Serato, you guys have made my day.

I purchased a vestax typhoon a few months ago so i could have something all-in-one that would easily fit in my dj-bag when I didn't feel like lugging the techs out of my house. It's been sitting in a drawer collecting dust (or used as a ssl midi controller). Never been a fan of Traktor or VDJ, but you guys have made it so that I feel that I more than got my moneys worth for this gear. Thank you for bringing new life into a piece of gear that has been severely under appreciated.

Definitely post some reviews. I'm considering the Typhoon for those gigs ,like yourself, where I don't feel like lugging the tables out.

I'm seeing a bunch of help requests for people who can't get Intro to detect the Typhoon, is it OK with you?

I was thinking about getting one of those because of the reasonable price (even before this Intro came out). Now I'm hesitant because of the help requests that I see.

Thanks for the feedback, I'm glad to hear that the release Serato DJ Intro has been positive for you. How are you finding it?

The Typhoon not being detected issue is generally quite simple to resolve, just follow these steps:

1) Ensure Serato DJ Intro is closed and connect your Vestax Typhoon.
2) Open Finder and go to the Applications > Utilities folder and run the Audio MIDI Setup application.
3) Click on the Window option in the toolbar and select "Show MIDI Window".
4) Scroll along and look for the Typhoon in the connected devices, it should show as "TYPHOON DJ-Controller". If it is connected, but shows as something other than this (e.g. "USB MIDI Device") then try the following:
5) Disconnect the Vestax Typhoon.
6) Whatever device name it was showing as, click to select this in the MIDI window.
7) Click the Remove Device button.
8) Reconnect the Vestax Typhoon, it should now correctly display as the "TYPHOON DJ-Controller".

That should do it :D

I agree. I purchased the Typhoon back in March 2011. I've used it with VDJ and Traktor. I chose Traktor over VDJ. The scratching "felt" more realistic.

Then I found out about Intro and downloaded it last night. No problems with Intro recognizing the Typhoon. IMMEDIATELY noticed the response time with the jog wheels and just about every button and knob. That did it for me right there. The jog wheels for scratching? Almost instantaneous with almost zero lag. Very close to the response of the NS7 with Itch. And definitely better than Traktor Pro 2, despite the many parameters I tried with the rotary settings.

Then I started adding my "crates". I didn't have to rescan all of my songs. It recognized the bpms, I guess, from Traktor. So, time was saved right there. I like how the songs show up in the crates right away as opposed to Traktor, which does a scan everytime you change folders. The effects are nice. Abundant for any Top 40's DJ. I actually like the filter mapping/algorithm better as well - I like how it resets the filters everytime you engage them. Very sweet.

Again, I can't stress enough the vast and noticeable improvement with the response time, especially with the jogs. I can scratch with confidence. Almost no delay with anything really. Thank you Serato for making my Vestax Typhoon fun again. I was starting to doubt it. All along it was software that was holding me back a bit. I liked my Typhoon with Traktor. I played nice gigs with it with no serious issues. But I love it now with Intro. Looking forward to my gig end of March. :)
