I just got a new DDJ-SR and downloaded the Serato DJ software to my Mac. Everything worked just fine for a while, but when I plugged in my SR's USB and opened up the program it would acknowledge the controller's presence for a split second, only to revert back to a single-channel display. The controller is definitely still powered, the cords are all plugged in securely with no twists and tangles, I've tried switching everything on and off again, and the software and firmware are all up to date completely. I've tried reinstalling the program, too. It still gives me the same message: "Error: failed to connect audio".

Hey bjm11,
Thanks for getting in touch with us. Can you please try something for me.
Go to Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup > Make sure that the DDJ-SR is NOT set as the default soundcard. It should be set to the built in soundcard.
Let me know how that goes.

The problem fixed itself-- It's back and working like a charm! :) Thanks for the help!

Ok, it happened again-- I went to the application you mentioned and it didn't seem like the SR was the default sound card but there wasn't anything explicitly referring to sound cards I could find, and I couldn't edit many of the options that were there. What the Audio MIDI Setup application showed me was a window with three icons: "IAC Driver", "Network", and "Pioneer DDJ-SR". The Audio tab in Preferences did me no good, either. The problem is still persisting-- any suggestions?

Sounds like you are in the MIDI window of the Audio MIDI setup. If you go back up to the Task bar you'll see Window > Show Audio Window. You can check to see if the controller is set as Default there and switch it out to the built in if need be.
