There was NO way in hell....
As a matter of fact, I used to bring an extra EMPTY crate at night to still all the freestanding vinyl in that was piled up, that I did not have time to carefully put back in their jackets...
I'd put the stack into the crate, put it in the front seat with me on the way back to the crib, and put back in the jackets later in the week.
Heaven help us if we had a party the next day.

Oh, the Pickerings sounded MUCH better than the QLM's, especially over time...not to mention, they looked like the "New Age" Stantons....and conversely could be used IN a Stanton cartridge...
But those QLM's allowed me to do scratches and tricks FEARLESSLY (at the time), that nobody around here could do with ease...
And that also included NO pennies, nickels, or dimes on the headshell neeva.
I approached it from a scientific standpoint also...
I figured if you needed to stick an additional weight on the headshell, like a penny or something, you might as well get a REAL additional "headshell" weight and do it.
So I had 2 "Headshell" weights on my jawn, and nobody could figure out how what was different about my jawns vs. errybody elses.
Trust, only cats who "KNEW" knew...

I always hated carrying amplifiers, I remember when we'd be loading stuff in...everybody would work around the amplifiers in the hope that somebody else would take it, until they were the last thing left.Last time I rented some powered speakers, I couldn't believe how little they weighed

Me too, the Alpha 220....
That was the first amp I had with no volume knobs...
Was the main amp for the rig when we first started out....
Then became the amp strictly for the "Highs" in our 3-Way System....
It had it's place in time, plus had purty lights....

LoL... I used mine for home audio. Ya'll was bootlegging using a home amp for DJ'ng as we all did in one way or another.
I had one of these: forums.peavey.com Peavey CS800's as my first DJ amp. I didn't know about crossovers and would EQ down stuff over 200Hz for subs and did the opposite for highs. I don't miss lugging around speakers like this: i254.photobucket.com
Come to think of it... I didn't know jack about PA back then; I only appreciated quality sound and equipment. The Internet has helped change all that.
