i have videos that randomly corrupt.
they will work perfectly fine for weeks and months.
i will play them one night and the next night the video shows up as corrupted and the first cue jumps to the bottom of the wave form.

the mp4 will not play in quicktime.
it will not play in ssl with the 57 plugged in.
however, it does play in the offline player of ssl. very strange.

Hi tomatoslice,

Can you attach 4 or 5 of the files that are behaving this way ?

This is very ODD..... If they play in OFFLINE player and do NOT show the corrupt icon next to them then they should be fine in 2 Deck Mode.

Is it possible that you are switching between pre Scratch Live 2.3.3 and post Scratch Live 2.3.3 versions when this happens ?

I really need some of those files to troubleshoot this one.

i can attach two videos at this time.
these corrupted vids show up at random. they only appear when i use ssl, which is when i play out.
what is particularly odd is that they work fine one night and the next they are corrupted. and these are files i have played dozens of times.

i do not have 2.3.3 installed on my comp, only 1.9.2.

Hi tomatoslice,

show me love - robin s.mp4

get down on it - kool and the gang.mp4

These three files are incomplete and/ or corrupt. Do you have original versions of these tracks ?

I would COMMAND + SHIFT + DELETE to remove these from your Scratch Live library and their directory folder.
tomatoslice 5:41 PM - 13 June, 2012
yes, i have them on a backup, before they went corrupt.
the files i uploaded show on my comp as incomplete/corrupt as well.
they were fine and played one day were corrupt the next.

have you tried to play it in the offline player?
remember that is the odd part.
tomatoslice 5:41 PM - 13 June, 2012
this attaching is taking awhile.

i can duplicate this.
it's in the writing of tags.

1) I load and play a video with either the 57 or sl1 plugged in.
2) i change a tag. for instance write the artist name in.
3) load another video
4) load the video from step 2 and it is corrupted.

it only happens on videos and i have already purposefully corrupted enough of them for one day.
also, without corrupting more i think it is only happening in the "artist" tag. changing comments seems unaffected.

and looking back at help requests, i did test 2.3.0 and possibly 2.3.3.
since i have about 15-20 drives it is highly probable that this was a drive used for that testing.

i am thinking maybe because these may have been analyzed in a 2.3 and i am using them in 1.9.2 it's messing with the tag writing.
is it possible to strip all the analyzing of 2.3+ from my vids?

Only way I can think to make SSL start clean would be a lot of time spent by you:

start with a new DB

and

load em all into iTunes select them all. and mass edit their info to clear all fields.
tomatoslice 6:00 PM - 16 June, 2012
what does "DB' refer to?
popnwave 6:04 PM - 16 June, 2012
oh just the serato database with all the junk in the _Serato_ folder and what not.

any reason on why this is happening?
i doubt it's inherent or is common in this version of ssl.
must be something in the vids.

upgrade 1.9.2 to latest might help
tomatoslice 2:29 AM - 21 June, 2012
that would probably fix this one problem but would create other problems.
skyy 11:53 AM - 21 June, 2012
i have same set up,it's working fine for me
tomatoslice 4:20 PM - 21 June, 2012
cool, but mix emergency would not work.
also, there is an issue that sometimes files rewrite themselves after being ejected.
i have tested it on my system and that issue causes a slight pause sometimes when loading tracks. that is not acceptable for me.

upgrading is not an option.
popnwave 5:10 PM - 21 June, 2012
yeah tomato.. the more i add 720 stuff the more i see it. i wonder if it's a bitrate or keyframes issue?

do get the rewrites on 480p and lower tracks that you notice?
tomatoslice 7:53 PM - 21 June, 2012
i have not gotten a rewrite in quite awhile since i dropped back to 192.

but you bring up some interesting points.
should probably start a thread on rewrites to add as much info as possible.

Hi tomatoslice,

I have tested those files in Scratch Live 1.9.2 and managed to re-produce the behavior that you detail above with the original files.

I'm not certain on the cause of this one but when testing in Scratch Live 2.3.3 and latter I don't have any issues with those files.

I then used MPEGStreamclip's 'Save As' feature to rebuild the .mp4 container file and header on those two files.

Opened Scratch Live 1.9.2.
Analyzed the files in 1.9.2 and changed the artist and year tags.
Reloaded the tracks and reopened Scratch Live.
Tags all good and NO Corruption.

I would assume that somewhere along the line .mp4 header information has become corrupt.

If you are not interested in upgrading to Scratch Live 2.3.3 then this is my suggested workaround for you to deal with corrupt files like this.
tomatoslice 4:17 PM - 25 June, 2012
ok. thank you.
tomatoslice 4:35 PM - 25 June, 2012
i am just going to say it's fixed, because there is a work around.
