I think that a crucial feature that all MPC's have is the ability to chop samples by number of regions. Serato Sample just allow to chop a sample every 1/2/4/8/16 beats.
I think it's important, because sometimes Serato calculates wrong bpms and this affects the way the VST chop the sample through the the "Set Slicer" function. Since the calculated bpm is wrong, the sample will be chopped with the wrong bpm count.
Also the MPC Software has this feature. You should look for it.
