DJ Trice 1:37 PM - 28 September, 2010
Please, for the most wanted player with Scratchlive !
+1
DJ Trice 1:44 PM - 28 September, 2010
Price of 2 CDJ 2000: 3400 €
Price of 2 CDJ 900: 2400 €

Price of 2 CDJ 850: 1720 € ! A difference about 680 € (for features that we don't need on CDJ 900 to use with Scratchlive !)

So please...

Who's down with me ?
DJ Kepat 5:53 PM - 28 September, 2010
I agree with you, for the next version they should make the CDJ 850 compatible to the serato

Okay guys,

I started a post at the pioneer forums, maybe some of u could post there too, just to create some attention. forums.pioneerdj.com
DJ Trice 12:20 PM - 4 October, 2010
Good idea but on the Pio Forum, the subject should be something like this: CDJ 850 & 350: Native support in Serato Scratchlive :-)
abstractls 10:11 PM - 4 October, 2010
Add support for 850s please, much needed
Konix 10:14 PM - 4 October, 2010
It's not really up to Pioneer for the most part, it's up to Serato. Pioneer has already done their part by building HID into the player, it's up to the software companies to implement the functionality.

Yes Konix, that's why this post was created
Paco71 9:03 AM - 5 October, 2010
Yes that's, but we would like an answer from the Team to know if it's ine the boxes or not...

Guys ?
Lucky Luciano 10:04 AM - 5 October, 2010
Matt told me the following through pm: "We would have to both make it happen (they will do the hardware/firmware, we will do the code).
But Pioneer need to come to us with the request, we can help give them a heads up about it, but at the end of the day if users want this then this needs to come from Pioneer, so pushing them is the key here :D"

So we have to push Pioneer.
DJ Trice 10:22 AM - 5 October, 2010
So let's Go on them !!!
Paco71 11:48 AM - 5 October, 2010
I just post a message in licky thread on the pioneer forum ;)

Let's go and put some pressure on them !!!

Kaotek 3:13 PM - 16 October, 2010
+1 Serato please add this feature to the cdj 850s. You are risking losing marketshare if its not added soon. As more of these players are sold more people are going to want it NOW, so why not be ahead of the game?

DJ Trice 8:54 AM - 26 October, 2010
It seems that CDJ 850 is already supported in VDJ 7, like the DNS 3700 :-/
So....?
Paco71 9:56 AM - 26 October, 2010
It doesn't seems, the CDJ 850 is supported in VDJ 7, lol, but it seems that it's on the track...

I've been told that Pioneer And Searto are working on the support.

Read this thread on Pioneer DJ Forum.:

forums.pioneerdj.com
DJ Trice 10:35 AM - 26 October, 2010
In fact, but it will be cool if the team could confirm that they're working on it. It will be the starting point for us to buy these players. We all know here that Serato do what they say :-)
Paco71 1:08 PM - 26 October, 2010
I think that the better way to have a direct aswer is send an MP to any of this forum moderator ;-)

I don't see a lot of answer or comment from them in the Feature suggestions Area ;-)
DJ Trice 2:13 PM - 26 October, 2010
lol wait & see... and buy those 850 lol
DJ Dio 9:26 PM - 3 November, 2010
Can't wait to see HID support in scratch live for CDJ 850!!!!!
Dj Intel Army 10:30 PM - 11 November, 2010

Come on Serato! CDJ850 is all what we need in Scratchlive! So many people are waiting for that native support! Is it so hard to support 850's? They are almost the same as 900s.
Lucky Luciano 11:28 PM - 26 November, 2010
Hey folks,

I am a very disappointed from Serato. I had contact with Matt-C from Serato through pm. He told me, that we need to push Pioneer so that they are making an official request to Serato. But at the Pioneer forum they told us, that the request had allready been done. Matt is not replying anymore confrontated with that. I think this will never work...
Paco71 11:35 AM - 27 November, 2010
look the post I did on the Pioneer Forum, it seems that they we are in the same situation, here what I said :

"Hi guys,
I'm one of the many, many, many potential buyers of the CDJ 850 (I know others),and I think it's the perfect Player to play with SERATO.

If those babies have native support in SERATO, i think i go for it within a day, lol.

Seriously you say that it's belong to SSL Team, and they say that they have to work along with Pioneer team...
We feel like a tennis ball between Nadal and Federer, lol. We don't know who says the truth...
Please make it happen !

Cheers..."

Based on what lucky said, the game is continuing, lol
Dj George Dee 3:30 PM - 27 November, 2010
I think im gonna change to Virtual DJ... Seems to work well and is much cheaper. Serato doesn't seem to be costumer friendly and innovation leader anymore.
Paco71 4:52 PM - 27 November, 2010
Think very well, perhaps SERATO is not the leader in "innovation" (but what does we call innovation), but it still the leader in stability and features well done.

So don't go to fast, VDJ works well but i Would have some doubt in a gig...
DJ Dio 7:24 PM - 27 November, 2010
Serato should definitely get on this ASAP, bought my 850s and can't wait to see the support. Many users are looking for this feature because the 850s are amazing players for the price and would work super well with Serato if we just see the support in!
Dj George Dee 7:41 PM - 27 November, 2010
Stability is no big Issue if you keep your system clean. USER EXPERIENCE is the issue. That's what e.g. Apple makes the tunover with. And user experience für DJing also comes with the right hardware. So here we are again on the 850s
R.A.F.T.S. 2:24 AM - 28 November, 2010
Maybe it's some kind of secret commercial agreement between Serato & Pioneer, to promote and support only more expensive models like 900s and 2000? 850s are almost the same as 900s except Slip mode (useless in Serato), Link (useless in serato), digital out (useless in serato), tilted and bigger screen (useless - all the information is on the laptop screen) and 3rd loop bank (not necessary)
I had contact one od the guys from Serato through pm. He told me, that If it gets in enough peoples hands and they continually hear that request, it would be more likely to happen... People are beging all the time for that support and still no answer from Serato..
Paco71 11:49 AM - 28 November, 2010
Quote:

If a software has no stability, I would like to see were is the USER EXPERIENCE, lol.

If your software often craches or even twice more than its counterpart, i don't see the USER EXPERIENCE...

In conclusion USER EXPERIENCE directly belong to stability.
I agree with you it comes also with the right hardware but, even if i want them to support the CDJ850, it's not a big issue as the stability, since you (not you but someone in general) can have a work around: Buy the supported hardware.
Dj George Dee 6:34 PM - 28 November, 2010
Stability IS NO BIG ISSUE meaning: I know many professional Djs using VDJ for years playing in huge clubs and events. If the programm would crash regulary, they wouldn't use it and i would neither.

So if the programms run reliable we come back to the user experience topic. And the 850 is the ideal machine for giving me even more pleasure playing with my Dj-setup and rockin' the crowd.

So : Who of the two parties blocks the development of an interface für the 850s: Rane or Pioneer?

Obviously Serato, Pioneer made the request long time ago. That´s what has been told at the Pioneer forums.

redicolous
R.A.F.T.S. 12:47 PM - 30 November, 2010
And they don't even think about working on 850's! :/ One of Serato support team wrote yesterday:
Quote:

(...) Sorry there are still no plans or any timeframe for native CDJ 850 support in Scratch Live. If this is done in future, it should be announced officially through the website and newsletter :)

What's wrong with them?! I'm really starting to think about moving to Traktor...
LJ_WOOLSEY 7:29 PM - 30 November, 2010
its easy the Pioneer CDJ 900 / 2000 Took Serato 1 year to suppurt them. and it that time when it came to be supported how many firmware updates were there for the cdjs? and then Pioneer made a hid mode for you to use them in serato...... and WHY because serato want it to be bug free, tight and be as close to using the cdj as with normal cds.

So i'm sure Pioneer and Serato will work together on this but i wouldnt expect it soon. Traktor just jump on everything like vdj and things are always buggy, then serato does it and every1 says how much better itis. Hence how serato has its name... being stable and solid.

BUT YES YES YES we need all the suport of loads of users to put the presure on serato and rane to make this happen. So everyone keep +1

i also agree the cdj 850 and cdj350 will be awsome with serato.

cheers.
borgbasta 9:32 PM - 30 November, 2010
+1 for HID support for CDJ-350 too!
Matt Smith 11:17 PM - 8 December, 2010
Bump! i reaally need this feature
Lucky Luciano 11:40 AM - 11 December, 2010
me 2. But since Matt-C(Serato) ist not answering anymore, I don´t think there will be something like this.
ThePreacher 11:45 PM - 11 December, 2010
+1 Bump!

With what I've herd from pioneer, I do not know why there is any progress on this! Why would Serato not put this into action!??! Shouldn't they WANT to get more people buying SSL? Unless there is some behind the seen dealings going on to push people to buy higher end pioneer gear... I mean, does it really matter, to serato, what equipment their users are using? With the amount of people wanting 850's and waiting for serato support to come out, it should be a no brainer!

-again +1 for 850 native HID support!
DJ Trice 8:54 AM - 13 December, 2010

Paco71 3:34 PM - 13 December, 2010
+1 Again and again !!
R.A.F.T.S. 4:39 PM - 13 December, 2010
+1209238241231231 Again, and again, and again... but who cares? :) I'm shure serato doesn't ;) If they don't have time to map/they don't want to map/they don't know how to map 850's (or other midi controllers) they could just unlock jog Midi mapping
DJ Trice 11:00 AM - 14 December, 2010
Serato already know how to do it ! It's like CDJ's 2000 & 900. Pioneer just have to release the new firmware.
Phillip Hill 8:50 AM - 15 December, 2010
Come on you guys - why have we not had an official post from the Serato moderators!?....

We are your customers - could you at least have the decency to address us all by replying to this thread so at least we know where we stand??

Surely It's only common courtesy to answer a question asked on this forum - thats what it was set up for right!?....

Do the right thing Serato - tell us whats going on and give us some kind of timeframe to work with.

Thank you

Phil

... and another post, written by one of the mods in another topic:

"Out of all the Native controllers listed above I would suggest going with the HC4500, the CDJ 400s, or the 900/2000s. All are great options.
I cannot say for certain that the 850s will ever have native support.
At this point I would not spend your money on them."

djdanny67 10:11 AM - 9 January, 2011
I want to buy new cd-players/controllers for serato. Now I use the Denon HC4500 and works fine, except for the fx. I'm looking for the CDJ850, CDJ350 or Denon DNS3700...
ALL NOT SUPPORTED. it seems the only supported one's are the expensive one's such as 900 & 2000. Is this were serato is going to???
Paco71 2:13 PM - 9 January, 2011
Your best chances are CDJ 350 or CDJ 850.
There are good chances that these babies will be supported in SSL.

That won't never happened for the DNS3700 as this has been stated by Serato And denon.
djdanny67 9:10 AM - 10 January, 2011
Then I'll go for the 850's - Please support them!!!

HI
I thought SERATO was the worldwide leader of djing, I was wrong.
Not even able to bring out a decent update to have compatibility with CDJ 850 or 350, even trackTor and VDJ did it !!!

Shame on you; I really start to regret on choosing your brand, which is, may I remind you, nearly 20% more expensive than other competitors, we all thought to have a better customer service but, nothing, total silence.
Lot of users starts to question whether or not they should move to the competition and I understand them !

Please provide a decent reply, otherwise I won't buy the SL 4 and I will be a good advisor for my DJ friends on buying from the competitors.

PS : for those who think to have a secret business deal with PIONEER to not to release the cdj 850 driver, to be able to sell more cdj 900 or2000 I say bad thinking, I own a cdj 2000 and I really don't need serato.

+1 on the CDJ 850 HID Support, there's something funky going on here. In my opinion, the 850 is the most affordable. I'd think more dj's would go with the 850's. Why provide HID support for everything else but the 850's? Anyway, like Matt-C said in another post, it takes a lot of time & resources to develop, but please hear our cry's. You have more than enough requests for this.
Kaotek 1:25 PM - 3 February, 2011
5 months now with a ton of requests for this feature. any news at all??? I like many long time serato users are becoming frustrated by the endless wait with no real updates. I got the cdjs expecting them to work with serato since it says right on the pioneer site it works as an hid interface with popular dj software. This complete lack of response is making me rethink my setup though. If it doesnt get resolved or we dont get at least updated soon i along with many others will be looking to move to a different setup. I've been a long time serato pioneer supporter, but the waiting game is getting old
DJ Trice 4:18 PM - 3 February, 2011

Just ordered my SSL3, a pair ST-150s, DJM 700, Uberstand and the HDJ 1000. Yet to receive it though and i was already contemplating adding the 850s to the order but with the non-support by Serato i think i will have to pause on that move for now.

I DJ for the love and there aint no way in hell i will be buying the 900/2000 just because of HID support KMT. What will be use of 850 working just like vinyl?

I think they are conniving just to make sure the 900/2000 get enough sales....wish this was like android stuff when people will just mod the stuff and allow support albeit unofficially but who cares.

+1 (to the Power of a billion) for HID support for CDJ 850

OK Serato, just attended the mobile beat for Djs in Feb. in Las Vegas, and the factory rep told me that a 850 native control was coming out in the near future. So I bought two decks only to see these posts wondering if I made a big mistake by buying your product. So was the Rep telling the truth or just pushing the sales ????

Lucky Luciano 5:16 PM - 20 February, 2011
thx for nothing Serato!
Dj Mikey d 5:27 PM - 20 February, 2011
seriously it pisses me the fuck off. i don't have a cdj 850 but i do have 2 cdj 350s and its kinda same thing. Were in the same boat. If we would get the native support, it would probably be at the same time like they did for the cdj 2000 and 900. But it's such a piss off that you pay so much money for this gear and you can't even get something that the cd player supports . Why is that?

Because apparently serato is working on other stuff before they get to that.
Wow, bunch of fuckers. As if we dont pay enough money for this shit.
djnico 8:59 AM - 21 February, 2011
+1 for HDI support for cdj 850. A lot of venues are buying the more affordable cdj 850 than the 900.
DJ Dio 4:28 AM - 27 February, 2011
+1 HID support for CDJ-850s! Have an SL1 and it's not doing the job anymore especially with the SL4 coming out! Would like to see HID support (which is one reason why I got the 850s) getting to be a lot of money to buy a whole new I/O!!!
Lucky Luciano 2:54 PM - 28 February, 2011
this really pisses me of big time. the 850 will never get support through serato. kinda lame.

So many people asking for updates to hid, why has no official position on serato? sell the product and do not worry about the people who use their product. Cdj 850 works fine with VDJ. This company can take care of the buyer of the product. Funny is that more than half a year passes and nothing is known whether the native support for 850 will be. People produce in forums, and I myself ask the question why?

How could the 800 Mk2s support Serato and these don't?? Who the hell wants to use VDJ? Gross...lol. WHAT? What does this mean? the Pioneer CDJ 800MKII ''DOES NOT'' have HID.

If you are on about timcode discs then the Pioneer CDJ 850 works totaly fine with timecode discs and Scratchlive.

... ok, but it still doesn't change the fact that we don't have any answer or any info from Serato about supporting the 850's. I guess that they even doesn't give a f**k about this thread.
I was planning to replace my SL1 by brand new SL4, but in that case and that kind of treatment, i rather go to NI and buy Audio 10
Killbill 12:00 AM - 28 March, 2011
Honestly, I think this is just Pioneer thinking of CDJ850 users as insignificant & ignoring our request in order to feed their own best interest which in this case is to get more money. They know if the CDJ850's get HID support, then that means less sales for the 900's or 2000's.

I find it very hard to believe the framework behind the CJD850's is very different compared to the 900's or 2000's.

If ScratchLive is to support the CDJ850's I don't see how it could have a negative impact on them. Just my opinion. I think the FUCK YOU should go to Pioneer.

tobe honist there still busy fixing bugs with the HID on the cdj 900/2000 and the intel 'i' problem with the sl-1 and ttm57, also the issue with new drivers for the 2011 macs. all the outstanding bugs in the scratchlive software and also working on very long requested features that all scratchlive users can use. So i guess they got all that todo before they even think about supporting these things. i'm sure they will get there in the end.

Ive been using serato for about a year now and I LOVE it i did my first gig last month using it and it didnt crash or fail and its nice to be able to dj off my laptop without having to burn loads of cds that ime only going to use in one night.
Having serato also opens up alot of new doors when it comes to midi mapping and i realised you dont really need top of the line cd players if you have serato because in theory you could midi map specific buttons and knobs to do the things you want.
its taken me AGES to save for my cdj850's and my djm 700s and all i wanna do is get things mapped so i dont have to keep touching my mac all the time.
For instance when i try and use the cue button on my cdj to cue up a sample it just plays through and this bugs the fuck out of me!!!
The problem i have now is that serato takes away some of the features of the cdj850 and the only way i can use them again is to not use serato, put my tunes on to usb or cd and start using rekordbox software WHICH I DO NOT WANT TO DO,or whats the point in using serato in the first place eh?!! now if ime having this problem then there must be THOUSANDS of others who are aswell!?
SO.... do i ride it out and wait forever for the midi support or do i sell my serato and embrace the new way of mixing off of usb stiks and rekordbox? i didnt want to sell out to pioneer coz they make the best players but the software is still very new and unstable and a friend of mine had an epic fail using rekordbox in a club, i do feel (along with many others) a bit let down by serato who usually are at the fore front of fixing bugs and sorting issues that thair users my have.
All i can say is this..... WHEN SOMETHING GETS IN THE WAY OF CREATIVITY WE EVENTUALLY FIND A WAY TO GET ROUND IT AND MOVE FORWARD AND IF THAT MEANS SCRAPPING SERATO FOR MORE USER FRIENDLY SOFTWARE OR TECHNOLOGY THEN SO BE IT
DjTommyC 3:44 AM - 5 April, 2011
+3 for HID support with the 850s...
This surely can't be that hard for Serato to sort out. They've already done the programming for the 900s 2000s 400s etc.. To write a simple update for the 850s and 350s can't be a six month project. Is there any news on when the next update is coming out? If it's not in that ill HAVE to rethink my set up!

Yeah sure, if you want to fly to New Zealand!? Personally, i'd rather boycott them by not upgrading the hardware and just use an alternative. I have 850's and you cant link them to recordbox unless you use usb sticks. So i thought id get serato assuming that i would be able to link them natively considering my friend had the 400s linked this way..

SERATO...

THIS IS NOT THAT HARD TO SORT OUT!

What looping problem?
DJProTone 5:47 PM - 27 April, 2011
The AutoLoops aren't exactly accurate, which if you're mixing two songs together and one of them or both are looping on the auto loop but are completely beat matched otherwise means they will fall out of sync with each other

Watchwww.youtube.com

This video shows the problem (made by somebody else). However the problem isn't as sever but its still not been completely fixed. Try it for yourself if you have 850's with two songs or the same song. I love them otherwise though best buy for me!!!!!

Do you use the new firmware ?

Because according to the change log, it fixes the auto beat loop :

"*Auto Beat Loop is improved as accurate as CDJ-800mk2."
DJProTone 8:00 PM - 27 April, 2011
"auto beat loop is IMPROVED" and like it says its just as good as the 800mk2, which I believe is different to the 900 and 2000's auto beat loop programme (hoping they've made it better since bringing out 800mk2) ha!

To be honest either way this could be fixed by making serato compatible!!!! C'MON SERATO!!!

Hello All from France,

I've just bought two CDJ 850, one month ago thinking that Serato and SSL support the CDJ 850.
I'm very desapointed to learn and to read, that SSL still not support the 850's.

I can't wait for this situation and i hope Serato work very hard on it.
In fact i think that CDJ 900 is supported. So this player is quite similar as the 850 so do it plesase :)

Bests Regards.

I've had my CDJ 850s for 4 months now. And I got to say... I give up

Ever since I got them I had been looking hard for native software support
What's the bloody point of having a HID and MIDI controller if I cant run them with Serato, Traktor, or any thing. the only thing that works is VDJ which sucks balls, and gives off a horrible jog wheel lag
And even worst, that software that comes with the 850 doesnt stream songs from your computer directly to the CDJ! What's the bloody point

Just don't bother with these, waste of money.
Lucky Luciano 9:09 PM - 13 May, 2011

I just recieved my pair of CDJ-850's today and i'm and old time NI user. Here's my case... I could either upgrade my software and send NI more of my hard earned cash, or i could go with SSL if they can actually offer me the support that I need. Who wants my cash more is the question. Aparently, I'm not the only individual you can assume would become a future Rane cusotmer, that's of course if you finally bring us what we need.

I ask you to take my situation as a prime example as to why the justification for this support is needed.

Not having any support or comments about a release with a definitive answer from Rane themselves is just plain lame. Why can't they see that there is a market for this? We need support. It'd be nice to bypass the MTC discs... Personally, i see myself upgrading my Traktor withing the next 2 months or so and just saying the hell with it.

Hey Guys,

We are currently working on the next version of Scratch Live, and have been looking at support for the CDJ-350 and 850 as part of the feature set. So far we are feeling very confident about our ability to include 350 support, but we have hit a few minor problems with the 850's firmware. We are hoping we can work with Pioneer to address these problems before the next release and include 850 support as well.

Hey bricejevinn,

The CDJ 900 and 2000 still require the Rane hardware connected to use Scratch Live. They are supported as native controllers, which means that you don't have to use the control CD. When the CDJ 850s are supported, you will also still need Rane hardware.

I hope this clears it up for you :)

Thank you for finally giving us somewhat of an answer. The fact of the matter is, I have a pair of CDJ-850's with still no support. Your answer to this thread is coated with much doubt and improbability. You make it seem doubtful that my hardware will be supported in the near future.

It seems like NI has finally stepped up to the plate and given me the information that I/WE needed. Straight from Pioneer:

Pioneer CDJ-850 MIDI mapping file for TRAKTOR PRO/PRO 2

Pioneer will prepare a CDJ-850 MIDI Mapping file for TRAKTOR PRO/PRO 2, available to download from our web-site on June 22nd.
This file will allow Pioneer CDJ-850 users to setup TRAKTOR PRO/PRO 2 to be controlled by CDJ-850.

We thank you once again for being a valued customer of Pioneer DJ.

I believe they are concerned with both, but they hit a snag with the current CDJ-850 firmware code. I've used control CDs and HID mode (on supported CDJ models) and we all know there's a little lag time on the control CDs. However, its not a deal breaker for me where I'm going to switch over to another DVS just because they MAY be supporting it sooner. We're a little less than 3 weeks away from July, where 2.3 should be available, or hopefully in public beta. The wait is almost over... :)

Your ASSUMING it will be in this early beta. There is no definitive answer to prove that. Traktor on the other hand HAS given a definitive answer. The facts through public information speak for themselves.

I don't know if you have tried your 850's with Virtual Dj but only having to connect your decks with a usb and running audio output through them into my mixer eliminates 1 more thing i have to carry around. If you haven't tried that out yet, do so, just to witness for yourself what these decks are capable of and why it is a big deal.

PS: I'm not pro Traktor, I'm pro-whoever gives me what i need.

Are you talking about eliminating having to carry control CDs or the Rane interface box?

Yeah, in VDJ, being that the CDJ-850 has its own built-in soundcard, thus enabling you to just connect the CDJ to your laptop via USB and its RCA to your mixer.

To utilize Scratch Live, you still need some sort of Rane hardware be it an SL1/2/3/4, 57SL, Sixty-Eight, etc. Yeah, it defeats the purpose of having the built-in soundcard of the CDJ-850.
bricejevinn 8:29 PM - 14 June, 2011
heres a quick question..i just saw a video from rane that showed scratch live being used with cdj 400s as a midi control like the 900s do with sl3.....can the 850s be used with regular scratch live too then since it has midi?

I know for a fact the CDJ-400s can be MIDI mapped (instead of using HID). Upon research, I read early users who tried MIDI mapping for the CDJ-900/2000 (before HID came out) experienced trouble due to a firmware issue on Pioneer's part. Thus people had to wait for HID compatibility for those players.

I'll need to try it out myself to see if the CDJ-850 allows its buttons to be MIDI mapped.

FYI, I have " half-ass'd " mapped my CDJ-850's with Traktor Using them to control my decks in external mode using only the audio interface from the CDJ's themselves. Meaning no Audio 8 box connected. SSL can't do the same is what your telling me? Bah, not interested in this forum anymore then.

Correct.

Reason for that is, because Scratch Live is free, to unlock the features, you need their Rane hardware interface connected. It's kind of the opposite of obtaining a software key to unlock features.

I remember Pioneer's selling point for their CDJ-2000/900 (back when those first came out) was that you didn't have to bring along an audio interface card. True with all other programs except Serato Scratch Live.

Well I think Michael R has explained himself really quire clearly - They do not release any dates to the public as if the date were to be missed then there would be widespread disappointment. This way the software builders do not have to work to a deadline and therefore not get rushed into releasing something that was not ready to be released. Would you rather have something stable and amazing or something rushed to meet a deadline like most Microsoft software?

I would love to see the other HID players getting support for native control and if you have it due for release in the 2.3 version then well done. It took over a year for the software (and firmware) to get even the first release of the CDJ2000/900 HID support and they are still perfecting it today.

I would like to see a couple more bugfixes and extra features sorted with 2.3 to do with the CDJ2000 HID support and hopefully 2.3 will make it pretty much perfect. Keep up the good work guys, group hug! :)

Before CDJs had USB ports such as (800s/1000s/200s), we used timecode CDs. Nothing has changed since. Not having HID doesn't mean your CDJs rendered useless when using DVS.

LJ_WOOLSEY 4:08 PM - 18 July, 2011
you NEED tobe in INT mode for HID. Thats your problem right there :-)
Dj Mikey d 4:19 PM - 18 July, 2011

LJ_WOOLSEY 4:22 PM - 18 July, 2011

no worries, if you get any issues tho with anything todo with 2.3 try post in that area as thats the only place the dev team will be looking. Glad you got there in the end :-)

ok thank you :)

I had to give the 2.3 a try with my CDJ-850's and as I suspected it didn't work because SSL 2.3 beta is supporting CDJ-350's. I'll wait for the official support for the CDJ-850.

BTW! Remember to update your CDJ-850 firmware.

With CDJ-850 1.06 firmware the platter screen is "moving" and the top screen is showing something right. :)

Take it easy! :)

Yeah.. 2.3beta didn't work good enough for me so I'll wait for the official support for the CDJ-850.

And updating your CDJ-850 firmware for the latest version is always a good thing.
LJ_WOOLSEY 4:58 PM - 18 July, 2011
so you did not think oh lets post in the 2.3 beta are so the devs are aware of the bug iv just found so they can fix it?? no?
kaa51 5:24 PM - 18 July, 2011
No I didn't think to post anything there.

Because in the 2.3 beta release note says that CDJ-350 is supported. SSL 2.3 beta have nothing to do with the CDJ-850's.

Let the Serato dev team work now on _real promblems and bugs_ with 2.3 beta.

( And I'm very sure the Serato dev guys are so super professional that they have tried this CDJ-850 firmware (1.06) and of course earlier firmwares. )

End of discussion - thank you! :)
LJ_WOOLSEY 5:44 PM - 18 July, 2011
lol the CDJ-850 missing off is a typo serato have already said this and people are using the cdj-850 with this beta. let the dev team do work they not been told about! ya that sounds about right then when 2.3 goes final you will bitch it dont work correct.

So CDJ-850 works flawlessly for me. I'm using the most recent firmware, v1.06. Able to switch to regular CDs and back to HID control without a hitch!
Wireland 9:37 PM - 18 July, 2011
@Kepik is the display of your cdjs bugging or do they have some declerations? when i use just 1 cdj the display works perferct. but when i connect the 2nd deck, i have bugging all the time :/ (display on the platter, timeinformation, cuebutton, playbutton,.....) when i push a button, serato is working with this command directly. but the display informations at the decks have a big decleration between 1 to 3 seconds

i installed the v1.06 too

So there may be a display issue when two are connected.

How long do you think 2.3 with be a beta release for until they announce it as an official release. and also, i am planning to upgrade to mac os x lion. They say that it has problems with lion. Are they going to fix it quickly?
LJ_WOOLSEY 11:57 PM - 18 July, 2011
August the 1st 2.3 will be released aslong as no majour bugs arrise. no lion is not supported in 2.3
Dj Mikey d 12:02 AM - 19 July, 2011
If i upgrade to lion, would it work with 2.2?

We have been testing Scratch Live with the beta versions of Mac OS X Lion and have encountered some issues (see below). As such, we will not be supporting Mac OS X Lion at the time of it's release. The latest supported version of Mac OS X is 10.6.8.

We are working on these issues and will introduce Mac OS X Lion support in a future release of Scratch Live.

If you choose to update to Mac OS X Lion and do run into issues other than the ones listed below, please start a new help request here -> serato.com (click link).

Known Issues:
* Rane hardware core audio drivers do not install.
* Hanging/GUI not updating after computer goes to sleep.
* Possible crashing when using the Relocate Lost Files function.

There are still problems
Dj Mikey d 12:08 AM - 19 July, 2011
ya so i guess it's just better that i wait to upgrade to lion until serato or rane give the official ok. But on their part they should really make it quick because it's pretty anal.
Kepik 12:10 AM - 19 July, 2011
I upgraded to Lion and have used 2.2.2

here are the bugs I've encountered:

1. Core Audio drivers doesn't detect my interfaces, Sixty-Eight & SL4. Although I had the core audio drivers installed before I upgraded to Lion, it doesn't seem to connect anymore via the control panel.

2. SL actually crashed on me in the middle of a gig due to editing a video tag

3. Periodically screen freezes (beach ball) for 3-4 secs, but doesn't affect audio.

Ya, That's seriously not cool, its almost as bad as using a public beta release at a gig. Do not want to try that. Im just gonna stick to 10.6.8 until they say something.

Why don't you buy it first and get used to the 850 functions? So that you can prepare for it when it does come out this month?

Sorry haven't been on, but yea i Had 850's about a year ago and sold them because of this problem. But now i regret it gonna have to buy them again. Where can I get the 2.3 Beta version?

Hi SL4eva,

Quote:

I'm afraid you can't override the settings for any native controllers, so you're not able to assign these buttons to other functions.

If you're having problems with the CDJ 350 or 850 as a native controller, please start a new thread in the 2.3 beta area.

@paco71 - agreed this would be great idea (especially as you can do this with the CDj400 i think) looks unlikely to happen though :(

dicers would to the job though + will also work with older CDj's so if the spot you are playing at has CDJ1000s you still get cue buttons/loop rolls (or any midi functions that can be mapped using Dicetools) right on the CDJ without having to bring your 850's to the club.

Im not sure if this is the right section, however, ill still post it anyway.
Feel free to link me to the correct place for this posting.

I downloaded the beta yesterday and im using the 850s, sl2, and Windows 7 64 bit. Ive been using serato on this laptop for around 6 months with no problems. However with the beta, whenever i use my touchpad or mouse to drag and drop a song, serato crashes.

however, when i use the scroll knob on the cdj850, i can load tracks fine.

Also i was wondering if anyone here can i help me with my serato library. I organized some crates via my external hardrive. When i drag the files over to create a crate everything is fine. I create subcrates upon subcrates of music under certain categories. Now, when i go to gigs and i have to re-insert my external hardrive, my crates that i create are there, HOWEVER, all my subcrates are doubles and they become "main" crates.

For instance, say i have

House--------(Subcrate) House 2011
---------(Subcrate) House 2009-----------(Subcrate)Remixes
-----------(Subcrate)str8 hits

When i re-insert my External Hardrive, this is how it looks,

House--------------------------------(Subcrate) House 2011
-----------------------------------(Subcrate) House 2009-----------(Subcrate)Remixes
-----------(Subcrate)str8 hits

House 2011
House 2009
str8 hits
Remixes

Thanks for the help guys.

Se-freakin-rato!!! Thank you for supporting my beloved CDJ-850's. Now quick question, I noticed that my LED vinyl marker within in the platter stutters, and the time indicator in the info panel up top does not match the time indicator on the screen. Could this be a USB hub latency issue? Or platters? What it do what it do!!

Thanks guys for all the hard work.

If you're having issues with the CDJ-850, can you please post them in the 2.3 beta area. I see other users have reported this issue here -> serato.com, so you may wish to post in that thread.

Thanks.

Just purchased new cdj850 running them in int mode, however after awhile scratch liv e application stopped working the message comes up on the screen. then i start up agin and the both run for a while. when i go from deck to deck into it for 20 mimutes then the same message come up. whats funny though if i run one cdj form the usb port and the othe in rel mode with time code cd this doesnt happen. I have a viao pc and it has 3 usb ports. Thinking it was the cable i change it and it still happens. Do you think may be the ports are over loaded and what can i do to resolve.

Matt Allcock 1:34 AM - 7 December, 2011
Hi Norman, sounds like you could do with a hand...

First up, "Bump" is a term used on forums to bump the topic to the top of the list. Any user can do this by posting something in the topic. It gets more attention that way. I think mobius909 was trying to track the discussion and bump it to the top of the pile.

Now, sounds like you have resolved your issue in your separate thread? Hope everything works out well for you from now on. Just be aware that nobody on here can physically see exactly what you have and what you're doing, so you have to be clear and explain as much as you can to give the helpers an insight into your problem.

Hope that helps :)
NORMAN ALDER 2:03 PM - 7 December, 2011
Thanks, i will attempt to do so in the near future.
