Serato Software Feature Suggestions
Serato DJ - Day Mode!!!!
What features would you like to see in Serato software?

Been using SDJ for more than two years and while I appreciate all the functionality the software offers, I myself ask the serato dev team to bring day mode to SDJ! I had countless sunny outdoor gigs where the sun is glaring onto my screen and I could barely see anything. I believe a lot of you guys want this feature just as much as I do so give this post a +1!!!
I would go with a similar color scheme as ITCH.

You guys (Apple users) know that control + option + command + 8 reverses the contrast on your laptops, right? Day mode.

Once again this affects ALL displays. So if you're using Serato Video, it will not work.

And Once again, it doesn't even come remotely CLOSE to comparing to the day mode of Serato ITCH.

Not even the same. That's a bootleg hack, we need a well thought out solution. Playing in daylight sucks on SDJ.

In Yosemite you have to go into System Preferences > Accessibility > Invert Colors to do this. No more key command.

You're absolutely right. I think this topic got sidetracked in the color inverting talk. We need a real Day Mode option. I played a festival yesterday and it was literally painful to have to use the GUI in the sun. Squinting at a laptop to see your tracks is a real headache. No pun intended.

I don't know why it keeps coming up. We've established before that screen inversion does not even come close to being so much as an acceptable band-aid solution for what was Serato ITCH's Day Mode.

Day mode plus Beat lock......I got to the end of a track yesterday and needed to kick lock the beat jump to hold the 4 beats while I dug a tune out. Just one click on the encoder could solve the issue rather than constantly twiddling...how hard can just a one click lock be?

I wouldn't quite put it like that. As a matter of fact out of the apps I mentioned above Traktor is the last fit for that description. Traktor and Serato use the same concept for DVS. Both use time code, both use vinyls.............. again what am I missing?
Do you still bring crates of vinyls with Serato? Does it in some way emulate this experience for you better than Traktor? I was under the impression both use DJ hardware to control software on your laptop that plays music files. Serato has SYNC, quantize and snap just as Traktor does. Am I missing something? What is this cheat mode you speak of?

djallstyle: Serato Itch 2.0, released in 2011, introduced a feature called "Day Mode". It inverted the interface to a white interface, but it was really well designed, and made it so that you could feasibly use Serato Itch in brightly lit environments.
Mind you, this cannot be compared in any way with using OS X's (*cough* macOS') Desktop Inversion feature. It was so much better than that. Also note that such an inversion feature is not available on Windows.
Here's a video from Serato showing this: youtu.be
We've been asking for it in Serato DJ ever since Itch was discontinued.

Its been over 2 years since this post and no day mode for Serato dj, especially when it was already incorporated in Itch. I'm surprise its taking software engineers at Serato this long to implement this needed feature in Serato dj.
So Serato what's the deal, patent infringement??
development team can't get it to work? - Pay an outside developer and get it done.
Sounds like the plea from djs are falling on deaf ears.

We're all entirely clear on how to invert the display. It's just that it is unacceptable, and not a valid solution. Likewise, if you use video (as has been described over 5 years of comments in this thread and the other one (serato.com)), inverting is not an option that anyone should consider at all.

Inverting the colours is a half measure. I don't use video, but I do use the wave forms colour coding to anticipate track progression, I do colour code tracks to know their energy level or style, and I do colour code cue points for various uses.
When I invert the screen, these all become useless.
Day mode please.

Ahhh no sh**!That's not why people are posting, from my experience it's a work around at best.
Not everything is displayed nicely with inverse view mode.
I think people honestly need to see ITCH Day Mode to understand why it's different from simply inverting your display colours.
Yes sir.

First outdoor daytime gig since ITCH and my NS7.
I was shocked to see that this feature wasn't preserved into DJP.
We really need this back Serato!

It's already been 5 years. This was requested almost immediately after SDJ was released. It just so happens that this thread is only 3 years old. I thought FLAC implementation was a joke with how long that took, but this is shaping up to surpass even that.

Indeed. This is a feature request which has existed ever since Itch was deprecated, and Serato DJ hit "Public" Beta.

If you are on a windows machine, do the following:
Hold down Windows key and hit + on the keyboard
When magnifier opens, set the zoom level to 100%
Hold down CTRL+ALT and hit the "i" key.
Boom! Inverted screen! Theres probably something similar on MAC.

Lol. There could be a feature request with like 35+ pages and theyd still give the same response.

Maybe they don't really have that many people working at Serato. If it is a small company with only a handful of employees, I could imagine that they don't have enough time to work on a feature that no other DJ software currently has.

Please bring in the daylight mode version as seen on Serato Itch or a high contrast custom version and ability to resize the screen panels individually.

Whats disconcerting is that I did not see one person from Serato chiming in on this thread for the past 3 years! They could at least acknowledge us and maybe even provide a time-table. Even if that time-table is that it's not on an current roadmaps for X months/years.

Windows has built in screen inversion using magnifier.
Open magnifier by holding "WIN" key and hitting "+" key
Then hold "CTRL" with "ALT" and hit "i" keys.

Yeah, this uses the same technology but can be configured much more and switchable between different profiles with key commands.
Seems pretty transparent until you need it

I've been testing it almost a week now and i can say that daymode is absolutely great. Finally a very important tool is added and it means a lot to me that i can work flawlessly in conditions with 35-40 degrees Celsius under an umbrella or a light shade , but even with no shade at all , with very few difficulties! A very big Thank you to Serato !
p.s. i see a turn in the company to adding features that are wanted by us and not just for marketing reasons. i predict that this is going to continue happening with other features as well.
