Awesome... thanks!
aiRBaLZ 5:48 PM - 8 May, 2007
This set is quite different than the one I saw him play at Aura a few weeks back. Much more "dancy"... where is Banana Split anyways? In the Caribbean?
Bigfourty4 5:50 PM - 8 May, 2007
It is his club
DJ Exec 5:52 PM - 8 May, 2007
Banana split is in LA the best city in the world :)......at his club called LAX!!!!
Audio1 5:53 PM - 8 May, 2007
Supposedly he plays alot of hiphop when he plays at Aura. This set would go down perfect in the room Rob Bishop and the other house cats play at.
Audio1 5:54 PM - 8 May, 2007
By the way, Bomb sets from both DJ AM and Mike B The Killa!!
Audio1 6:09 PM - 8 May, 2007
Mike B's set is sick!
marknonsense1 6:20 PM - 8 May, 2007
How did he do that at 8:02-8:24 or is it the song? Is it an efx-500 or 1000?
AFR33K1000 6:28 PM - 8 May, 2007

That would be it..........

Search this forum for quick loops, AKA -> easter eggs.

Yeah, Aura was a lot of hip hop and a lot of 80s/alternative, with a bit of dance.
Audio1 9:15 PM - 8 May, 2007
by the way, people need to start taking advantage of the looping abilities you have with Serato...

I know how to do it with an efx 1000. So I never try it on serato. I think it's a little hard with serato ( having to hit all the keys)? I have the 57SL but I'm not trying to hit the wrong thing live it's so hard to use as is

This thread is crazy. I haven't checked this one in a while, but it's amazing how everyone is ON IT. Maybe I need to listen to this mix again??

Oh, and some of these tracks can be found on low budget's forum if you look hard (and fast) enough. Most people post tracks on zshare, so sometimes a quick Google will do you good. I say "some" of these tracks, cause there's honestly a lot of this stuff I just don't listen to nor do I play, but some tracks do look familiar in my daily innernet travels.

Steve_Dub 1:34 AM - 1 June, 2007
Quit bitchin Evil One, go ahead post a mix, I bet nobody will bite yours ha ha.

On the other hand, the dude that posted this mix got permission from AM.

Theres NOTHING wrong with wanting to know what a certain song is. MOST if not all the shit on his mix you cant play at a regular club anyway without people looking at you funny because most of this shit is obscure to the general population. Shit were all dj's and cant name every track without each others help.

if shit like this wasnt posted then alot of us wouldnt be up on some other shit....im trying to get a couple of songs that are hard ass rmxs for myself not for sum club, i know alot of us feel the same way too......

anyway....this hipster is funny to me but i endded up kinda liking it.....alot of the tracks he played are big on the other side of the planet (the otehr side being house/electro DJs)...coming from a hip hop DJ
SloDeck 10:24 AM - 1 June, 2007
I bet AM is laughing his ass off at us still breaking down the mix, etc, he gave permission for it to be posted, why, cus he don't care, he knows he will never drop exactly the same set again, he admits it's not his best stuff, why cus he was simply throwing down another set in a club. he can do it in his sleep.

No one stands there in the middle of their club set going I'm gonna be posting this online, so I had better do such and such, or make a track listing or other DJs are gonna critique this etc.

We all get asked what remix we just played all the time. Its no biggy. Everweek some limewire kiddy asked what version of such and such that was.

And I'm gonna throw a bold statement out there. I actually can't think of that many places a set like that by another DJ would work. It works for him cus it's his style, he's known for mixing genres up like that.

DJs appriciate it cus of what it is, it's something not too many others are doing as well as he is doing it. And cus we know it's a litte different/harder than spinning a simple hip hop set, or house set.

People eat your mixes where you are from?

Honestly, you act like he finds a lot of this stuff himself. A ton of is it coming from other dj's, producers, etc. People throw shit at him, and he rocks it if he does.

The mere fact that he does a bunch of really narly shit with different acapellas and instruments is nuts.

Also, if you really want to rock the funky beats, check out this mix by Stretch Armstrong. Good luck on getting a track list for that one

I don't think it sucks. I'm actually glad shit isn't the way it was back in the day where you had to have a copy of a copy of a copy of a cassette to hear something hot from far away (unless you bought it from somewhere far away from "home"). I think it's hot that I can listen to Scottie B's mix from when he was in LA. I hear him when he's home, but it's nice to know what gets done in other parts of the world. I like it being open. It kinda forces you to step your game up. It opens up you and everyone else listening and it gives those producers a broader audience. I mean if I was making wacky songs I thought a small group of people in one club would like on this "special" night and found out people all over the world are asking for my shit, it would blow my mind.

I do track listings to help out other DJs. I don't want someone to have to dig hard like I did to find the names of some of these tracks. Let them learn what we did so they can pick up where we left off and take it a step further. Plus, it helps me to get used to seeing the "text" of a particular song rather than the record label or sleeve. The game has changed, so I have to adjust my mind accordingly.

As for biting, it has been done and it will always be done. It's one of the elements of how we got where we are today. Some people are original. Those that are usually stand out from the crowd. Bite if you want, but what's gonna make YOU different?

Just a thought...
gzentertainment 1:19 PM - 1 June, 2007
The track listing is not for someone to go out and duplicate the mix, it's for someone to get the track and throw it in their own mix, or maybe not even mix at all, just pump the track in ya hondas or your bimmaz or your legend or your benz.

AM definitely has his own style, and the homie is just nuts! But you need to also look at the venue and the crowd. The crowds at Banana Split are there to have a good time and shake their ass! That's the problem with a lot of crowds nowadays, they just want to look cool and just shake to the tracks they know. F that... just shake to whatever and have a good time! If AM had dropped a set like this at Studio B when he played alongside The Rub, Pase Rock, Stretch Armstrong, Them Jeans and Roctakon, everybody would've been going crazy too. The crowd was there to just lose it! That's the way it SHOULD be. And that's the way most of us lose it when we hear this mix.

I was there, and everybody was going crazy. He killed it that night, and proved to everyone that venturing off to brooklyn can be alot better/less strenuous than waiting in line with 5 other cocks in meatpacking...hoping that you don't have to buy a bottle to get in.

every DJ is influenced by other DJs...that's just life. but i personally get really annoyed when other DJs say "hey dude, i liked your set, can you send me your playlist..." and i'm like "yes, i'd love to pay 10 years of dues for you with a click of the mouse."

I dunno about you, but i definately bump this shit in my beemer. Fuck, when i sold GZ my turntables, I bumped Stretch Armstong's set all the way to his house.

The only biting i will ever do is when i am in the bedroom. And that is because i want to see if my scratch skills are as good as someone else's.

Other than that, I play whatever comes to mind and tend to stay away from "biting" , or as I like to call....COPYING. Its gay and Nut Ugly.

But, she was some wigged out raver chick, it was pretty dope thou.

big ups for dropping Digitalism.. such a great track. I love how AM can drop whatever he feels like.. and people will dance, because he's DJ AM. They assume it's cool, even when they don't know the words. I wish I had that luxury... lol..
jrcook 8:05 PM - 2 November, 2007
What version is the first song "Rocker" which is blended with the dirty south Depeche Mode? I have heard that remix quite a few times.

I agree 100%. He gets away with shit we can't. I have heard him drop NKOB "hanging tough" more than once and everyone was going crazy... If I played that everyone would leave...
DJ-A 8:34 PM - 2 November, 2007

mike d 9:16 PM - 29 November, 2007
I know this discussion is old school already and I hate to ask a question but..
I was listing to this one day in the car and I cant understand how fast AM must be scratching @5:34 or what kind of scratch that even is (We are your friends) ? My TTM56 settings are probably off somewhere and the DJ using it probably just cant scratch !

I had to take a shot at myself before anyone else!

what that seem to be brittney tracks. hahahahahaha

and i make love to the loop button people. make mini loops in front of a track let it loop when you mix it.BAM hit that loop off and you got yourself a home mad on the fly 8 bar,16 bar,4bar intro.
