When closing the itch program with ns6 connected and when ns6 is not connected the itch application crashes and I get a pop up window that says (itch application has stopped working)

The laptop is plugged in. I have uninstalled re-installed itch program and drivers. I have connected the NS6 through all of the available usb ports. I have renamed database file to _corrupt, relaunched itch and continue to get the crash/pop up window. I've reinstalled the program without opening any music files; I simply launch the program wait 10 seconds then close the program and I continue to get the same crash.

Itch otherwise works properly, mixed up to 45 mins without any noticeable problems or glitches. Itch crashes upon closing the program (no audio files in any of the decks)

Hey Dave The One,

Are you using an external Hard Drive? Does it still crash when that is disconnected?

Lets also look at the Serato Folder in Music folder. Do you have a serato backup folder here too? Do you have any music or crates in you ITCH library right now?

Regards

Hey Dave W; thanks for your reply.
I'm not using an external hard drive with the laptop. I'm just now testing it on my laptop. I was using an external hard drive with the Mac desktop where I have no problems.

Yes I have a serato backup folder in the music folder.

I did not create a crate yet because of the crashing. When I install a new program I do the bare minimum so that I can isolate any problems quickly, so I am only working with one file. No crates or anything other than the one file.

I've also uninstalled and re-installed itch and the ns6 drivers several times (fresh reboot each time) and this still happens. Again it works great while the application is open and i'm mixing, looping etc..this also happens when the NS6 is not plugged in and i'm just using itch to playback music or select loops etc.. same crash upon exiting.

To be clear; initially I installed Itch fresh on my HP Envy 14 Beats edition laptop; the laptop is plugged in. With the NS6 turned on I launch itch; go to the files tab in itch and load an mp3 from my itunes library. I can play the file; load it on deck b, mix back and forth; use the effects, loop. All works well. When I am ready to close/shutdown itch I simply exit, the prompt comes up asking me if i'm sure I want to exit, I select yes the app closes and about 2 seconds later I get a prompt saying itch application has stopped working.
This is the crash log from windows (not your specific one that I attached to this help request)

Hey Dave The One,

O.k , I'll get you to just recreate your _Serato_ folder inside the Music folder.
Just rename it 'OLD_Serato_' then open up ITCH and see if that fixes it.

If that doesn't work...

- Do you have anything else plugged into your computer?
- Does it crash everytime? If you leave it open for a few minutes before closing does it still crash?

Hey Dave,

Nothing else is plugged into the computer.

It only crashes after exiting itch.

I've tested leaving itch open for a few minutes before closing it and it still crashes.

Just for arguments sake, I right clicked on itch and chose troubleshoot compatibility and it suggested running in windows xp sp1 mode. I didn't choose that option, is serato a 32 bit app?
Dave The One 12:29 AM - 25 January, 2012
I think i'm on to something. I tried setting different screen resolutions. In fact the minimum 1024 X 768 and I'm not getting the crash. This is not a useable resolution for me but I'm glad after days and days of optimizing and uninstalling/re-installing that I think I stumbled on to something.

Going to go through all screen resolutions and report back.
Dave The One 1:02 AM - 25 January, 2012
Here goes.

1024x768 - no crash on exit (meaning i have no crash yay!!!)
1280x600 - Itch won't even open, it says itch requires minimum of 1024x700 to open
1280x768 - different crash message; itch prompt pops up after exit that says "encountered improper argument
1280x720 - Crash (as posted above in my windows crash log "itch has stopped working"
1360x768 - Crash (as posted above....)
1366x768 - Crash as posted above

I did further testing; on every resolution I hit the maximize/restore down button (the one that's in the middle shaped like a square box to the right of the minimize and left of the red x to close the window) and itch closes without the crash.

In other words when the Itch application is taken out of full screen mode (by pressing maximize/restore down button) I no longer experience the crash.

I hope this was helpful and I hope this can somehow be resolved in an update or in some other way.

Thank you for your help, When I purchase a product I try to get 110 percent out of it and won't quit when there is an issue like this, it made me try things (troubleshoot compatibility and screen resolution)

Itch is a great program and I look forward to using it as my main application for deejaying.

I'll credit this to just re-teaching myself the logic truth tables and solving statements yesterday to help my son study for his exams.

Hey Dave The One,

Sorry about this situation, haven't heard of this happening before. I'm going to go talk to the developers about this issue.

Do you mind just trying to install ITCH 2.0 to see if the same issue happens? This could help us see if it's just a recent problem. However as you seem to have a minor solution for it and don't want to risk it. Don't worry unless you don't mind.

:-0

Just kidding.

Would it be best to uninstall 2.1 or should I try to run both?
Dave The One 1:29 AM - 25 January, 2012
BTW; I think there was someone else that had the same exact problem in one of the three threads that I started about this (my apologies) I believe he had the same exact laptop too.
serato.com
I just gave him the heads up.
Dave The One 1:50 AM - 25 January, 2012
I uninstalled 2.1 and installed 2.01, I get the different crash message on 1366x768 resolution that says "encountered improper argument"

So i guess the best solution for now is to take Itch out of full screen mode and then close out/exit to avoid the crash (or maybe serato devs can add some code to do it automatically in an update)

PS
I'd love to beta test itch (video, bridge) if an opportunity exists.

Close out request/delete thread.
I give up.
