please!
Futuretek 3:42 PM - 17 July, 2026
I still cant run effects through the XP2 I dont think that they have really supported this piece of kit well at all.

Scratch bank would be great in addition to settings to map it the way you want in software without using midi mapping.

The touch strips already control the FX. Scratch bank is blocked from MIDI mapping

DJ Pro 5.0 Beta?

I mean you can read the change log like everyone else, sir.

Serato should simply make pad modes selectable by users. It seems will resolve a lot of request in this forum.

But what new features would an XP-3 bring to the table? DDJ-XP2 is priced higher than several SDJ Lite intro controllers which feature Scratch Bank

DDJ-REV1 being just one example

None except maybe scratch banks just so we can buy this thing all over again.

I'd buy an SP-2 though with RGB pads...
DJ STU-C 7:39 AM - 19 October, 2026
The XP devices are far too big imo, the SP1 is perfect size to slot in my setup and i hope mine never breaks or ill be screwed.

I agree, but you can always buy used sp1s on the used market

I haven’t looked tbh Despo, that’s good to know if there is though. I bought mine used years ago.

32 pads on the XP-2 allows combining functions. Its a very useful device for limited DVS mixers

For me the strips just dont work with my s11 or flx10
