Look at how the vsl forum is gettin more and more popular each day. A couple years ago their was a very little number of posts/people here, and as everybody realize how wicked video mixing is, we will see more and more VDJs frauds. I mean, we see them already mixing youtube vids and complaining vsl is crashin on them. And now fucking thieves!!!
Im sure the boss of wonderland knows who it is because he is paying that guy for "his edits". If he wanna be respected, not only should he put up well rendered redits, but he should definately blast the thiefs name on the front page of his pool.

question... was there more to the video other than using that video version with that audio version? I mean like effects, etc... That would be an identifier of it really being yours. Just thinking of both sides to this. Because what if I was thinking of doing that same audio to that video and put it out somewhere. Would that be coincidence? I agree with using hidden watermarks though... keeps them from jacking your edits whether it be a straight edit or something that was with a lot of effects, syncing, etc.

It keeps people from really using Promo Only now for their edits... since they put their very visible watermarks in their videos.

MixMash has their watermark that isn't too intrusive but visible enough to know it is theirs.

no, i dont really go crazy with the effects. but that remix isnt even that big of a remix, it flew under the radar. and to keep from this happening i used the alternate video, and not the official. and throw in that these guys have a history of stealing others vidz and reposting it on their website.

Ya Henry, I totally agree with you. It's enough work as it is to just download each video from each editor then upload each one to the pool. And yes, Paul should hire someone to screen everything before it goes up...However, I believe there are a lot more people who love the site then there are who are so critical of it. The people who mostly always do complain about it are the video editors, and not the regular joe schmo DJs. And the owner of 8thwonders, who is Paul, is the coolest person I've ever worked for in any job. There's nothing bad I can say about him, he definitely gives a lot of upcoming video editors a place to start, so at least give him that!

Umm I'm a regular Joe schmo DJ I guess lol but I choice to play quality edits....I would think its more because of the price more so than the quality....If They upped their price comparable to some of the better pools I would drop 8th in a second....but for the price it cost I don't even notice I have been charged for the service...hell I spend 3/4 times that amount weekly on pay sites for videos so for 10 bucks a month if a get a couple John Cha edits then it was worth it

Dead wrong Muerte, just as audio remixers get credit the same should be done with video editors. Some of these videos have days of work involved, sometimes longer then it takes to make the audio. Its not even close to a easy task, just encoding properly is a mission for most. Many up comings & pools are still scratching there head, shit labels can't get it right.

You ever watch a movie? Even grips get credits, a stand in gets a credit (alot less work then editing a video)

yeah that totally makes sense! i guess it takes someone to open peoples eyes to what video editing takes, and the hours put into it..

i know when i do an audio edit, i have spent 14 off and on hours one one edit. and ive only experimented with video.. and knowing everyone.. and hearing everyone whine about the rendering. it only makes sense to feel someones pain on this.

there is too much that goes in a good edit. credit needs to be given. no editor is becoming rich off of one edit. the least the editor can get is credit and respect.

just under the original chyron i put "tomato slice re-re-edit" at the very least the original work is still credited.

but i think having a plug in that covers the chyron at certain points is good. not all the time, but just when the chyrons appear. like u know how u have cues in a song and u can set the cue? same thing with the plug in. im sure it can be done?

And thats just what some djs want. Covering up the credits is so wack. If you are worried about the next dj seeing the credits and going and downloading that certain mix, then imo you must have low skills. Maybe Im different, but I dont mind credits. First and foremost it gives the artist recognition, as well as the remixer/editor. If I were to go to a spot that had a quartz file or some other method like a dj logo covering the bottom left of the screen, I would immediately think that the dj is a sucker.

Sorry guys. I TOTALLY feel ya on that... but, being in the biz for over 25 years, I have seen things change, evolve... And the Internet is mainly responsible... Here is the low down and legal ramifications... #1 you can't edit any original video by any accredited artist with ascap, bmg or signed to a label, etc. #2 You can't edit their song or use any samples or images. Putting up or playing any recorded music or video is illegal when it is used for entertainment or anything that generates revenue. You must be certified by ascap, have permission by the artist/label or pay royalties, etc... It sucks, but if someone jacks your edit of an original song, video, etc then there is really nothing you can do. It's just proper respect and honesty. And yes, everyone does it including minor/major companies. It's just to hard too police and enforce... Eventually they will... Remember napstar and the heavy metal band that had all kind of legal problems... The best thing to do is contact the company and if possible the person/and/or artist who is in question... Give them the opportunity to take it down... I will say this, many of the people who do the videos are legit, they know what they are doing, but sometimes they are trying to be the first to put the song or video out or make the a "quick" buck as you said... A lot of these guys are talented... As far as sweepers or drops... Sometimes before a track or video starts, but during the song, ANYWHERE is just bedroom dj status... Who wants to play a bangin' track only to hear dj ddipppssshhh through the song... I am glad I get serviced by the labels and remix companies and they make sure that doesn't happen... Getting a "master" track, instrumental & acapella is your best bet. High quality and you don't have to worry about tags, drops, sweepers... Not defending anyone, just saying that is what is happening.

oops... and most of the sites are "bombed" with emails, messages and work... They actually do appreciate you telling them something is wrong... They can't see or find everything.

everyone is guilty... That's why, if you haven't noticed, many clubs, bars get notices/mail or even visits from ascap, bmi, etc saying they must pay a dues or royalty fee... I see it both ways... The artists don't make as much $ anymore when the sales are downloads or pirate sites... Vinyl is almost non-existent, cds, no one really buys... Not saying they are "poor", but the cost of packaging and promoting an artist is extreme. So, even if you pay for the music/videos, some artist/music guild will want their royalties for you playing it... every club, bar, venue, etc... lots of red tape, bs... It just depends when they get around to you and enforce it...

ur right, guess i'll just go back to posting vidz on one of the top remix pools in the country with the rest of the other top vjs in the country right now. and i completely agree with U about Marx getting a life! what a loser he is! all he does is plan the biggest VJ conference that brought over 500 djs to one spot for a week, and when hes not doing that hes being all loser-y running one of the PREMIERE video pools in the world. guys like Marx and I are so beneath the almighty Dj frankkutz!

You were getting more out of them than I was. I used exactly ONE video from them in the last six months I was getting their stuff. Which, even at their old $9.99/month rate, made them effectively my most expensive source for videos. $59.94 paid over six months for one video.

Plus it finally dawned on me that the considerable time I was spending downloading and then later sifting through the rubbish could be much more productively spent doing something else.
