Just downloaded itch 2.2 and it installed it. Now it crashes when I try and start it up.

I have a crash dump but this page doesn't seem to have anywhere to attach it...

Following the installation itch 2.2.1 for vci380 is still here. I can run that and use it.
beisi 3:49 PM - 8 October, 2012
Let me clarify, existing version 2.2.1 still works

Tried installing 2.2.2, installation apparently ok, when i try to run it it crashes.

It will start up and I have just enough time to verify by clicking on setup that it is 2.2.2 before it crashes

Hi scooterADAM
I'm sure it is the D:Partition (full of Tunes?)
Since i have only one Drive ITCH2.2.2 just works fine.

For a test just Rename the Folders
_Serato_ & _Serato_Backup
on Drive D:/

Then start ITCH

Good Luck

Renamed folders

Restarted 2.2.2 with vci not plugged in.

Plugged it in and was able to mix a song with another.

The four fx units were showing as 'empty'.

Closed it and restarted with controller plugged in, crashed. See attached log.

When I plug in my twitch it starts up

I get a 'Not enough space to execute command' error

What does the update try to do the existing library? I have around 120gig of music and I don't have another 120 gig free if that is what it needs... :(
beisi 9:32 AM - 9 October, 2012
Update, have had no further suggestions and can't find anything further helping with this.

I freed up around 150gig, don't get the message above anymore but still crashes.
Will post another log soon with the crash dump,

Anway... with a big dissapointed sigh I uninstalled 2.2.2 - doesn't work with my Twitch or VCI380, crashes every time. :(

Reinstalled 2.2.0 and this works with Twitch
2.2.1 continues to work with VCI-380
Buuuuuuut with both they don't record which really sucks.

Hey scooterADAM,

Do you use iTunes in ITCH?

When you said, you tried renaming the folders, did you mean the _Serato_ folders?

Are you able to open ITCH 2.2 or 2.1 without the crash happening?

serato.com

Are you able to upload to me the following file:

MyMusic > iTunes > "iTunes Music Library.xml"

Try rebuilding this file also:

First, close ALL programs.
1. Go to the above location.
2. Rename the "iTunes Music Library.xml" to "OLDiTunes Music Library.xml"
3. Open iTunes and play a few files.
4. Close iTunes and try opening ITCH 2.2.2.

Let me know how you go :)

i did what you suggested, renamed the itunes xml, and it loads ok ONCE with no fx loading up, then second time around it crashes while attempting to load the itunes library

hooray for my VCI380 shaped paper weight!

You can upload to this address serato.com/upload then just put "Attention: Martin C" in the file description or something.

Can you please upload your iTunes Music Library.xml file also please?

attached is the old library xml renamed and the new one after rebuild

i'm now running the newest version (11) of itunes
I am also now up to date with the latest updates for win 7
beisi 7:48 AM - 6 December, 2012
my itunes library folder is about 220gig
as mentioned previously, my itunes library folder sits on the second HD:
Hard Disks: C: 119.1GB (SSD) | D: 698.6GB (normal HD)
the base folder is now named 'itunes' and itunes is pointed to it
my .xml file is the default c: location

I only have about 20 gig free on the d: now as opposed to a couple of months ago when I last put effort into making the vci work...

Does ITCH require the same amount of space as the current library again to rebuild it or something? as in I need to have ANOTHER 220gig free while ITCH 2.2 starts up?

I tried freeing up that much extra space earlier and it didn't seem to work but let me know...

As mentioned a couple of posts up the behaviour I see now is that same as that of a couple of months ago.

Thanks for uploading your iTunes library. I could load your library fine on both mac and windows computers.

No, but a good 10-15% is always good to have free in general, even just for the sake of your computer running the Operating System.

Do you import some of your other music to ITCH otherways? or is your whole library via iTunes?

Do you use an external drive or is everything on the internal drive?
beisi 3:54 PM - 7 December, 2012
My whole library is in itunes. I have the 'let itunes keep my library organized' function ticked.

All internal to my laptop, two physical driver through, not partitions. The itunes application and itch reside on the c: (an SSD drive) and my itunes library is on my d: (a normal 7200rpm 700gig hard drive).

I will free up 20% on both c: and d: and try again, though I am not confident this will make a difference given that this still occurred when I had loads more space free.

Yes

To clarify, did you rename both folders with ITCH closed? There should be one on each of your drives. Also, do you have a "ScratchLIVE" folder appearing in your "MyMusic" folder?
beisi 11:28 AM - 11 December, 2012
well yeah now I have under the C:\Users\<myusername>\Music
_Serato_
_Serato_Backup

and on the root of the d:
_Scratch_LIVE_Backupold
_Scratch_LIVE_old
_Serato_
_Serato_backup

have tried renaming back and forth but no joy so far...

Im thinking lets strip it back to basics, try and get your controller working with 2.2.2 with a small library for starters, and discover whether this is caused by either the size of your iTunes library, or something going wrong with the _Serato_ folders.

As a test, please try the following:

1. Open 2.2.1, and un-tick "Read iTunes library"
2. Rename both _Serato_ folders on BOTH C and D drives to "OLD_Serato_"
3. Connect your VCI-380 and open 2.2.2.

Does it connect? Are the FX available?

Try and import a couple of tracks now, and continue playing, does it work ok?

Obviously, we need to get your library back and working, but to do this would tell us if this is a library issue, or some sort of fundamental sort "out of memory" reaction thats happening with the software/computer.
