Taking Vocals Temporarily Out of Songs

I have not been able to find anything on this subject yet, but maybe someone could help me. I was wondering if there was an effect or way to cut vocals out of songs completely and then thrown them back in at a whim's notice. For examply, cutting vocals out of a song coming in or going out and using for mashups on the fly.

I use the Rane TTM 57-SL and do not know if there is a way to program an effect in or what not. I know I can take the Mid range knob and turn that down to cut out the vocals somewhat, but you can still hear them a little bit and it also take key instrumental parts of the song out with it.

If anyone could help or has advice that would be great.

Can't be done.

Vocals will almost always be in the same frequency range as some instrumentation on the track.

It can be done better in the studio with multi-band EQ but never perfectly, it's always a compromise. Certainly not something you can do live.

Either get acapella versions or you'll just have to use the rough 3-band EQ approximation.

That's what I figured. Thanks for the input though!
