You will see what ever is on the background of your computer, unless your computer crashes in which case you will probably get nothing.

If VSL crashes it will automatically be restarted within a few seconds. I don't know what happens in the meantime.

It will display the background. Which it may be a good idea to set to black so it will be less noticeable if this does happen...

But then yes, video should start immediately.

If it shows the desktop background, you should make your wallpaper your dj logo or something similar to look at.
