my itunes folder is located on my d: (7200rpm second hard drive where the optical drive would have been)
SDJ is located on c: (an ssd)
current itunes folder on d: is 240gig
of that, music is 112gig around 16000 tracks
podcasts 76gig
i typically disable wifi, disable battery management and run game booster to disable additional services
will attach crash dumps after this initial post
also I am in process of freeing up some more space on hard drive, will try to install again after doing so

so I uninstalled and reinstalled, opened it up with nothing else going and according to task manager the seratoDJ.exe 32 process is using 873mb RAM
my total system RAM usage is at 3.5gig out of 8
it now lets me load two songs and now the process is using 900mb RAM
immediately following a dialog popped up:
"there is not enough memory to execute this command"
then it crashed, uploading the crash log now

i had another idea that it might be because i had some virtual midi drivers installed, so I removed loopmidi, rtpmidi and midiox/bomes
SDJ loaded and I mixed using 2 tracks/fx for about 5 minutes and then.... crash, yet another log attached

Hi Martin C,
I'm not sure how much more specific I can be regarding my situation/specs.
I mentioned several times now, I do ALL my music management in itunes, use its playlists/smart playlists and don't use any Serato crates.
Please let me know as according to the info you mentioned earlier I don't appear to have very out of the ordinary specs right?
- Crate amount 0
- File amount ~16500
- File sizes Total itunes folder 240gig, of that, music is 112gig around 16000 tracks
- File types 90% mp3, at least half over 320bitrate, at least a couple of gigs of samples are in my itunes library as wavs
- File location length?? itunes manages my music, is currently on my second HD a 7200rpm drive in a caddy where the optical drive would have been
- iTunes being used (iTunes managing your music or not?) YES!
- External or internal drives c: around 120gig SSD, d: around 650gig 7200rpm
Are you and your team actually actively doing anything on this now?
I love the controller and it's potential but... for the best of a year I can't use it and it seems ridiculous having to look at buying a macbook or cutting my library down to use SDJ with it when Traktor works just fine!

i tried opening itunes while holding shift and creating a new library
this library is based on my d:
to this library i added only one playlist and around 20 files
SDJ still crashes (see attached)
how does SDJ pick which itunes library it tries to load? I was hoping that a workaround could be to create another itunes library and just load that

Hey ScooterAdam,
I noticed my colleague Martin C has already been helping you out.
I have read through your other threads to try get an understanding about your issues.
I need to gather some further information so I have a better understanding of how you have things setup. -- I apologise if some of these questions have already been asked.
1. I noticed you have two internal hard drives with music on them?
-- How big is each drive?
-- How much free space do you have on each hard drive?
-- Are all your music files on one hard drive, or are the split between drives?
2. I noticed iTunes organises your music files for you.
-- Do you let iTunes create folders for artists / albums etc?
-- IE "C:/iTUNES/MEDIA/ARTIST/ALBUM/Tune.mp3
Long folder paths like the above can cause computer performance issues.
-- Slow start up times.
-- Crashes / Freezes.
-- Computers overall performance slows down.
Audio Performance applications need to read music files LIVE while you are performing. The easier the computer can locate the files the better performance you will have.
I would suggest you look at reorganising the way your music files are saved on your harddrives.
Something like "C:/MUSIC/MAY 2013/tunes.mp3
This would mean you will only have 12x folders of music for each year.
-- This will make is a lot easier for your computer to locate files.
-- Your computers overall performance will improve.
Regarding RAM / CPU processing.
Remember Serato applications run off a 32bit platform. This means they can only access a certain amount of RAM / Virtual memory space (regardless of how much RAM/CPU power your computer may have).
Your options are,
1. Cut back on your music library size.
-- A quick and easy way to get back up and running.
-- But you may find yourself back at this point in 6 months time?
2. Look at reorganising the way your files are saved.
-- Doing this will hopefully mean you can run a bigger Serato library.
Thanks.
