Hi I've spent hours with Numark Tech Support and HP. The NS 6 is still not working. I spoke with a tech named Jeff.. D (can't remember the last name). He tried manually updating the firmware using the midi updater. Is the firmware version 1.13 that comes with this package. My current firmware version is 1.03 (k1)
The Midiupdater status just ran but did not update the firmware. Jeff asked about my usb type. I looked at the Numark NS6 usb in Device manager and shared with him that it did not display enhanced out to the side of its name. After some thought and looking at the other USB connections displayed only 2 of the 13 displayed enhanced and those devices were not connected to my laptop at the time, only the Numark NS6.
I called HP because I still have an extended warranty on my laptop. They confirmed by my laptops product number that the usb ports are indeed compatible with BOTH 1.0, 1.1, and 2.0 usb drivers. I have had digital cameras and camcorders that are usb 2.0 devices connected to this laptop with no problem. If the ports were only 1.0 the devices would not have been recognized anyway.. I think the USB issue is ruled out.. I made additional troubleshooting attempts:\
\
• Device Manager displays the USB 2.9.25 driver and its updated
• The NS6 Audio panel states that its connected. Firmware 1.03 (k1)
•
I Followed imixmags suggestions, although the dj is actually using a Macbook Pro, to install itch 1.7.1, and then 1.8. He had to return his device to Guitar Center eventually ..
pls see these videos if you need to.

His attempts with his Macbook Pro did not work on my T6400, 2MB L2 Cache, 2.0 Ghz, Intel 2 Core Duo Entertainment Pc..
However, this installation did allow me to go through the steps of clearing the old Firmware, the cue button blinked as I pressed down fwd, load a and load b while powering on whereas it didn’t before when I uninstalled and reinstalled itch 1.8. a few times after talking to tech support.
So, Im back where I was when I got off the phone earlier and after getting confirmation from HP about the usb port being a 2.0 port.
The Midi update just displays a message "Looking for Sys Ex Update Device to update.Firmware 0.00" The status bar just runs still although the NS6' Audio Panel displays connected and there are no errors in Device Manager on the usb port. My unit powers up unlike the imixmags eventual failure of the NS6 connected to the Macbook Pro. He took his back to Guitar Center because he had no power. I have had power to the NS6 all day. pls advise.. thanks. Signed,..

Hey RealTired,
Sorry for the slow reply to this. I can imagine this must be very frustrating. Just to confirm, when you spoke to Numark they got you to manually update the firmware?
Also, could you confirm that your issue is just that the NS6 doesn't connect?
Have you tried uninstalling any instances of the NS6 in the device manager and then re-running the ITCH 1.8.1 installer with the NS6 hardware connected?
Also, are you able to download a program called MIDI Ox? You can find this here:
www.midiox.com
Can you please connect your NS6 after you have installed ITCH, run this program and try select the NS6 as a midi input device in the MIDI devices menu? You will need to select it in the MIDI outputs section of this window. Could you then open the input monitor in the view menu. Let me know if your NS6 is sending MIDI signals by just twisting a knob or pushing a button? You should see the notes on the screen if it is.
After you have run this could you try opening ITCH again and let me know if it connects?
Cheers,
Sam.

Hey eboss2,
A number of users have ran into this same problem unfortunately. I have attached a zip file to this thread containing instructions on how to 'force' update your firmware. This seems to fix the issue for most users running into this same problem. If it does not work for you, you will need to get into contact with Numark support directly and they should be able to help you out :)
