Help; itch crashes on exit

Dave The One 4:04 PM - 22 January, 2012
I created a help request; no one has gotten back to me.

When closing the itch program with ns6 connected and when ns6 is not connected the itch application crashes and I get a pop up window that says (itch application has stopped working)

The laptop is plugged in. I have uninstalled re-installed itch program and drivers. I have connected the NS6 through all of the available usb ports. I have renamed database file to _corrupt, relaunched itch and continue to get the crash/pop up window. I've reinstalled the program without opening any music files; I simply launch the program wait 10 seconds then close the program and I continue to get the same crash.

Itch otherwise works properly, mixed up to 45 mins without any noticeable problems or glitches. Itch crashes upon closing the program (no audio files in any of the decks)

I had that same problem everytime i closed itch with the ns7. Works fine and all but when closing wth? Always getting that pop up. That is until i bought a vestax vfx-1 and then it never crashes afterwards. Weird though. Did you check to see if you have any corrupted files in there? Gotta remove asap or re encode them. But even itch cant always find corrupt tracks alone. But of course renaming the databases didnt help me either.

Anyone know why this keeps on happening with windows & why when i bought the vfx-1 it never crashed again?

i have the same thing happen 99% of the time when i exit itch, never bothers me tho as im closing itch down anyways
skinnyguy 11:38 PM - 22 January, 2012
Don't exit :P
DJ BACARDI SILVA 12:04 AM - 23 January, 2012
I'm having the same problem with my NS6 and HP Envy 14 Beats Edition.
I only have 1 CD of music loaded so far to test it, so I know its nothing to do with corrupt files.
Hopefully someone will post fix soon.

I don't own any itch hardware but also always crashed for me when closing the offline player, scratchlive closes fine. So i never did buy an itch controller. That was on my pc i have now got a macbook pro and itch offline player closes fine everytime.

Wow; disappointing to say the least that no one from Serato has Ben
bothered to respond. Is this normal to expect from Serato?
phatbob 1:51 AM - 24 January, 2012
It's quite normal for a help request posted at the weekend to not get responded to until after the weekend, yes.

Pretty sure Serato don't have their support staff working 24/7.
Dave The One 7:42 PM - 24 January, 2012
Yes, I see; it's very easy to get agitated when you want a quick answer and realize that there are hundreds of other people that also need help.

Now i'm patiently waiting my turn.

Serato, please don't forget me.

Best Regards,

Dave

Hey Dave,

Our Dave has just replied to you in your thread.
I'm sure it's no biggie and he'll get you sorted :)
Dave The One 11:48 PM - 24 January, 2012
Thanks!

Dj Bacardi; I found something; maybe you can try this too.

Here goes.

1024x768 - no crash on exit (meaning i have no crash yay!!!)
1280x600 - Itch won't even open, it says itch requires minimum of 1024x700 to open
1280x768 - different crash message; itch prompt pops up after exit that says "encountered improper argument
1280x720 - Crash (as posted above in my windows crash log "itch has stopped working"
1360x768 - Crash (as posted above....)
1366x768 - Crash as posted above

I did further testing; on every resolution I hit the maximize/restore down button (the one that's in the middle shaped like a square box to the right of the minimize and left of the red x to close the window) and itch closes without the crash.

In other words when the Itch application is taken out of full screen mode (by pressing maximize/restore down button) I no longer experience the crash.

I hope this was helpful and I hope this can somehow be resolved in an update or in some other way.
Dave The One 1:27 AM - 25 January, 2012
woops; I forgot the top part of my solution was to go to screen resolution and try these settings.
Dave The One 1:28 AM - 25 January, 2012
The short of it is to use the maximize/restore down to take itch out of full screen mode before shutting it down and it closes without crash.
Dave The One 1:30 AM - 25 January, 2012
Thanks everyone for chiming in; I appreciate all the help and input.
DJ BACARDI SILVA 4:38 AM - 27 January, 2012
Thanks Dave, I just discovered something also. I moved the taskbar from the bottom of the screen to the right hand side and it closes fine with no crash!!

No minimizing or screen resolution change.

Let me know if that works for you too.
Dave The One 6:28 AM - 27 January, 2012
DJ Bacardi, Nice one! That works too! Good lookin out with that one!
LJ_WOOLSEY 1:19 PM - 27 January, 2012
Intresting. Nice find
billynoah 3:14 AM - 27 May, 2012
awesome. this fixes my problem. please, someone at serato investigate this and implement a software update with a real fix.
Dave The One 2:42 PM - 27 May, 2012
Yeah. moving the taksbar or minimizing serato itch screen (taking it out of full screen mode) changes the screen resolution and allows the program to close without crashing.

Yes; Serato should have fixed this a long time ago.......
