1.6 may work if you have a powerful graphicscard, check displaysettings on Vista and tell us what gfx crad you have.

It may be a bug on our part with vista compatibility. Does it sound/look like what is happening here (www.scratchlive.net)?
The very worst that should happen is that it runs poorly/stutters video. It should never just 'not run'.

mac or pc?
Don't buy Sh*t yet, man i have a hp pavilan 1.6ghz celeron crappy processor 2 gigs of ram and crappy intel 915 graphics card with 128 dedicated to video. I get everything but with white screens. I know it's a bug from serato (which is great!) hence, wait for an update on VSL. before u make any moves wait for the bug to be fixed. I have a feeling my cheap pc w/XP os will work with VSL. if it does I can hold off on upgrading my laptop. HOLLA!

Whilst you may get this working once the white screen bug is ironed out, you're never going to get acceptable performance.

I agree, you may need to turn down the performance slider which will make the videos look pixelated.
I don't really understand why everyone's bugging on making a laptop that's under the minimum system requirements work. SSL's minimum requirements for just audio is 1ghz g4, there have been reports of people getting it to work with 700mhz machines, but would you want to take that 700mhz machine out to a gig?
Minimum system requirements are posted for a reason, that should be the minimim you run, if not much higher.

dunno if you were being sarcastic DJ Hec Nice. but it is good advice. its been proven b4 that xp has better performence with xp. so y even mess with vista @ this point. I use xp with my gig machine & i use vista for my editing machine. so i feel ya on vista. its fine for the most part. but not for serato. I've had 1 on 1 expierience with this problem.

it's just to try it out fellas. some of us are poor. I am not afraid to say. so I will try to make work what is available. If that means working with a laptop below specs BUT.....works without a problem then thats good enough for me. U are right D-twizzle I would love up to date equipment but it's not realistic right now so I give a little hope for all those in my shoes. So I'm not really bugging on low spec laps working, I'm being realistic son.

undersdtood. but video is a BIG step. getting a new laptop & equipment is the cheapest thing. The video content is where the money is.
