bump this to get the attention of anyone from serato.

You already have it half implemented with Loop roll, all you need to do is let us scratch, cue jump aswell.

and also Traktor 2 dosent have this feature, it would be a diffinate 1 up on the competition if you ask me.
Eskei83 9:25 PM - 10 February, 2011
i forwarded it to the dev team ... hope they like the idea ;)
Henry GQ 12:19 AM - 11 February, 2011
woah. how do u forward soemthing to them?
Eskei83 8:03 AM - 11 February, 2011
with the secret easter egg forum mode ;)

I'm sure they're already know about this topic.

but I think it's not so easy to implement. I made some tests yesterday with loop roll to figure out how it works and it seems that they count the bars internal.

With this slip mode you need to press at least a button twice. for goin into slip mode and back to the position it should be.
AKIEM 8:29 AM - 11 February, 2011
yes - this might not really work to well for vinyl.

since the vinyl constantly spins how would serato tell the difference between the turntable spinning and you touching it?

my +1 was actually because I thought this was another feature suggestion - being able to move the start and end of a loop at the same time by a set measure - 'slipping'
Eskei83 9:24 AM - 11 February, 2011
i think i got it .. with a SL3 you can do slip mode ... i post a video in a few
0boz0 9:33 AM - 11 February, 2011
On the pioneer DDJ S1 coming out for itch, it has a slip mode button. So that looks like itch will be implementing it for that controller, if thats the case Im sure they could add it to scratch live.
Eskei83 11:12 AM - 11 February, 2011
ok, it works with a SL3

what you have to do is enable the 3rd deck, set the 3rd deck to internal mode and enable instant double in the setup menu.

when you drop the track you wanna scratch (with slip mode) in the 3rd deck it runs instantly in the back. now you can scratch your track. when you drag the track you dropped into deck 3 back to deck 2 (via instant double), it jumps on the right position.

so basically it's just instant double jumping from deck do deck ...

if Serato would implement midi support do instant double to a deck, it would be very easy to simulate "slip mode". you just need the midi-buttons to send a track to the 3rd deck and bring it back after scratching.

check the video. i used no crossfader to demonstrate how it works. the 3rd deck output is not connected to my mixer. so it's only needed to let the track run in the back.

unfortunately you have to use the mouse to instant double the files with deck 3 :(

0boz0 12:27 PM - 11 February, 2011
Can you instant double to deck 2 without the mouse?
Eskei83 12:32 PM - 11 February, 2011
but not to deck 3 ... :-(
Eskei83 12:33 PM - 11 February, 2011
you can instant double between deck 1 and 2
Eskei83 12:33 PM - 11 February, 2011
by dragging the track to the deck you can instant double with all 3 decks ...
0boz0 12:35 PM - 11 February, 2011
When you end the scratch on deck 3, if you leave the track running would it double up, how dose it cut off back to deck 2 without a crossfade.
Eskei83 12:39 PM - 11 February, 2011
you instant double the track back into your deck (after scratching from deck 3 to deck 2) ... deck 3 is only in the back runnin without output ...
0boz0 12:46 PM - 11 February, 2011
It is a good idea, but unless you can use a button it will be hard work. Best idea is for serato to implement slip mode like they are doing on the upcoming DDJ S1 for itch, second is for them to implement a midi button to instant double deck 3.
Eskei83 12:50 PM - 11 February, 2011
yes, with the video i just want to give a "start point" to discuss ... i think it's not so hard to implement, because it's already there. only the buttons missing to make it work.
AKIEM 7:35 PM - 11 February, 2011
yup - been doing that quite a bit with instant doubles and my 'one turntable' technique

:)
radikarl 2:00 PM - 13 April, 2011
if you use channels TWO and AUX as regular channels, and keep channel ONE as the spare one, then you can slip mode at least with deck 2.

this would be great if it was super simple.

yea, I have been doing that with the SL-3 and the Sixty-Eight for a while now... easier with the Sixty-Eight because I can assign it to a midi button on the mixer or foot switch if i wanna keep my hands free.
I've done it quite a bit for the past couple of years but nobody (even most DJ's) ever really realized what I was doing. (I expected more DJ's to catch it) I don't think people ever really realize half of what's going on... they just either like it or not.
