love the ddj sx3 but last night in the middle of a gig the songs started skipping to random parts of the song... then the board just powered down.... wtf has anyone else had this problem???
ishstylz 7:50 PM - 14 July, 2018
Got the new SX3! Love the new features BUT.... it froze on me 3 times during a set! Not sure if it’s because I was outdoors in 94 degrees ( I’ve been out in hotter weather with no problem). I restarted the controller & everything seemed fine for a few minutes but froze again. Do I need to update the firmware? Not sure if anyone else has had this issue. HELP!

I got the sx3 and it’s great ,for ten minutes ! Then my right deck freezes and won’t play ,restart serato and works for a while then freezes again, restart MacBook, now works for a bit and then the left deck freezes ,?!?
I have updated everything I can,uninstalled serato,reinstalled it ,drivers the lot !
Nothing fixes the issue
DJ Tecniq 7:20 PM - 21 July, 2018
For those having issues i recommend a clean install of your operating system if that doesn’t fix it then the board is defective. Updating from a previous OS can cause system issues which is why a fresh install of the OS is best. You shouldn’t have issues with a fresh install but if you do than something is prob wrong with the board which is a fault of Pioneer.

I too had two gigs this weekend turn into complete disasters when my DDJ-SX3 would start playing a song, turn the song to static then complete fail to respond when the audio would drop out to nothing. Changed to back up Macbook Pro, same situation happened again. Swapped USB cables, increased audio buffer, shut down every available process and service, still no luck.

No firmware updates posted for this unit.

Such a terrible weekend I am looking at different controllers.
beezwax 8:45 AM - 26 July, 2018
I had trouble with mine on first gig - totally locked up and wouldn't even work properly as a mixer. Changing USB ports worked as a temporary fix so that's worth a try if anyone else has a problem!

Hopefully they will release new firmware soon to fix these issues!!
Mark092 4:18 PM - 26 July, 2018
Hi to all. I have problems with DDJ SX3 :
Volume levels increase and decrease on its own

Headphone cue button suddenly causes one of the songs to restart to the beginning of the song. Almost acting as if it was a cue point button

Song would restart to the beginning of the song by itself.

Master volume in software this freeze don't move.

my sistem is :
MacBook Pro ( 13-inch, Early 2015)
2,7 GHz Intel Core i5
8 gb ram
Intel Iris Graphics 6100 1536 MB
I am attaching the video link : https we.tl/A7jGLhoYOg

Please i need help 🙏🏻

I haven't had assistance from Pioneer and not from the store...because the problem is located in the software...

Hello, I recently purchased a Pioneer DDJ SX3 and I'm having a hard time figuring out how to get sound out of mic 3. It's turned on and the level is half. Can someone help me?
Mike Sr 3:22 AM - 30 July, 2018
I figured it out; you have to power off everything before making new connections. Tks
DJ MousE.ch 9:22 AM - 6 August, 2018
Please make also a Ticket to Pioneer DJ?
Use the "recordbox"-Tickets. It would be the best way to communicate with the DDJ-SX3 engineers to identify the root cause. Doesn't matter, if it is a "SERATO DJ PRO-Gear", they are the same Support People!

But with many Tickets Pioneer DJ also have something to do. I allready have Problem and Pioneer DJ works on it.

Thank you very much for your kind cooperation.

Best regards,

Can anybody else confirm?

I purchased 2 of the sx3, and both had the power down issue. Contacted pioneer and there’s no fix as of now. aAs a working dj, I couldn’t keep doing that so I moved on to the DDJ 1000. Hate that I had to move away from serato but...........
DJ Grant D 5:48 PM - 17 August, 2018
Just received my Pioneer DDJ-SX3 back from warranty repair and within 5 minutes I experienced the same issue. Track that is being played starts getting choppy, then static begins, Serato waveform display starts jumping then total SX3 lockup. I had to power cycle the controller to play music again, works for about one minute then fails again.

Tested the same scenario using DDJ-SX2, same speakers, cables, power supply and no issues at all.

The DDJ-SX3 has a serious issue. I am on my 2nd DDJ-SX3 with a warranty repair and I cannot solve the issue.

Waiting on feedback from Pioneer, I hope this can be resolved, the controller has a lot of promise from a feature perspective.

I love the DDJ-1000 but not being able to play mixed media playlists or natively support Camelot key scale were two giant hurdles I could not get past.

I hope to see Serato add Rekordbox features like track suggestions and enhanced loops etc. and I would be pumped, especially if I could use a DDJ-1000 with Serato :)

It is never a good idea to purchase the SX3 when it’s first released. So far I’ve heard nothing but problems with this unit. While Pioneer makes great products their quality control is shit and they know it they just won’t admit it. Hope they can resolve these issues. But a defective unit right off the bat is never fun. Shame on them but it doesn’t surprise me my first S9 had bad XLR outputs immediately i returned it for a new S9 mixer and it’s been solid ever since. Good luck everyone!

Problems with distortion sound using the mic channels on line 1 & 4.
I'm using a Shure QLXD and also tried my Sennheiser.
The mic gain is set to -16DB and Mic offset is zero.

FYI- I have both the DDJ SX 1 and 2 and never had this problem.

Any thoughts?

Hello DDj 1000 or DDj-SZ2 ....

I recently purchased a Pioneer DDJ SX3 and was having issues using it with the Serato DJ software. I followed instructions and downloaded the trial for Serato DJ on the website and installed it. I also downloaded all the drivers and firmware. When I play tracks in Serato using only the laptop it seems to play fine. However once I plug in the controller, Serato freezes, the tracks will stop playing and it will not allow me to use any of the functions on the controller. It will recognize me attempting to hit some of the buttons such as the play or sync but the jog wheel and other functions will not show any action. As soon as I unplug the controller Serato changes it’s map slightly and than resumes playing the tracks just fine. I've ran almost every troubleshooting possible both on Pioneer and Serato's end. Do I have to "purchase" Serato DJ, or is the SX3 really that faulty?? Spent the whole day trying to figure this out, so frustrating smh......

It's a clever trick to push djs for Rekordbox in my opinion. They released a hardware without testing? We are talking for Pioneer not a small Village - Company. Shame on them.

Check on the bottom of your unit for a black dot if yours doesn’t have a black dot by it then it’s defective and a pioneer repair center will fix it free of charge. Certain units have been recalled for freezing issues which you just described.

WOW...so crazy everyone who purchased this new DDJ SX3 $1000 controller and are having issues like myself. I thought I was doing something wrong. I upgraded everything! my whole computer, software you name it! THIS IS A MAJOR FAIL for pioneer. I contacted support and they treat you like youre a fucking retard. Asking me if I updated to the latest serato. Well know shit, that was the first thing I did when I took it out of the box. Never fails this unit has frozen up on me 100 times. I upgraded to this unit from the DDJ SX2 that I had bought a year ago and never had any issues with it at all. Worked seamlessly. Now I cant even play on my new controller for 5 minutes without having issues. Cant imagine using this and actually playing at a venue and your whole set is FUCKED! HOLD this L pioneer.

Yes, I absolutely will be sending it in to get it fixed or it will be going up on youtube with me taking a baseball bat to this controller and buying a controller from one of pioneers competitors.

I contacted Pioneer's support team a month ago about this issue. I just found this thread today after exhaustingly troubleshooting everything else. I was debating on buying a new Apple MacBook Pro thinking it was because I was running it off a HP which is relatively new. I was thinking my computer was "strong" enough to handle the new DDJ SX3 or the firmware but then I was always say to myself well the DDJ SX2 worked fine off the same computer. When I saw this thread that pioneer actually acknowledged the controller had issues. Which is fine if they offer to fix it for free.

im in no way a professional dj, I just love music and enjoy playing in my man cave. I might eventually play a house party or two, but my whole thing is this...

Pioneer puts out a new controller, do they not test these controllers, or just manufacture the controllers put them in a box and hope they work for someone who is actually a paid dj doing events somewhere?

Pioneer updated their website Aug. 21st 2018 acknowledging there are problems with DDJ SX3
and specifically state if your controller or the box the controller came in does NOT have a black dot next to the bar code than your controller is affected by this "recall" even tho they don't use the word "recall".
So why was the black dot placed on the boxes and controllers that are not affected by this. Well it doesn't take a smart person to figure this out, the reason the affected ones don't have the black dot is because Pioneer new of this defect before they put these affected controllers out to be sold. They did not want to take the loss on probably thousands of controllers they spent money and just sold them anyways knowing it could be fixed once the person purchased it, took it home, and realized they bought a piece of shit and now have to send it off somewhere.

Just a poor choice by Pioneer all the way around. No one should have to be doing this period.
DJ Tecniq 5:10 AM - 3 September, 2018
It is a poor choice on their part however they publicly acknowledged the fault unlike some other companies would fail to do. But to be honest they have always had some quality control issues in recent years. There was a number of users with defective S9 mixers as well my first being one of them with bad xlr outputs i was just shy 30 days out of my return policy but Agiprodj still honored the defect. They contacted Pioneer and pioneer contacted me by email to get everything sorted and shipped out a replacement mixer that has been solid ever since. I believe it’s a quality control issue but Pioneer will not admit that. One things for certain they are losing a lot of money with all these defects.

That’s very interesting cause according to Pioneer if you have a black dot by the serial number the unit is not affected. Maybe it’s your computer?
Bart de Graaf 4:36 PM - 5 September, 2018
No not at all. I have 2 Mac Books and i have problems with both. My friend bought also a new DDJ SX3 and he has also problems. When I go offline the software works. Once I connect the SX3 to the Mac Book Pro Retina the problems begin. I am a prof dj so i can't live with bad stuff. Sometimes it goes, sometimes not :(
DJPINT 9:17 PM - 5 September, 2018
I picked up a SX3 on Friday to test out. Box and player have an APRIL 2018 manufacturing date. No issues with SERATO. However, CH 4 stops working with the DJ is launched. Tested launching the DJ and then connecting Internet on controller no issues however as soon as VDJ is closed CH 4 stops working again.
DJPINT 9:19 PM - 5 September, 2018
All the lights on the controller also blink on and off randomly. Almost as if it is powering up again or restarting. My main draw to the SX3 was the 3 MIC level inputs. Guess I’ll return it and wait for them to work out the bugs.

Yours may be one of the defective units have you found out? You do know there’s a free fix on their part. Instead of returning why not have them fix it?
DJ CFLY 9:16 AM - 6 September, 2018
I noticed the same on my SX3 LED lights are freezing. Only switch off/on solve the issue.
Luckily until now it only happened before my gig's but I'm afraid this will happen during a set very soon...or worse.

I saw the black dot communication of Pioneer and did contact them to return my unit.
However you have to go through your dealer well this is the preferred option however if I do this I'm losing my controller for 5-6 weeks. Playing every week this is not an option.
So the second option is to bring back the controller to the repair centre in Wetteren (in Belgium). Nice one this is an hour driving during the week for me and when I work...
I'm afraid I don't have much of a choice...still 1 gig without repair on the agenda cross my fingers it won't crash on me when live.
For sure the proposed solution by PIONEER is not very customer friendly.

Cheers

Hello everyone, I update you on my problem about the mapping of DDJSX3 .. after many emails pioneer sent me a version of the beta firmware that seems to have solved the main problem, but it still remained the problem about the master volume on Serato and the poor feedback from the jog ... I hope they will reply shortly to give you more information ...

Call them up they mentioned in the article if you read it that if your unit on the bottom doesn’t have a black dot than it’s possibly defective.

Ok I just got my DDJ-SX3 and I have tried everything but the master indicator light bars on the top of Serato DJ are missing so I can’t adjust the master volume on the software. Also the jog wheels are really sensitive even after adjusting the sensitivity on them. But I don’t know if that’s a pioneer problem or Serato. What I mean about sensitivity I like to use the top of the player to speed up or slowdown but if I do that it skips the song too ahead or it will reduce the speed too drastically, and also you can hear when The track bands from speeding up and slowing down if anybody has any help on this thank you.
savvakis 12:43 AM - 7 October, 2018
Guys I think we should send every single day emails to pioneer to fix our problems!!
djaflex 6:05 PM - 8 October, 2018
I just got my DDJ-SX3 back from the recall as well. My colleague and I used it at a wedding and the same problem happened! The audio completely cuts out and lights go off. Looks like I'm going to call Pioneer again and send it back in. Pioneer royally f'ed up on the SX3. At this point, I don't even want to own into the SX3 line because it's so unreliable. its a software limitation the audio recording is internal so you won’t hear the mic output. Serato can’t record the audio and mic simultaneously it’s one or the other.

Questions for everyone on the SX3:
1. - My SX3 came from a reseller on Amazon labeled "New". The box was obviously opened and shipped, literally, only in the retail box. It had clearly been opened and retaped. My "black dots" on the barcode and the controller were very sloppily drawn with a sharpie. FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVE SENT YOURS IN FOR REPAIR: Anyone get a sharpie dot instead of a neatly printed dot like I've seen online or did the reseller just try to convince me that the unit was fixed?
2. - FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT HAVE HAD A UNIT THAT FAILED - how soon did you encounter issues? I've ran mine off and on over the past few days for about 2-3 hours at a time, checking the booth RCA, main XLR, and headphone cue outputs. I've thrown every possible thing I could at it seeing if it would glitch or fail, all good so far. Am I in the clear or could it still happen at upcoming gigs?

Thanks in advance for the answers!

--------------------
I had a "2nd Gen" DDJ-SX3 (with black dot) that I got in Dec...same probs...exchanged it in Feb for a new SX3 (also with black dot)...it's been working well up until last week. Had the static issues once and semi-fixed itself if I powered off and adjusted latency. Have my 1st/biggest club gig in a month and want to use controllers but am freaky out. What did you end up doing? Get a new controller? What kind? TIA!

I have third SX3 unit, last two with black dots and I still have issues. Returning this. Waiting for Denon Prime, because I don´t trust Pioneer anymore. I have tried XDJ RX2, but there is no gate option on pads. And Rekordbox library management is a joke. I have instantly doubled track on flash drive. I hate hot cue and memory point together, there is no reason to have both. Maybe I am going to buy SX2 because I had SX1 and Serato for five years without any problems.
Veks 10:08 AM - 22 March, 2019
I think that the problems with SX3 are because of changing ground circuits in the unit because of second laptop possibility. That's why some of us have those problems and some of us don't. Europe has other wall socket than US.
Maybe everyone can say where is he from and then we will see if this is it.
I have problems and I am from EU (Czech Republic).

So my DDJ-SX3 was working fine yesterday afternoon. I stored it as I normally do but I went to use it later that night and it was all messed up. I cued up a 70 BPM song and it showed up at 64.3 bpm, I couldn’t change the bpm and then none of the hot cues worked and it wouldn’t play out of the speakers. Although I could play and pause the track, no hot cues responded, and the speakers couldn’t pick up any sound niether could the headphones. Every song on every channel has done the same thing, I tried rebooting my computer, unplugging everything from the mixer and setting it up again but nothing has worked, advice??
DJ Tecniq 7:33 PM - 29 March, 2019
Regarding the master volume being locked in the software it is also happening with the Mixars Primo. Was told this is a bug and will be fixed in an update. Wish they would just concentrate on the stability of SDJ Software than audio production. Note: To developers let Ableton handle the production. Stay in your lane👌🏼

Purchased the Pioneer DDJ SX3 in September of 2018. No problems until November 2018 when the jog wheels and cue points stopped responding. After unplugging and replugging there was still problems.

Contacted Pioneer and received a shipping label via e-mail. Shipped in November 2018 and the return was about 2 weeks. Piooneer DDJ SX3 has been fine after fix until March 28, 2019. Again no jog wheel response where I had to use my Numark DJ2go to finish a wedding. What a bummer! Not sure if I should just sale it and use my DDJ SZ which has been good to me.

i am also on my second unit, black dot manufacture after nov date.

they have one more at my shop that has a penciled in black dot from manufacturer. going to try that one then i guess move on to denon, still have my sr2 & sx2 which both work well.

is denon the next one i should try for a sx2 level controller?

Last Friday I played a gig and after 7 hours of spinning my sx3 rebooted and audio stopped. Luckily it was during ons of the last songs that I played that night with only a small number of people left on the dancefloor. After reboot and disconnect and reconnect USB everything again worked fine. I’ve already played 2 gigs in the past months without having any issue, this was the first issue I had with my SX3 (which I bought in March 2019 and has the black dot by the way).
Maybe it was just a glitch. However, I am not very confident to use the device during my next gig(s). I will give it another try but if it fails me again, I will for sure get in touch with Pioneer to get a solution. Is there anyone having NO issues with the black dotted SX3... ?

Hey how’s it going. I purchased mine back in sept of 2019. I haven’t had any issues like the ones you guys are talking about. But I do have an issue where if I hold SHIFT down on either side I can’t use it to control both sides with it. I have to individually hit SHIFT on each deck to use there secondary controls. That’s the only thing I miss about my SX2. But other then that I haven’t had any problems yet. Well I have noticed that with the SX3 my platters are too sensitive with the jog wheel if I touch the top part to slow it down or speed it up it jumps ahead to quick and back too quick as well so I have to use the sides instead of the top of the platter. If anyone has any advice please let me know thank you.
Rude_Movements 11:22 PM - 7 May, 2019
yes, i had platter problems on all 3 units as well. it has something to do with how the unit was grounded, if i put my hand on something and touched it the problem would get slightly better, this doesnt happen with my two other pioneer controllers plugged into the same area
djaflex 5:23 PM - 22 May, 2019
This past weekend my sx3 decks would stop playing. The button registers as I press the play button since I can see the 'play button' briefly toggle on serato dj but it won't play at all. After a reboot of both the unit and laptop, it would work, then after serato 'library update' completes, the decks would stop and lose play capabilities after touching the platter or pressing play/stop. I've already sent my sx3 for a warranty repair already. Don't know what to do at this point.
Rude_Movements 5:36 PM - 22 May, 2019
See if your program somehow switched modes(relative, internal)

Mine did that see with sx3 for some reason.

I wonder if at any point these will be safe to own or buy from a refurbished sale?

Is too bad, think I'm gig to have to switch to denon

I don't see the relative/internal functions on serato DJ when plugged into the SX3.
It's usually there when I plug in my S9 but not the sx3..

Same exact thing just happened at my gig this weekend. Took 3 restarts of Serato for it to play correctly, suffered through the rest of the gig wondering if the software or controller would crash again. I'm using a unit that has been sent in to Pioneer for the black dot service. I'm up to date on laptop and serato software. I don't have the cash to buy a new unit (still paying for this one)….I seriously just don't know what to do here.

Question,
Has anyone tried to connect MASTER OUT 1 via XLR and MASTER OUT 2 via RCA to send two signals at once?

I use the XLR as my primary, but I'm trying to send a signal out of the RCA via a Bluetooth receiver to connect to a 2nd source. For some reason I'm not getting any signal. Does the DDJ-SX3 allow you to send two signals at once through these outputs? Or is there something in the settings menu I'm missing?

thanks

After going through six (6) DDJ-SX3 units I finally have one that works well (so far). My faith has been restored with this unit and just in the nick of time. I had also purchased a Denon Prime 4 as they were slated to work with Serato. Sadly, the Prime 4 still does not support Serato and I went back to the store with fingers crossed.

What I love about the DDJ-SX3 is that it mimics the DDJ-SZ2 in layout and function. I will not say that it is the same as the DDJ-SZ2, which is just a phenomenal controller. Unfortunately for my mobile gigs, I required something more portable. A lot of venues couldn't support the real estate needed for the SZ2, and anyone that has ever shipped one in a flight case feels my pain as you pay for the shipping costs and hold your breath until it arrives safely, although never unscathed, TSA is brutal in this regard.

So for me, after many many painful months arguing with Pioneer Tech Support and pulling some epic fails during gigs, I have now used my current DDJ-SX3 for a number of shows without incident.

Only issue with them now is you need to exit Serato before you unplug your Mac, for me this always creates an issue upon reconnect with the controller flashing USB B with no response from any buttons at all.

SX3 With Black Dot Crashes During Set & 2 DJ Mode Freezes As Well

If you lose or break your power cord you literally have to buy a new board because none of the off brand ones work. This is absolute bullshit. Why can’t u guys just sell the actual power cord separately. Would love any advice if there actually is another power cord out there that works

UPDATE: I bought a cheap old MacBook Pro and have played a few successful gigs - up to probably 30+ hours including prep and practice...NO GLITCHES. After working with Dell, Serato, and Pioneer support - tried COUNTLESS fixes and latency mon was still showing issues after plugging in 32 GB of Ram, optimizing, applying Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut paste....my conclusion, Windows 10 just plain sucks. 2013 MacBook Pro with High Sierra has zero issues with this DDJ SX3 so far. So dissapointing to invest so much in a Dell for it to just be useless now. But big shoutout to Serato Tech for trying for so long to help me fix it. Hoping at some point I can trust this with Windows because I still don't like Macs :)
