About Cutwoman : I totally agree that I´d have to back up the name with serious skills . I can cut properly and practise some basic scratches but am definitely not Shortee, Annalyze or Tyra from Saigon (never was my aim ) .

I agree that my name is boring (not really a 70s porn name though) and I suggest you take something a little boring yourself. People who are from the old school get a pass for having names that are terrible, for example: "funkmaster flex."

How about "Amy Rocks!" just drop the DJ. Its a more flexible name too, for the future.

I wanted to make a suggestion, what about DJ Spinamee, prounounced (Spin-ah-meee), for a play on your real name.

Robyn Hood is cool as well.

Hip Hope is cool too but from a marketing aspect, you don't want to really 'label' yourself if you know what I mean.

Keep your name generic in a sense that way people have to wonder when they see your DJ name.

Lately, a lot of people have been asking me where did Quartz come from?

I've always been a techy dude so, when I was about 12, I had to choose between Mad Scientist and something else.

I chose Quartz because I noticed it was used in many devices that require synchronization.

Quartz is a rock found in the Earth that has piezo-electrical properties, I won't get into all that jargon though.

Last but not least this is what made the final decision...

Technics 1200 use Quartz crystals to assist with controlling the pitch and rotational speed of the platter.

So.... since DJ turntables are Quartz controlled, I control the turntables therefore became....

Yeah, when I tell people that story they usually sit for half a minute and look at me.

Then their first response is wow you put some thought into that, I thought it was just a random name.

That's funny, the 1st thing I thought of when I saw your name was that you based it off of a 1200, and that you consider yourself "precise" like that...

Then again, when I FIRST got my 1200's, I didn't believe that 2 independent turntables could be matched in speed EXACTLY....

I spend many a night trying to prove the Quartz accuracy wasn't really possible...

I obviously was dead wrong...as a matter of fact, I used to test it having 2 "Identical" records play from beginning to end, and see if there was any drift...

On one test, I was comparing "Good Times" (obviously), to another copy of Good Times, and it wouldn't lock...

So I was like "A-HA!" I knew there would be some drift, but after closer inspection, I noticed that I was comparing a CANADIAN PRESSING vs. a DOMESTIC PRESSING...

The 1200 Quartz Lock wins again..

Not to mention my company is called Quartz Locked Productions... :D

Back on topic thought,

If you chose Cutwoman, get practicing on those cuts, scratches, etc...
