Hi Guys
just sharing an opinion here. I love Serato but this is the first time I have seen them rush a release before the beta testing was over. Although I have used it even with "officially" unsupported macOS26 Tahoe, I still feel that it still needs work. I feel like it's falling apart for some Djs.
So my question is why? the best forum is still up... why release something thats not 100% functional?

What bugs/crashes did you log during the Public Beta?

I don't really see an issue, especially when you can run them side by side if you don't like what 4.0 is at right now.
Heck, just wait for 4.0.1 or 4.1 - people should do that with Tahoe as well.

With your point I agree...
But still rushed... just my humble opinion... :)

I mean the beta has been going for months.
And no, I haven't had issues using 4.0 since the earlier public betas. Yeah, there have been a ton of UI fixes and what not, but that's expected. And my workflow is evolving around it.
Best part of upgrading is you don't have to ;)

Every release has its bugs.. that I can understand.. But the amount of bugs on this release surpass most of Serato's previous releases!!!
Maybe we just need to wait a bit longer for an update..

Yeah but this NOT BETA... is a full release!!
I guess we need to be a bit more patient... for those who have issues...

unfortunately This has not been a good release for Serato, from reading these threads, features are missing, removed without stating that it will be removed,
it seems like there wasn't enough beta testers,
was it because the beta wasn't available to the majority of the public, the thread was hidden and if you didnt know how to get the download link then you missed out,
but now 4.0 has been released and all public has access to it, we start seeing bugs, missing features etc.
Serato needs to get the public Beta out to more DJs so we don't have this issue. start by making the Public Beta thread accessible to everyone.
I'll say it again Serato needs to start from scratch revamp the whole software, debloat it, the download file is 1.5gb
Serato can not impliment new features like A.i unless they do this.
while your at it, Serato website and forums needs to be updates, its 2025 and we cant edit our comments or allow proper imojes, allow likes,
it needs to be revamped from the ground up,
apologies just my 2cents:)

It has been a fairly poor release, but my view is im not going to say too much about it because i did absolutely nothing by way of testing the public Beta, and i think others in the same boat should consider that too.
Its easy to shout and ball from the sidelines after the fact, like many have done in the past 2 weeks, but not as easy to download the Beta and help test it or provide feedback on features, the same thing happens on other brands forums, the biggest complainants are always those who appear post release to moan about something not being done etc, but never want to actually join the Beta team to help out.
Take this 'browse' tab as a prime example, can people honestly say (if they truly ask themselves) that they would have even noticed it if Mojaxx hadn't brought it up in his video? I feel that we now live in a world where people have stopped using their own minds and simply just parrot the words of various influencers, largely in the Youtube space. Mojaxx himself has a fair complaint about it as he uses the feature, but in 10 pages of the Beta forum threads i cant see a single mention of it. All i can find is some threads in General Discussion that read suspiciously like someone just logged in straight after watching the video to post some kind of 'gotcha', it reeks of bad actor to me.

It wasn't rushed out like you think. It's been in Beta for well over a year (private & public combined). But like DJ Stu-C said, if you don't participate in the public beta, you really can't belly ache about the things you find wrong. Also to be honest, no software is 100% functional. I'm not trying say Serato DJ 4.0 don't need work but the mods have been doing their jobs for the beta and the official release. It is a major release and the biggest release/overhaul for Serato to date, so with that comes issues no matter how long it was in beta.

100% Ragman, easily the biggest overhaul they've done.... i always like to ask people, what if someone walked into your place of work, say the event you're DJing at as an example, and started telling you how shit you are at your job and how they cant believe you didnt know XYZ, or something is missing from your setup/workflow. You're not going to be happy are you. Its amazing how freely people think this is ok just because they're on the other side of a keyboard, i can guarantee not a single one of them wuld be receptive of criticism in any form when it comes to something they do.

Please read my post before commenting. Like I said I personally don't have any major issues... Just it's my humble opinion this kind of HUGE update needs a bit more time. After all I been doing this for almost 40 years...
But there are many problems which needs to sorted by Serato. And I still feel its been rushed...

Fully agree on that, I’m on the old version still as I’m not really a library user, and nothing else seems attractive.

look I'm not being paid to test the software. That's why software companies employ testers. I fully expect the software to work without me having to chime in on a beta
you act like serato is open source software but it's not

That’s their business model, and clearly the reason they launched a PUBLIC beta was because they wanted the testing net cast as far and wide as possible, due to the nature of the changes they made.
If you don’t like it, you’re free to move to another software that release fully working updates and don’t use volunteer beta testers.

Agreed. Customers are paying for the software - they're not getting it for free.

Totally agree on the verdict, too. But opening a whole thread for issues that weren’t experienced first hand is a little unfortunate and unnecessary.
