talking about slipmats..... is anyone using slikmats? slikmats.com I've been toying with the idea of getting two, custom printed. They will custom print your own design onto them for no extra charge. My current mats are just the standard crappy 'technics' ones that every single dealer throws in with your deck purchase. They are quite rough and don't slip very well at all. Maybe we could have a design competition to design an SSL slipmat to be printed by these guys? It would sure be better than any designs that I've come up with......

Yep, just got a pair with my own design. They're really smooth and slippy, very good IMHO. I can only recommend those. AND: these guys are quick! Took only about a week from england to germany including manufacturing. (PLUS: again, you can add you own design! HOT ISH!)

BTW, I'm a freelance graphics designer. Would you Guys like for me to design one? (Is that okay with the serato guys?) Maybe you'd like to send me your logos, I'd design one, send it to y'all for approving, then if you'd like it, we could release 'em to the users on this board, so they can make their own "Slikmats" (Just an idea, get back to me...)

I've got the stock Numark slipmats that came with my tables and have been toying with the idea of buying some new *cool* looking slipmats. Then I thought, whats the point? The SSL records hardly ever come off anyway.

lol. Youre right about this. But some SSL users mix with vinyl and the SSL records, would make sense for those.

if we could get a mat that was designed to work better with the ssl records, then i would go for it (if that's even possible to do).
i know MOST people like the record to slip a lot.
personally i mix only, so i like it to grab a little bit more.
that's just my personal preference though.
if serato did some mats though i'd buy 'em, as long as they were sexxxyyyy!!!! lol,
Josh

Actually ,,,
www.ScratchTools.com does the custom printing too...same printing process....for the Scratch Ninjas I have a few designs that I created here in the lab...It is a few different materials that are fused together then die cut and printed...all done in-house and were intended to please the Butter Rug users and allow for the dye printing aswell...
users include...Dj Radar, Dj Quest...and the Great Dj Focus too! :-)
One of the well known super star crews are about to release their imprint on them...can't say who cause it is still in the process...
How come there is lots of interest in the slipmats and there is none in Shakira being naked? :-)...
Still waiting on my Serato (hhhmm hint) but from what I remember it was as close to real scratching as it gets....tried the cdx1 the other day and...it was coo...but seemed like I was chewing on a popsicle...

i can already see the first slipmats with SERATO/RANE written all over them in graffiti. A dj with two turntables a mixer and a large laptop. Hmmm...maybe 17 inch computer with a APPLE logo. Sounds like the best promotional tool to date next to my free Rane tshirt and stickers that came in the mail.

talking about that SSL T Shirt, how about some? :-)
Pioneer give away free swag to their board members so that they can wear stuff to gigs to promote products etc. I'd happily wear an SSL T Shirt down to the gym and to anywhere I play out
Could be expensive, but good(?) advertising
:D
