Mac OS or Windows? Do you leave it for a while or do you do something more drastic?

I'm using windows , and I dont leave it on for a while nore do any thing drastic at all I'm just closing the program after my gig and i make shure that nothing is running and press the x to close out I't only happens sometimes Thank you The Unknown Just

What I mean is after you press the (X) how long do you wait before trying something. Sometimes scratch live does some cleanup work at the end especially if your library file is large. If you press close and it sits there for a while, do you just let it do its thing or do you try to make it exit by using the task bar or something?

The reason I ask is because I have never seen the "application not responding" message unless you try to get a program to exit by some external means, otherwise the OS wouldn't notice that the app was not responding because there would be nothing to respond to.

OK I understand all I do is press x and then press exit from the program not the task bar or any thing else I get the erorr and then it closes and i get the send erorr message
