One of the "Bigger Named" DJ's put me up on this. Holy shnikes!! What SSL REALLY HAS IN STORE for the 1.9 goes beyond the bells and whistles they introduced in the beta. Its more like gongs and sirens


Anyone else figure out the easter egg yet??

Well everyone knows there is an Easter Egg. Sam made it public in the NAMM video.

They aren't gonna figure it out anyways....

Other easter eggs. After someone told me how to unlock them, I'd figure "That wouldn't of been hard with the right hints"

But this one......I doubt anyone will figure it out unless someone tells them.

shit this easter egg just took my set last night to a WHOLE NEW LEVEL. The Serato programmers are CRAZY!!!

How would Pitch N Time be a useless feature? The ability to make all your mixes match in keys are perhaps create harmonies, or more complex chords with different songs would be nothing but a plus

ssl1 or 57 needs to be plugged in. 57 users will really benefit from this. for those using the sl1 you will need a controller of some sort.

Ok guys here ya go first scratch out ↑ ↑ ↓ ↓ ← → ← → B A to unlock then play through as chung li without getting hit (WITHOUT USING GOD MODE) when you get there use the warp whistle in the 2nd castle to fly OVER the wall past the lava pit to unlock the warp gate, this will let you warp tracks in ableton

i wonder if there's an easter egg allowing you to scratch any of the 6 samples.

say if you were to press the appropriate sample key (z,x,c,v,b,n) and have it loaded on to the deck, for ex: If i want the sample that's assigned to letter z, I hit ctrl + shift + z and it loads it to the non playing side so you can scratch it.

i wish there was a way to do that, instead of browsing through my library trying to find that sample.

Check the video from NAMM it's VSL for SL1 withouth the need for the 57. You will be a ble to use it easier with a midi trigger pad but can be used with your keyboard. Dope video options check the bass hits the floor video option.

Art, you can use Relative Mode only in conjuncture with a midi device. If you look at the picture, on the far right deck, both the Rel. and Midi buttons are lit up. Otherwise, it's Internal mode only. And yes. You can use the midi controller's slider as a pitch control.

^^^never thought about that - maybe that is probably how this audio part happened. In all the video demos you have the 2 decks and a preview deck in the center for live video output.

Maybe they just took the SL video output and just used the audio part for the 3rd SL deck and made it pitch control with midi - genius.

Makes sense since it works with the SL -1 now, just tweak a little code, add a GUI virtual deck and you get a third deck. SWEET!

Yes LT. It will work with the Trigger Finger. You can asign the pitch control to one of the 4 MIDI-assignable faders. You can actually make one a +-8%, another +- 16%, etc.

Finally found how to unlock the third deck. You just have to shout really hard at your Scratch Live software. The secret words are: Give me more decks, b**ch! And remember the harder you yell the more decks you get. I made it to 6. Who can beat me?

Oh yeah my bad JC...I missed that. To the O.P. of that pic....FAIL...lol. I kinda hope theres a third deck though, but there are some things in the pic you hosted that make me want to believe its chopped like the spelling of "tripple" in the lower left hand corner, or the squareness of the int. button on the far right deck. But then again it is rane/serato and they could of intended to spell it "tripple" for some odd reason and with the squareness of the int. button that could just be a visual guideline of telling the difference between the two normal decks and the "third midi deck" especially with that midi button next to it. I just hope i'm wrong about it being fake (as far as the third deck option goes)

Honestly a 6 year old could photoshop 3 decks into the the SSL interface... and might even spell triple right! Theres no patterns in the background, hell you could do this chop in MS PAINT.

I'm still mega skeptical. You can post a pic but you cant tell us how to do it for fear that Rane/Serato/Santa will dial you up for a 45min scream-a-thon?

Until i see a high quality youtube vid of this in action with sound, I call extreme, runny, stinky bull poop.

Alright Alright......The cat is out of the bag. I wasn't able to follow this thread much yesterday but apparently everyone knows WHAT THE EASTER EGG DOES

When I posted this thread, I didn't know JC was told the egg as well, hence the confusion of not letting it slip, because the DJ who told me about the egg didn't say anything about keeping a tight lip. I just talked with him yesterday and he's getting a kick out of the thread, and he doesn't even come to scratchlive often.

So you guys know there is a 3rd deck right? But here's the kicker.

You can slave the third deck from one of your decks. So you if you adjust pitch in real time, the other will follow. Its optional....but you have to click the 3rd deck and then CTRL Click the deck you want it to be slaved off of.

Now...we all know the Ableton partnership is coming up. Well, I did this without thinking but when I went to tap play on the midi controller for the third deck, it did something similiar to Ableton. When I hit play....it didn't play. It waited till the Host deck hit the "1" count then it played starting on the 1 as well.....just like in Ableton when playing clips.


Now you know. There are so many clues in this thread, but not ALL that is necessary. Play around with it....you'll get it.

I fucking show them Loop Roll on 1.8.2, cues and all these tricks Ive picked up since 06. They ended up buying 2 SSL packages. GC owes me commission, BITCHES!

I dunno but alot of us working DJ's sell SSL alot to other DJ's. We all have friends who are highly skeptical of the technology but once they try it, They buy it.

most employees of GC aren't DJs..they're either guitar players, sound engineers, keyboard players, or drummers..i'm the only DJ at my store so the DJ room is all mine..like i said, I sell a scratch live package or a ttm57 on a DAILY basis..

i get a lot of customers, especially with the economy now, that don't know any difference between torq or virtual dj and SSL..i gotta school them, and they end up buying the best..or at least putting it on layaway until they can afford it..showing more features in SSL just helps with the stubborn customers who dont want to give up their money!

for me though, i try to sell them on the best anyways..why buy something to save yourself money when in the long run, you're either gonna wish you got the best or you'll have to take the loss and buy the best anyways..
plus, i hate selling crap like torq and those hercules consoles to people then having them call me non stop cause they cant get the shit to work..

selling the best = more money for me and Rane/Serato and less headaches

I gotta disagree here, above all else rane is a busniess and for a busniess to be sucsessful every dollar counts, if some idiot who dosent do his homework purchases SSL and never uses it Rane still has their 600 bucks, which pays for their salarys resources and so forth. I wasnt saying was stopping them from doing more upgrades I think they go above and beyone, what I was saying was if less people purchased SSL and their profits started to drop they would make up for it by charging for new features and pluging such as the sampler. Also i dout they would happen as often as they do. We get all this BECAUSE people like Rezin sell tons a day..Keep up the good work Rezin, keep it up and in 5 years well have people asking how to unlock Halo in SSL

i am a regular SSL user too..i preach to customers what i know and what i trust..ive been through torq and traktor scratch but ive still stuck with SSL..believe it or not it takes a lot to convince someone that sees a dj program online for 100 bucks to buy something thats 5 times that much..but i believe in the product and i transfer that enthusiasm and trust to my customers..

SSL is THE industry standard, there's no doubt about that..but the reason Serato even comes up with updates for their software is because of the competition..and if the competition steps their game up and more [non-educated] people buy it, the less money and resources Serato have to keep with the competition..its simple business..

First of all there would be a video showing the game at least...
Second of all, the 3 deck looks so fake...We all know that SSL like to have things simple, and clean and if you take a look that looks like Virtual dj...because its all a mess
and Finally, we all know that if this was true it would be revealed like it has in the past.

Stop wasting your time and keep trying the 1.9 beta so we can find the bugs and they can release the final version..

I was in Guitar Center last night and the salesman sold a guy who was buying his first ever equipment(oveerheard him say it): A numark TT, a Numark M2, and SSL...poor guy just kept asking if the TT was belt drive because he heard those werent very good and that hes been reading about this serato thing haha... Guy's gonna be in for a rude awakening when he finds out serato's not much fun with one TT and no needle!! haha

HAAHH you should have told the GC guy when he comes back in to complain he should tell the kid that you can play with no needle just put the control vinyl on the TT turn it on and select int mode....but make sure to only use red CVs (sold seperatley) in this mode

ehhh...not really, cuz most people know SSL is the best...its those few people who dont bother researching and doing their homework that end up buying Torq or Virtual DJ or something stupid...I think Rane could care less about those people...They are the industry standard right now in regards to Mixers and Digital DJing program.

I was in guitar center last night and one of the sales guys sold a guy buying his first ever equipment: 1 numark tt, a numark m2 mixer and ssl.... The poor guy just kept asking if it was a belt drive tt cause he heard those were pretty bad and kept saying he's been reading up on this serato thing haha... He's gonna be in for a rude awakening when he finds out serato isn't much fun with one turntable and no needles LOL

I dont think the money is what is stopping them from offering more upgrades, its just the fact they actually put lots of time and effort into them, which is why they take longer then we would like...

I found another easter egg. In order for this one to work you need to buy clear CV's (it will only work with CLEAR) hold ctrl s-i-k-e!! this will enable your clear CV to change color when you color code your tracks!!!!! No more excluvise colors!!!!LOL

What I think also got people going was that when you Typed SAM AT NAMM on the BPM's, it actually triggered the AM Feature. LOL So people that they were typing it wrong because it was triggering something and they were getting DENIED. hahaha I think that added credibility and made it seem possible. Haha

You can type anything that has the word AM on it and it will trigger the AM feature, you don't need the word DJ. Hahaha

Thats the livefeed competition and I know how to use livefeed. What I am talking about is not loading a livefeed track on to my deck and streaming it. It is loading a serato recording track that streams the other deck playing.

On a side note. I purchased an SL3 a few months back and have a lot of issues with it, from the livefeed not working to recording poor sound quality and many USB drop outs. Never had any problems with my SL1. So if you are thinking of buying the SL3, you should wait until the release the 1.9.1 software update that is supposed to fix all these problems.

i had this thing happen yesterday where i accidentally touched the record with my hand and moved the record back and forth causing a "wiki-wiki" type of sound to come out of the speakers. simultanouesly i also accidentally touched the crossfader with my other hand causing the sound to cut in and out in a rhythmic pattern. i don't know what the hell it was but it sounded pretty cool. i think i'm going to call it "itching". maybe in a few years it will catch on with a lot of DJs and change the whole DJing game. who knows...maybe a DJ crew from San Francisco will catch on, learn it, and take it to a completely ridiculous level causing all other DJs to bow in awe.

anyways...anyone else been able to reproduce this?

When Sniff first posted this thread, I looked to see what it was about and I knew it was nothing. If I say there is an Easter egg, then there is one. I don't have time to play around and then check back here to see how many people fell for my "joke." I try to help people when I can, but its whatever... I won't be the one to drop it tho.. I'll let someone else do the honors. In all honesty, with the amount of people I see who mark their records, my guess is that less than 50% will care; less than half of that might understand it and half of that would actually USE it.
