I'm trying to use my DDJ-SR with the latest version of Serato, and the latest firmware update on the SR. However I get the message "No compatible DJ device detected". When I load Serato and then turn the SR on, it does the think where all the lights flicker around like it's connecting and then the 2 serato decks appear on screen for a split second, then I get the "Error: Failed to Connect Audio" message at the bottom of the screen.

I've already tried setting the Audio and Recording devices on the laptop to their default settings. I've also tried 2 cables, in all the USB ports. I have also tried the controller in a friends laptop using the latest Serato, and it works fine.

As a side note, the computer itself recognises the controller, when I turn it on I get the Windows "Device connected" noise, and it shows up in the drivers and in the device manager.

Any help would be appreciated!

Hey,

Can you please confirm that you have been through ALL of these steps here: support.serato.com - can you also try ALL USB ports on your machine and a different USB cable as well?

If you still have trouble can you get me a screen shot from device manager showing the USB host controller installed in your machine?

Hey Sam, thanks for replying.

Not being funny buddy, but I said I'd tried all those things already in my description ;)

I've included a screenshot of the device manager now.

I'm running Windows 8, not 8.1 as i've heard there are issues. I have two USB 2.0 ports and only one is USB 3.0 port, the same thing happens when connected to all of them (i've heard USB 3.0 can cause issues).

I've also heard iTunes library can cause problems with Serato and the DDJ-SR, I don't use Quicktime, and i've never installed iTunes.

I've had other controllers work fine on this laptop too ;)

Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry, I wasn't particularly clear before. Could you please expand the "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" dropdown so we can see what USB host controller you have, ie, eXtensible / Renesas etc.

Here you go :)

It's pretty much the same as the other upload, but i've expanded the Universal Serial Bus section. The SR doesn't come up under that particular drop down. It only appears under "Sound, Video and Game Controllers" and "Audio Inputs and Outputs".

Hey Dan89,

I'm not looking for the SR in that dropdown, what I'm looking for is the brand of your USB host controller. It should be either Renesas or eXtensible.

Let me know,

Sam

Hey Dan89,

Even though the driver says it is up to date could you try this update that is sourced directly from intel: downloadcenter.intel.com ?

Let me know how you go,

Sam
Dan89 8:29 AM - 13 April, 2014
Hey Sam,

Tried downloading the driver from the site, got the following error message when trying to open the setup executable "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing this software". I get the same message when I try another extensible driver on the intel site too. This driver update should work though, im using an ASUS X202-E laptop, with a 3rd Gen Intel i-3- 3217U processor.

The compatibility issue might be down to the drivers being for Windows 7, not Windows 8. I found this info on the subject -

www.intel.com

and

www.intel.com

I've always had Windows 8, so i'm not upgrading or anything. So I probably shouldn't uninstall the drivers and then try again, because if I uninstall the current driver and then try and install the driver you recommended above and I get the same error message, then im screwed. lol.

I've checked on the ASUS website, under X-202E drivers, but I can't find one for the USB Host Controller.

Thanks Dan89,

Can you do me a favor and try running MIDI-OX to see if your controller can successfully send MIDI messages: serato.com

Let me know if you get any error messages.

Hi Sam,

Haven't been using controller so didn't check Midi-ox until yesterday - No good. I run midiox while the SR is plugged in and it detects nothing.
Dan89 10:21 AM - 30 July, 2014
Sorry my bad, checked it again and followed instructions - it does work. I can see midi messages being sent when I move faders/knobs and press buttons.

I did last night before I stated posting. Matt Perry is taking care of me and has me running the public beta version to see if that resolves my disconnect issues. (been running so far for about an hour and things are looking very hopeful/promising.

Im having the same issue with my ddj-sx. I just purchased an Alienware X51 r2, windows 8.1 64bit. It's plugged into a USB 2.0 port. Made sure settings for mic and audio were placed on the computer and not the ddj. Same issue. Latest firmware and Serato software installed. Now what?
Harmonyx 5:46 PM - 26 January, 2015
Oh yeah. Serato shows the ddj as being connected but no decks show
ReyA305 8:51 PM - 26 January, 2015
Its been about a week since I had this Failed to connect to audio issue, no decks showing on serato, and I have tried everything you guys have suggested and nothing. I am all out of ideas and I see that I am not the only one.

Hey, how does the Mic and audio relate i don't understand what you mean. (do you mean your audio out is your monitor?) also i think you may need a diffrent driver than me i have win. 7, window's 8 is here if you might of grabed the wrong one. (pioneerdj.com)

Hey, yeah i got mine to work today i have tried doing updates in different orders, (hoping that maby it was just picky on the order)and not sure if that worked but today it functioned (but like i said its on and off working), but the problem is far from fixed because its unreliable that i cant even do gigs. i have been having this issue for about 4 months so i feel you man.

side note: another issue i found that didn't see fix's for are if you ddj-sx gets a static charge the platters don't respond to touch and you need to ground them better. just a tip i figured out

OK, so I opened device manager and removed the ddjsx as it was placed in audio/speakers section. From what I have learned thus far is you basically have to stop the computer from automatically grabbing your ddjsx as your computer's soundcard or mic as this will inhibit the ddjsx from working as a sound card for Serato. After I removed the ddjsx from device manager I installed the latest 8.1 driver from pioneer, opened audio devices and changed both my audio output from the ddjsx to my monitor and the mic to the Relaltek local mic. I fired it up and it's flawless in audio and stable in function.

you may have an issue with your USB cord or it may have a bad cord

I am having the same issue. It is pretty much describes best in this form discussion that is closed (but apparently not resolved)

serato.com

Essentially, my macbook pro (Latest version, updated) with Serato (latest updated version) will not "fully" connect to my DDJ-SR. I can play a song on the left deck... audio comes out of my macbook... and I can even control the tempo, jog wheel and cue point of that one channel. By the way, only one channel because it looks the same as if nothing was plugged in... only one horizontal wave display.

TRIED: Another friends laptop/ DDJ-SR, holding shift + sync and restarting the controller then updating, Yelling at it, other USB cords and slots, Looking into the "Audio MIDI Setup and changing the defaults of the audio sources...
I can't find any other leads to try for this so I'm guessing it's a hardware issue... probably with the sound card.

Can I get this replaced anywhere or at least get a new part for it?

Thank you

Same issue "Failed to Connect Audio" message on Dell Optiplex 760 in Windows 8.1 using DDSX hardware. Machine dual boots in Mac OS X/Windows and works with Mac OS, however not Windows. How's that for irony? Going to try some of the solutions that ya'll have tried already on this thread. Fingers crossed

I know this topic is long since dead, but it still comes up in the Google results. For those who've come here because of an "Error: Failed to Connect Audio" in Serato DJ with their DDJ-SSX2, you might not have installed the correct drivers. Go here to download. Once installed your decks should appear as soon as you connect the controller to the computer.

pioneerdj.com
James Falk 8:25 AM - 20 March, 2015
For those having issues connecting their PC to Pioneer controllers I'll hop on the bandwagon & thank Zackd41 for advising to go to pioneerdj.com where a driver update will immediately solve the "Error: Failed to Connect Audio" problem many users have had.

I've got a secondary issue I'm troubleshooting as I write this. Songs aren't loading into either deck once my DDJ-SX is connected, nor will the one deck that appears when serato is running without a controller.

Someone here is suggesting to check device manager / sound card setting. I'll advise once I've tried this.
