Hybrid Mode Vs. Native (HID) Mode

Hey guys first time poster here. I have been debating in my head for a while not between getting the DN-S3700's and CDJ 850-k's/900's (depends what price I can pull on 900's). They are both great players I know that. I love CDJ's have always been a fan and I have never used spinning platters before hense the interest in the 3700's also I can get a great deal on the 3700's if I want them. The big thing for me is Timecode CD's. I hate them I never liked using them it never made sense to me that I couldn't use all the features of CDJ's except play and pause now I know Denon and Serato will never be native together but my question is what is the difference between Hybrid mode and Native mode (3700's vs. 850's) I get the set up differences but I don't get the control differences. Is there any difference? I love using the 850's in HID mode but have never used the 3700's in hybrid. Can someone fill me in? Thanks guys!
Oh and no Pioneer/Denon fanboy bullshit I will get what works best for me not what you tell me to get I have been around long enough to know what works and what doesn't and what the industry standard "is'.

Hybrid means no interactive lights on the Denon unit.
However, there is rumors about a DN3900 coming, supposedly native to SSL.

Is that the only difference?
3900 project has been on pause for a long time. Probably will never happen unfortunately. Even if there was a 3900 that would be supported natively so would the 3700 and the 1200. That would be like having the CDJ 2000 natively supported but the 900 and 850 not. Not trying to insult you at all I am just saying it's more business than technology.

My background is Technics 1210, and I always prefer them to CDJs.
Still instances when I need to bring gear, sometimes the CDJ1000MK3 is more convenient.
So I go with what I need for the occation > farm8.staticflickr.com
Just like you, I was considering motorized cd platters. Add to that, I dig Denon gear. I use the HC1000S on most gigs, have a few friends all rocking the x1700, great stuff indeed. However, the hybrid mode is NOT native supported by Serato. So you don't get info in the led display, and no lights for the buttons. To me, that's a big deal in a dark booth. Might not be for you, everyone have their own preferences.
Anyway those are the real differences.
So I'm gonna wait it out some time before I let the CDJ1000mk3's go...
If I wanted a good "affordable" native player at the moment, Id probably choose the CDJ850.
Here's another thread about these > serato.com

im with warp note. i honestly like the 1000mk3 platter better than the 850/900(i have 900s), but of course you wouldn't have HID, which is what you want.

I have a pair of the Denon HS5500s with spinning platters. I have the timecode on a Mini Flash drive (along with 16 gig of backup music). I agree, it is a shame to not be able to use any of the effects built into the Denons but I prefer the feel of the spinning platters over CDJs. I also use the Denon HC1000s for queue points, track selection, looping, etc... and a Korg NanoKontrol for ME, effects, etc... so the only time I touch my Macbook is to do a search.

I've only tried the 850 &900 in the local dj store.
The places I play either have 2000 or 1000, or even 800.
So, Goodkat, whats the main difference when it comes to the platter on the 850/900?
I can't really tell much difference between 1000 and 2000. But the 800 is a little worse imo.

800s and 900s are similar, and 1000s and 2000s are similar as far as build quality. another thing is that the 1/2k have 2 separate start/stop knobs.

I thought it was only possible on a PC.
How is this done on a Mac?

I have the 3700s and use them in Hybrid mode. A few of the effects on the 3700 will not work in Hybrid mode. LED lights not working? No big deal. I have massive fun with these decks, perhaps because I like to scratch and spin a lot.
In my opinion, Serato was really built for turntablists and scratchers, making the S3700 a great match. I like the CDJs, but I can't scratch and spin with them like Technics turntables. I would rather use CDJs for straight beatmatching, but Technics or Denon 3700s for tricks and turntablism.
Personally, I would wait out for the SC3900 that will come out in a few months. Lots of cool new features will debut with this new deck!
