Double the price of the Numark Mixstream Pro Go... madness.

maybe cause it has the Alphatheta Badge lol
WildcardX 12:09 PM - 25 January, 2024
The look of it is very unappealing and does not show it's a "Pro" piece of gear. Looks kinda pathetic. This is just my opinion. Maybe it will grow on me but the Opes Quad never grew on me as it striked me as a kind of "Designer" controller.
Ragman 2:07 PM - 25 January, 2024
I'm not that impressed. Awful color design and too basic.
Ragman 2:10 PM - 25 January, 2024
And that price is ridiculous.
Despo 2:28 PM - 25 January, 2024
flop of a product, looks like a toy.

Oh and the price? Double that of a numark mixstream? Nobody is going to buy this

Brandboys will be all over it... waffling on about club standards and time honoured quality or some other nonsense.
HellNegative1 2:59 PM - 25 January, 2024
$1500 Mixstream go with less features. This thing has gotta be a meme
hip hop dan 4:35 PM - 25 January, 2024
is the "pioneer dj" name going to be dissolved? Any of y'all have any ideas/intel on this?

Yes.

They've already put out an official statement.

So far no. The most recent pr stated that PioneerDJ branding will remain for some product lines while alpha theta will be used for others.
SpinThis! 4:48 PM - 25 January, 2024
Seems solid but overpriced. Should have been max $1199 with the Alpha Theta tax. I foresee some holiday sales on November...
hip hop dan 4:59 PM - 25 January, 2024
I'm not mad at the new alpha theta Wave-Eight speaker but it's only 8" for roughly the same price as a QSC k12.2. But wireless is super appealing.

It certainly seems that way but until we get a new CDJ-4000 or a CDJ-3000 rebadged as Alpha Theta (or any of their other products), it's hard to know what's going on.

The wording of their press release strongly implies that Pioneer DJ is old news and Alpha Theta is the new new. [alphatheta.com] However, it's likely going to be a slow transition. They've been making moves recently by changing the support emails, URLs, etc. [alphatheta.com]

A boring but important note that you may know is that the Pioneer DJ trademark (name, logo, trade dress, etc) is licensed to Alpha Theta Corporation by the Pioneer we all know they spun off from in 2015. It wouldn't be uncommon that the sale to Alpha Theta in 2020 triggered a clause in that contract.

Or simply that after Pioneer DJ spun off from Pioneer originally, they licensed the trademark for 10 years and now that agreement is coming up for renewal and either party decided not to continue that agreement for whatever reason.

It'll be interesting to see what happens.

According to Mojaxx's review of the device, it is not being dissolved and products will still be released under the name Pioneer DJ
Chino 6:41 PM - 25 January, 2024
I never thought I would say or feel this way but I'd rather go with the Numark Mixstream Pro+ or a Denon Prime Go. The Numark Mixstream Pro+ is literally $699 new & the Denon Prime Go is $999 new. So you are either saving $800 or $500 compared to the VASTLY overpriced Alpha Theta's(Pioneer DJ)'Omnis Duo'.

Besides price, the feature set is way better on the Denon Prime Go & Numark Mixstream Pro+. IMHO, Numark's styling, additional physical buttons & larger jog wheels provides more value for money spent.

Alpha Theta(Pioneer DJ)have lost their mind on pricing. They are banking on Pioneer DJ's reputation of being the 'industry standard'. What they don't realize is that the name 'Alpha Theta' holds no weight to the average consumer. Alpha Theta is starting from ground zero & must gain consumer trust, PROVE their reliability and be innovative.

The 'Omnis Duo' resembles a bad Fisher Price clone of the Denon Prime Go & Numark Mixstream Pro +. No disrespect intended towards Fisher Price.

My take. New products under AT brand with a different design language. Existing ones will slowly be phased out when AT drop a CDJ-3000 style player.

I took it from ATs press release that this brand will live alongside and will be the innovative/fresh brand. Pioneer DJ will produce what it currently produces and will probably be going for another five years with what they already have out and in-the-works stuff coming out. There’s still some Pioneer DJ branded stuff to come out. Updates to existing models etc. once each product has naturally come to the end of their lifespan, expect there’s an AT unit that does all it does and no direct replacement from Pioneer DJ.

New hardware under AT. Existing under Pioneer DJ.

Building the brand will be easy. They have the retail network already with Pioneer DJs distribution and stands in shops. Slowly they’ll shrink the Pio stands and enlarge the AT stands as they’ll be incentivised. Most new gear will have a new design language and we will move away from Pio’s black boxes with coloured buttons to denim blue etc. I can see CDJs looking like Opus Quads in a few years.

Saturate the market with a new design language and suddenly every other manufacturer changes to follow the design trend. When Apple do something, others follow and that’s not always because the others are copying but if they don’t they’ll get left behind.

AT is the phase out of Pioneer DJs brand but it’s a long game and will most probably happen over many years.

IMHO, the 'Omnis Duo' should have been a two channel version of the Opus Quad with a rechargeable battery & bluetooth connectivity. Keep the same minimalistic StarTrek styling but retain many of the physical buttons, knobs & sliders.

I agree that these new Alpha Theta controllers are the beginning stage of phasing out legacy Pioneer DJ gear.
Chino 8:09 PM - 25 January, 2024
I will add that we(DJs) have the power to decide whether these new design decisions are adopted market wide. The only thing companies respect is money. So now is time to let your money speak for you.

Personally, I'm NOT a fan of Alpha Theta's new design decisions & I won't be giving them any of my money going forward.
DJMark 9:37 PM - 25 January, 2024
Hard pass.
DjSyndic8 12:57 AM - 26 January, 2024
I think AlphaTheta has seperated itself from Pioneer so they can get this Serato sale in,
and also put out products under AlphaTheta just to make it look legit, look at the 2 products they bought out, It looks like they called Alibaba and asked if they can make a speaker and a controller, real quick, wtf

AlphaTheta wants to convince the NZ Commerce Commission to think they are not trying to monopolise the DJ industry, so they seperate pioneer from itself,

The 2 competitors in the DJ market is Serato and Pioneer,

thats my thought I could be wrong.

but these big companies will do anything to get what they want,

I think it’s hideous…literally nothing lit up but the screen itself…would be a pain in the ass in a dark environment or i guess buy glow chroma caps or something lol. In 2024 i expected a lot more.
Clubber1970 1:33 PM - 26 January, 2024
What a toy for this price !
AlphaTheta you are number 2 behind Denon with this device. Not impressed at all ….sorry

I'm in the minority here. I like the look (color) of the Omnis-Duo. I have one on pre-order and can't wait to get it. This is the perfect Wedding Ceremony unit. This has a leg up on the Prime Go for me in that it has Mic EQ (Prime Go does not). Lav mics on Officiants (omni mics) can be tricky to get decent gain before feedback and lack of mic EQ makes it trickier. I guess I'm partial to the color blue :P

I could be wrong but didn't Denon add Mic EQing via the screen in a firmware update?

Big change in the way that unit looks - seems like it was a good time to change the branding.

Is the mic mix section the only reason you’d choose it? It’s £500 more than the Go and microphone mini mixers that can EQ and even add extra sources are less than £50. It wouldn’t be as clean but it’s a £450 saving.

I have the Go and I’m genuinely curious what it offers over the Go that is attractive. I know you get Serato Lite too.

I think the mic chain bypasses the internals (like the AUX does too).

Thinking more on this and the speakers ATC released it feels like they are just BS-ing their way through releaseing these products so the acquisition could go in their favour and once this happens things will either slow down or they will change direction with the brand.

It DEF feels that way! I was hoping for a portable Rev-9 spinning platter deck aimed at mobile DJs. Instead, we get a bad rubberized Fisher Price clone & a 90s style Gemini speaker.
