my airhorn is not pristine and smooth. The module creates a noticeable degree of crackling distortion throughout the sounds duration. It is characterized by short and , higher-than-the-sounds-tone, crackles. The crackles are present at any volume level and at any degree of parameter (pitch). The other sound modules do not exhibit this distortion … ONLY the AIRHORN .. which is sad because that is the main reason I bought this controller. ;)

Hi audiomontana,
Being that this is a hardware effect, this will be covered by a warranty. I would take the unit back to the retailer that you brought it from.

Hi audiomontana,
There does sound like some artifacts in there. Being that an airhorn is an extremely loud sound to record, I'd imagine its possible there is some distortion in the recording. I'm not 100% sure what the original recording sounds like however. It would be up to pioneer to decide this.
