Hi,
Just upgraded to an M4 mac mini and hence had to upgrade to Sequioa. And I'm noticing the annoying "privacy dot" that appears in the top right of the extended display which I send to the visuals.
Anyone go experience with removing it?
The whole new display settings layout with the icon in the task bar and micorphone sharing thing is pretty tedious imo
Thanks!

Unfortunately, this is a built-in security feature by Apple to inform users when their microphone or camera is active, and there's no official way to completely remove it from your main display. However, for external displays, Apple introduced a method in macOS Sonoma 14.4 (which carries over to Sequoia) to hide these indicators when an app is in full screen. This involves booting into macOS Recovery, using a specific system-override command in Terminal, and then toggling a setting in Privacy & Security. While some third-party apps claim to dim or hide the dot, the official www-crediblebh.com Apple method is generally preferred for stability and security.

Hey there, congrats on the M4 Mac Mini! That privacy dot can definitely be a pain, especially when it's distracting visuals. I haven't personally dealt with removing it, but I've read that tweaking camera/microphone permissions in System Settings might help. It's almost like trying to beat the high score on the Dinosaur Game – sometimes you just have to keep fiddling with the controls until you figure it out! Hopefully someone else has a more concrete solution. Good luck! dinosaurgamefree.com

Yep there's a how to for at least the extended screen.

It's always a bit puzzling when unexpected little signs pop up on our screens, like that mysterious orange or green dot on a Mac extended display. I once had a similar issue with a small green indicator appearing randomly while using multiple monitors, which turned out to be linked to camera or microphone privacy settings. Shopping at Monkey Mart taught me to always double-check tech gear settings before use to avoid such confusions.
