You get up to version 2 before paying again like most DAW software companies sell. It's not clear where you stand on sample packs.

How long will my software updates last?
When you buy Serato Studio, this gives you a heap of updates, all the way up to 2.0.

When’s 2.0?
The distant future. Like Serato DJ Lite and Pro, getting to 2.0 takes a while.

Will I have to pay for 2.0?
To continue to receive updates you would. However, if you choose not to that’s cool. The software will last as long as your operating system supports it.

So when I buy it outright will I still need the internet to log into it? Free sample pack is a cool feature that came with subscription. It would be nice to keep having that because it keep me curious of who would be working on the next one.

Yes you will need the internet when you first log in (we need to check the licence) but once the app is activated on your machine you won't need the internet again until you want to a) Update or b) Change logins/account info.

Here's a bit more clarity around Sound Packs

When 2.0 comes around (which is a very long way away), there will be a one-off upgrade fee (this upgrade cost is still TBC). If you decide to not upgrade to 2.0, the version you are on at the time will still work and the sound packs you have will still work.

If you get the 2.0 upgrade you'll then have access to all the subsequent software updates and sound pack releases.
