I been having the mackie thump15s for a year or so now and I got a event where i feel I might need a sub. The venue im djing (based on the client) can fit 150-200 people. Any ideas on the best sub for my situation?

Can't think of a good sub for that price. I'd rent a quality sub rather than buying something crappy.

Yeah - $650 for a sub is not going to get you much.
There are plenty of threads on this forum with great subwoofer advice. Do a quick search and you'll find what you're looking for.

My co promoter spent around that on a 15" sub recently and it's pretty piss poor. You need at least one (preferably two) double 18" to push enough bass for bass heavy music for a 100-200 person room from my (albeit limited) experience.
It does suck to spend half the cost of a shitty sub to hire a half decent small PA for a night (then factor in transport costs and can end up being pretty much the same cost..) so sometimes bang for buck could mean it is worth buying a piece and trying to find a friend with another to loan, then buying more when can afford.
If it's a one time only thing though rental is the best option for decent sound.
www.bounceaudio.com.au I was looking at the QSC stuff myself when considering hiring

EV EKX 18SP is the best deal in the $1000 range.

One of the most underrated subs on the market.

What makes it so underrated? 45hz-250hz freq response is not very impressive.

$799 isn't too bad.

I have only used EV mics so far in my experience but thinking they would make some quality speakers/combos too
