Serato Video General Discussion

Talk about Serato Video and Video-SL.

Couple of things

DJ DMT 8:33 AM - 30 December, 2007
Ok I have a toshiba T 2400 @ 1.84 ghz centrino duo intel with a dedicated graphics card, and 1 gig of ram! so the video plugin works, i see everything, however I've noticed a couple of things. Sometimes the middle preview screen goes to like a compress image with a line across the center with the video, but if i mimamize and reopen sometimes it comes back. Also any cue points I have set have not been showing up the next time I reload the video. I have noticed cracking and popping in the audio too. The other thing is that most of the transition effects show up, but I can't scroll down the entire menu. So if I increase the ram to like 2-4 gigs would that help or is my speed to slow? I love video already!! Oh ya one HUGE problem there's this Big Ass DEMO all over the output and I can't full screen it......wink....how can I fix that one???

Upgrade your memory to 2GB if you can - the cracking and popping audio along with image issues are all probably from running 1GB of memory.

The cue points not saving are a known bug the Serato team is working on.

or maybe it's the fact that the proscessor minimum requirments are 2 ghz and your running 1.8 as well as the ram is supposed to be 2 g and your runing 1...
so your way below the minimums.... just a thought...but if your suposed to be at a certian level of quality and your runnig below then it's not suprising your having issues with the quality... just a thought...I've been trying liek crazy to find a cpu that has the minimums and is afordable and well if you can figure out a way to make your accpetable then thats reasuring...please if you can figure this out and get it runnign clean hit me up!!! cuz i don't really wnat to get a desktop built for me to use if i can find a laptop that'll cover it...for under five bills

The cue points not saving on video only? or any new tracks that I mark? thanks!

Do you have a screenshot of this? I don't think I've seen this one before.

As DJ Lil Vito said, this is one we are working on. It only effects video tracks and only on drives other than the main one.

The transitions can be scrolled by using the 57. In Group 5 (the video group) make sure you are on 'Deck 2' (which we use to control transitions) and then click either P1 or P2 and twist it to scroll the list. Click again to select the transition.

buy the program...for the last one...the rest...is beyond me...
so nathan can you give me some answers on what is up with the video? like can we run a live input? what kind of effects area vailable?
cuz right now this is defenitly cheape rthen buying a dvj however if it doesn't allow me soem of my commonly used tricks for effectign video(i get this wicked visuals dude what program are you running when i normally layer loop add some effects and run feedback through it all no comp unless i'm using it as one of the layers....) so I'm wonderign if this gives me the ap's i want or if i should just buy the damn vj-4 mixer and save money and put that towards projectors... can you atleast help fill me in on what i want to know cuz i can't fidn any info on the video sl and am gettign tired of asking

waffelz,
No to live input, not possible yet and I'm not sure if it's something that will be looked at in the future it's not really what VSL seems to be about.

Effects and transitions lists are in the manual download here => www.scratchlive.net

Basically the program allows you to play, scratch and mix two video files using the effects and transitions listed in the manual all controlled by the TTM 57SL mixer and a pair of turntables/CD players.

Thanks nobspangle, that pretty much answers the questions for me :-)

We have a long list of cool things we want to do or have already started, one of which is live feed input.

One of the ways we had thought of / have used Video-SL is as one input into a video mixer which can then be used to mix between live feeds, ambients, and the output of Video-SL. At least until we do these too this is a good solution ;-)

so I'll still need to go buy a vj-4 to do what i want eh??
well i think for now maybe I'll do that and get arkoas....i have decks..but I'd like to be able to scratch video...however i think i can manage mocking it in video programs(since i have already) and just use my dvd recorder to take my master as a layer instead of just my master and thusly add on since i can't loop a scratch anyways or program it in...damn...
waffelz 3:34 AM - 4 January, 2008
maybe not...just got screwed on the rent tip(buddys lady took off with it) so my expenses just jumped...
waffelz 2:08 PM - 4 January, 2008
man i looked everywhere i could tryign to find out the info on the video sl so thank you very much for hooking me up the right direction to look...
waffelz 2:15 PM - 4 January, 2008
ok so it has basic effects and transitions then eh...but i can control the video through a turntable or cdj...still cheaper then buying a dvj...even if i need the v-4 to provide me with what i need to do what i normally do...too bad the laptop i just bought sems to be ahving SOME issue
