well from testing... the SL1 kinda does already....... But not for the actual video part, some of the video files you can play as audio files in SSL with the SL1 once you install the video plug-in and turn it on, some codecs work like that some dont (butthat might be b/c of my slow computer b/c the ones that dont just sound choppy) I have found that files that i have that are in .mov format will play as audio files.... but avi's are chopped up and a little scrambled when playing as audio file, a one that is coded as a .mpeg does not show to have any audio at all (but it plays fine in quicktime and in VDJ). But like i said... i cant test to see if they work right for my with video b/c i dont have a 57.

Oh bro hot you get once a month and its only mainstream videos. Express Video is EVERY VIDEO, like every video from rock to house to Christian, folk, Urban i mean everything and heres the kicker, you get them every week! Can you werk that By Quick came out 2 months earlier on Express then it did on hot. Express also includes Hot! It's 99.00 a month direct with drawn from your account, but if your charging what you should be for doing video then thats nothing to pay for keeping super currant with you video collection. i love it cause my time is valuable I don't want to be hunting down videos all damn day, i want to be making video mashups with my time and Express video makes it so i don't worry about where I'm getting all my videos from or if i'll have them when I need them. 99 a month, to me for what i do its a life saver.

Nope. But we know what it is and are working on it now.
Added it to the download notes now. Yes it is supported although can be a little temperamental. Is it the audio or the video that is 'chopped up and scrambled'?

Thankyou very much James. I was hoping to use VSL though, but at least now I'm ready when the bugs are fixed. Another thing I notice is that that the frames per second count on VSL goes crazy when I play a video, though audio plays and white screens appear, the frame count is going high and low! So Santa James will you and Rudolph Serato fix this by Christmas? happy holidays

I've done it and I was able to do it in less then a week to about 6500 videos. I did use a team of computers encoding around the clock though. Hint think many computers and networking with one single shared hard drive. You getting the picture? It's a lot of computing power but all you really gotta do is rip em the first time then batch convert. It's not hard.
I love how I hear DJ's constantly whining about carrying heavy gear or encoding or organizing, Lol It is a job. right? Lol some of this stuff is work. Compare how much you make and how much other people make with how much manual labor you do versus how much they do. I'll choose DJing. I find comfort in the fact that most djs are lazy and don't take the time I do to do all this work. It lets me know I'll have a job tomorrow while other will be confused why they struggle to pay bills.

I have the computers [PC's] for the task, I'm no dummy at networking or sharing drives..
BUT, this forum is lacking for PC owners that own LARGE .VOB catalogs of videos, that are in need of converting them as a batch process. Pointing at a file, one by one for an 800 gig library is out of the question.
As for your stab at me regarding my whine, I'm aware of the toils, I know what a bitch it is to build up a collection, ripping, labeling, sorting... and your short answer is still worthless, you didn't define a path with software for a batch process [selecting a folder full of .VOB files] and letting it run for days on end to get the files encoded to a .mp4 which has been described as the best for SL Video. thanks anyway

It wasn't a stab at just you it's an observation I've made about a lot of people. Video is seriously a ton of work. You need Magic Video Converter.
It took me 3 day on 1 computer to convert 1000 videos running around the clock.
Heres the settings which I will repost as its own thread.
Magic Video Converter best configuration for converting Vob. to Mov.
1. Select Mov (not MP4)
2. In Profile Select: Quicktime DVD Quality
3. Then select: Edit Profile
4. In the Mov. Profile Editor Select h264 encoding, 4600 bitrate
5. Then select: Change dimensions and change Size to 720 X 480
6. Select frame rate to be auto and Aspect auto
7. Under the Audio tab select 256 Kbps with the Sample rate of 48000 and Channels 2 (stereo)
There's are the setting I use and they work great
