2 questions about video. DVI connection & MP4 conversion

DJ Mike B 2:49 AM - 9 January, 2008
I'm hoping for some advice. I've been converting music videos from VOB to mp4 the last couple days. I've done them in "mpeg streamclip". I select 100% quality and do indeed get it; however, each music video has been about 120MB. I can select the ipod conversion option at 100% quality and get the size down to about 45MB. Problem is that the video picture is not 100% clean on full screen like the 120MB ones are. Does anyone know how to get under 100MB and have the videos look perfect like i NEED them to?

also,

The club i'm a resident at has several HD TV's all hooked into a video box/spliter located (conviently) next to the mixer. There is a line for video open on it for input. It is component jacks. Will the the DVI to component cables i see on eBay be right for that?

thanks

120 is about right. a little high,,,but about where you going to be. try lowereing the slider a bit. do u know what bitrate its set at.

The component i'm not sure. I know i have one of those cables & the way i tried to use it didn't work. I took the component out & hooked it up to an output of a dvd player & hooked up the vga side to a video box. It didn't work. Now what you want to do is the other way around so it might work. Worth a try its pretty cheap. If not you need one of these:

I'm surprised they don't have a vga input. Usually you'll see that b4 u see a component connection.

I don't think it will work.

(*)The Cable Not Support your Computer Monitor Video Port, or Y , Cr, Cb Video. Your Video Source Must Provide a YpbPr Component Video Signal form the DVI-I Video Ports to Use Cable

I doubt that the DVI connector on a laptop provides component signal although you may be able to get a laptop that does, modern desktop PC graphics cards usually come with component out connector.

Component and VGA are different things, component is Y Pr Pb. VGA uses an RGB connection with separate horizontal and vertical sync.

I had this issue last Jan at a club and the tech guy fumbled around for 6 months trying to figure it out and wasnt able to. i finally found out that if you want to go from rca (composite) or S-video you need an upscaler. the upscaler is the only way to do this for those formats. the cheapest one i found was about 350 bucks. the VGA adoptors on ebay will not work i have already tried them all. now the pc to tv converters is your next best bet cause i did have one that had component out. thats great as long as you are only using the output of you computer. i use live cameras in my shows so my video mixer has composite and s-video

Syko,

i was checking out the pctv on frys.com. Those are usb. Do u know if that works with video serato? i thought we had to use the dvi output and not the usb.
