okay, i just picked up a ipod to be used as my external HD for music. Before buying the ipod, i was using a external hd to store and label all my mp3s using itunes. Now the problem I'm having is that, when using the ipod as my new HD, the data that I patiently typed and organized in itunes is no longer there.

I'm able to play and retieve the music from the ipod, BUT all the important data/playlists etc..is unuseable. Is there something that I did wrong.. Did I forget to move another folder besides the folder with all the mp3 files.

OLD SYSTEM
EXTERNAL HD - OK
ITUNES - OK
ID3 TAGS - OK
SMART PLAYLISTS - OK

NEW SYSTEM
IPOD - OK
ITUNES - NO
ID3 TAGS - NO
SMART PLAYLIS - NO

I hope this made sense.

Did you move the mp3 Folder from your HDD to your iPod? Because if yes, you also moved the iTunes XML file, in which it stores all the information concerning tags, playlists etc. If you want to get it right, put the music folder back on your harddrive, and then... copy your MP3s directly in iTunes onto your iPod, which should mount there as well.
