Jasmine Solano
My love for the craft runs deep, and I’m grateful I get to live my life as a professional, international DJ”
Jasmine Solano is an unfaltering do-er. In her own words, she’s a “DJ, TV host, curator, lover of life”. We can also add entrepreneur, producer, and fervent women’s rights advocate to that list. Melo-X, the other half of Solano’s dancehall-electro outfit Electric Punnany attests to this: “Jasmine is one of the hardest working people I know - she’s the most organised artist,”.
Solano grew up in Philadelphia, studying the techniques of Mix Master Mike and Qbert before landing a DJing spot at WERS 88.9FM. Splitting her time between NYC and LA, she continues to make her art her livelihood. This involves anything from running her Electric Punanny parties to DJing fashion events and supporting artists like Wiz Kalifa and Beyonce.
Solano recently dropped by our LA studio where we were grateful to chat in-depth, and watch her smash it on the 1s and 2s alongside friend and drummer-don Madame Gandhi. Check it out below.
