Serato having trouble processing all of the information and keeping two tracks synced together. Serato is like loosing some milliseconds of midi transport informations: the sound glitches. It only glitches mostly when two tracks are playing - approximately - one minute together and it happens when I am adjusting the playback speed of the turntable, by manipulating the platter (by slowing down the platter by putting a finger gently along the side). Check video around min 0:20
Serato 2.1 & 2.1.1. (2.0.5 is the most stable).
I use MBP 2017 TB quad core 16 GB with Mojave 10.14.1
I have read: KNOWN ISSUE: Using Serato DJ with Macbook Pro models w/ Touchbar can result in connection issues.

Might want to try the newest Mojave update, seems like a lot of audio issues have been worked on:
support.apple.com
Although I think this is specifically related to the T2 chip vs the touchbar, maybe there has been some bus optimization on the code side.

Bruce T. Product Specialist Serato asked me to do this:
Close all applications.
At your desktop hold down "option" then click "Go" > Library > Preferences.
Move the following files to the desktop (you may not see all three - just move the relevant 'serato' ones).
com.serato.dj.plist
com.serato.scratchlive.plist
com.serato.seratodj.plist
Next, Open Applications --> Utilities --> Activity Monitor
Under the "CPU" or "MEMORY" tabs, locate and force quit all cfprefsd processes, as per the screenshot below;
Now, download and install SDJ 2.1.1
Maybe you can contact him to? Or I attach your email?
I do not speak so good english, maybe you speak it better so its more easy to communicate with Bruce?

Mine do the exact same thing. I just bought mine 2 weeks ago and the very first night playing live it skipped on me at least 6 times. I even exchanged them for new ones and they did it again to me tonight during a live club set. It happens when I am pitch bending with my finger as I did with 1200s. It does it with both speeding forward or slowing down backwards. It’s not every song but it shouldn’t happen at all. It’s making me sound off beat when it does happen.
I have downloaded the latest Serato updates and Rane 72 firmware. As soon as you get an answer back please let me know how to solve this issue as well. Thanks !

Exact the same !! Try Serato 2.0.5 ... That works fine with for me.
Latest answer from Serato:
"Thanks again for your patience. Unfortunately, we haven't been able to reproduce the behaviour that you're experiencing, however, we believe that we suspect that this is related to the Rane 72 Post-fader FX firmware update.
Can you please clarify - does this issue happen when you have no FX engaged at all?
Are you leaving one of the three orange FX arms engaged, even when you have no FX on?
What USB buffer size do you have set? Does changing this to 1ms make this behaviour more apparent? Or less?"

I read the response they sent you, I’ll try switching to 2ms USB Buffer Latency and see if that helps. I usually only have the BLUE Fx button on a lot so that I just have to hit Toggle switch to echo out. Although they said only ORANGE FX buttons, I’m guessing since they are Serato Fx.

Hi there,
Thanks very much for your patience on this.
Does this happen when you use the GUI controls within the software?
Please send a system log, with a timestamp (from the _Serato_/Logs folder), for a session where this happens.
We've logged this as an issue, and added your report to this.
I'll keep your case open in the meantime, as we may have further questions as we work through this.
Kind Regards,
Bruce T.

Can you also contact Bruce T? My english = shit. Maybe you can serve him better?

I had the same problem with the twelves being glitchy on 2 different MacBook pros.. I used to have a 72 I just didn't like the 72 at all but traded it in for another S9.. Now I went back and installed Serato DJ 2.0.5 after reading on here that is runs more smoothly and yes it ran great all weekend, I even noticed my scratches were not glitching like they have with the latest update of Serato DJ.. I think Rane and Serato need to work together on a new firmware update and software update together to fix the glitching... for now I will continue to run Serato 2.0.5

To Reproduce:
1) load a track and play it it on the Rane 12 for 75% of the track length without giving any input to the platter.
2) provide input to the platter by grabbing the track to scratch, powering down, or other input and notice there is a skip
I know... You have a ticket with Serato? They found finally a solution for this?

23/02 was my first contact with Serato about this issue ... About 53 mails ... After that i was bored... To be honest, this takes WAY TO LONG ... So again what i would like ... Open platform -> traktor/rekordbox support for Rane Twelve. It's not a Rane problem, it's a Serato problem and they don't care #6monthnosolution.

Hey team,
Just as a bit of reassurance I can tell you this issue is being worked on currently, but obviously we want to test the fix first so I just can't provide a timeline on when it will appear in a release.
As others in the thread have mentioned, the issue doesn't seem to be there in SDJ 2.0.5 so I would recommend trying that version until a solid fix is delivered.
You can download that here: serato.com
And if you want to try comparing the behaviour of that version with current SDJ versions this guide helps you to have multiple versions installed: support.serato.com

HI DJLiQUiD,
I'm happy to admit this issue took us a little longer than we'd like, to reproduce, but resolving it - is not as simple as one might think. As Mike has suggested however, there has been some good progress made and testing is currently underway.
Can you please let me know your support ticket reference number, so I can follow-up on the incorrect advice you seem to have received?
Cheers

^A Serato fix would be GREAT but I think I'll sit this one out. I still have hope for a more portable, bug free MK2 version of the Rane 12s.
Whether Rane will actually release one or possibly a competitor is anyone's guess at this point.

I'd be all for a V7MKII made by RANE...LOL!! I know, I know- Rane & Numark share the same mother company (inMusic Brand).
Unfortunately, my experience with select Numark products has been sub par. The reliability of these products needed A LOT of improvement!!!

Ticket #574134
- I get told it sounds like im having audio dropouts and get directions to address that
- I explain specifically that the problem is not likely to be an audio buffer/ dropout problem
- Another reply that I should follow directions to troubleshoot dropouts and optimize my macbook
- 1 week has gone by, I explain again that its not a dropout and I followed the directions to troubleshoot. I am told a 3rd time to follow troubleshoot directions because I didn't include a system report
- 15 days later im told to check my cables (cmon), send a report and include a video
Eventually im told the issue is being tested.
I'm a loyal Serato user. Again I'm just expressing my opinion that email support is frustrating at the very least when there are real problems happening.
I'm glad this issue is confirmed and look forward to a fix
same here, it seems like Serato doesn't like to admit they have an issue, I'm still dealing with the same BS you just explained above and till now no one has said hey John, we are aware of the issue and we are working on it, please be patient we are aware of this issue.
that would go a long way, but no, just keep throwing tasks at you to hold you off while they do God knows what.
and Serato by the way my ticket # is 590345

I have been trying everything, and tried unchecking it on 2.0.5.
And for the last half hour, it's been doing ok.
Going to try longer and the newer builds too right now.....

I know that it is for vinyl and not MIDI.
I know exactly the bug and how to recreate as well as I noted earlier. As it was doing it was doing the exact bug for me as well. I recorded some Mixshow sets, in which for radio, I let the song almost play entirely as well.
But with nothing else changed except unchecking the Anti-Drift, it seems to work for me.
It's not a deal breaker as I didn't even realize that option was checked in the first place.
I am in no way saying this is acceptable as one feature shouldn't affect another and cause something to be useless as it is doing.
Just my 2 cents so they can hopefully get this fixed ASAP
Thanks for the FB post. I hope they can get it fixed soon. Maybe they can even let the Twelve owners in on that beta as well.

What's weird in my situation is that 2.1 it was glitchy. 2.0.5 so far for the past week has been perfect and I recently started using 2.2.2 to test for the glitch and haven't had any issues at all for the last few days (yet lol). I'm going to continue to test.

Now I’m not sure why it worked for me the other day. But makes me wonder, will it work today or not? Which is a nightmare. So can’t even take it to any gigs right now!
This post has helped with my insanity knowing I wasn’t imagining the glitch.....

I am only commenting to add to the urgency that I hope Serato or Rane needs to have to address this issue, I am not trying to go over the top negative. I am beyond dissapointed in the responses I have had from Serato trying to deal with this issue. The BOTTOM LINE is that the twelves drift, if you have been playing for a minute or so, you get a 1/8 or 1/4 note off, if you go two to three minutes, perhaps even a 1/2 beat off. This makes it impossible to start a cut on beat, adjust the record while mixing, catch a juggle on beat, do a power down etc.... Once you hit a cue or adjust the record it resets, but it makes it impossible to be consistent. I had been going back and forth with Serato mulitple times and I got the typical, we can't duplicate it on our end, have you tried it with pitch n time off, what computer, another freinds computer, have you checked this and that setting, etc... VERY FRUSTRATING as I spent A LOT of wasted time trying EVERYTING suggested only to be a complete waste of my time. For what it is worth I own 2 72's and 4 Twelves (home and road set) all do it. I even wasted an evening setting up multiple setups with another DJ who uses a 72 and Twelves and we all have the same results. As much as I have been pleased with Serato and Rane in the past with products and customer service I am equally as dissapointed to be given the run around when they have to know this is an issue. So what was my solution, gave up and am using my 1200s again. This will either be temporary or permanent. My 1200s are completely accurate, strange that would be the case reading a code from a needle compared to the way a Twelve is supposed to work. I completely went in with the Twelves thinking they would be the future and I do like some of the features, but bottom line, my equipment needs to be accurate. Again, I only type all of this hoping it adds to the sense of urgency we all need from Serato / Rane in addressing this.

Yes I guess it happens to everybody and I think it’s related To that solved glitch.
The twelve might have a slightly slower rpm speed than real internal speed. With the old glitch the speed of the file played by the twelve was locked (when not touching the twelve) on the internal speed. But the twelve platter (or disc if you prefer) was just accumulating it own delay. Finally, after 30 sec or one minute, when you touched the platter or disc it was then releasing that accumulated delay by recalibrating the music file on the platter. That was the old glitch.
Now the twelve is not locked anymore on internal speed. It just drift from internal speed with it own improperly calibrated speed.
But I think it’s way better than the old glitch, which was infamous. You now can manually correct it old school ways. You can’t use sync anymore.
Cheers.
