And also download and reinstall Serato DJ 1.5.2 and see how it go.

thank you for the reply, I have updated the firmware and re-installed serato DJ and have also followed the steps about getting rid of all my corrupt files and also made a new database, the problem I am still having is that on the right deck the key lock keeps turning its self off whilst I'm mixing/scratching. i hope you can help

I also have problems with a freezing controller. I noticed that i get it when pitching with Key lock switched on. It happens less to none when i switch key lock off. On my desktop it's horrible, and freezes almost instant (Intel Q9300, 4GB Ram), but when i use my laptop (i7, 8GB) it's not easy to reproduce. (might also be computing power, but then it should work flawlessly on the laptop).
I'm also gonna check a powered USB hub and see if that improves anything.

Might also be an Firmware issue on Pioneers side.

My freezing has stopped for the moment!... But my key lock on deck 2 keeps switching off! I'm waiting for an answer still! So re-install serato, update firmware and delete ALL corrupt files! (Still doesn't stop the key lock switching off)

Smart sync is on with beatgrid and music on both decks. just mixing and blending with key lock on. after a while the sync goes off on right deck.

I don't have the sync on at all it's just me mixing normally and the right Keylock turns off all the time! Check my other started discussions other djs are having the exact issue, will it be fixed soon as I will have to return my SR within the next 8 days to get my full refund and I haven't taken it out to work yet as I don't trust it and using my SL3 till it's fixed

Also the library is linked with I Tunes and make sure music is playing on both decks etc and then the key lock will switch off.

Just had a play and If you cue a song up, and press the cue button repeatedly on deck one (like Dj EZ) and then play it that usually trips it and the Keylock turns off on deck 2 .. I do it a lot to drop lyrics in etc...

My DDJ-SR just froze up on me for the first time. Both decks playing and I lost all control of functions on the DDJ-SR.

Updating the firmware on the DDJ-SR worked for me, haven't experienced any freezing or controller malfunction since then.

Pioneer's latest firmware fix the froze up issue but this key lock issue is seems to be new issue. We might need to wait for next firmware update from Pioneer. Meanwhile try reset Serato DJ's preference file and see how it go.

(Close all applications first)

1. Open up a finder window and click your Macintosh HD icon.
-- Once the finder window opens click GO on your top task bar HOLD the "OPTION" key and "Library" will appear. Click LIBRARY.
2. Open the 'Preferences' folder.
3. Move the "com.serato.dj.plist" and "com.serato.seratodj.plist" file to your desktop.
4. Launch SERATO DJ and wait till software is loaded then connect controller.

NOTE: Removing Plist files will reset any changes you have made in the Serato DJ / SETUP menu. If you want to go back to previous setups, just simply move back those plist files from desktop to preference folder and over write them.

Please let me know how it go.

I updated everything and my DDJ-SR still froze up on me as I was using the right side pitch fader with the right side key lock on.

I've been dealing with this issue since I bought the SR. I opened a help request and I think we have finally got it figured out. So I'm just going to pass on the process I went through and I hope this helps. Here's the short version, after a month of messing with this thing!

First thing is update the firmware for the controller.

-there's also direction on this site on how to do this.

Once you have done this:
1. Plug your controller into USB of computer, turn on controller, and fire up SDJ.
2. [once SDJ shows 2 decks] Exit out of SDJ, turn off controller and unplug from computer.
3. On your computer: Search Audio/Midi Setup.
4. Open this app, Click on [Window] tab, Choose [Show Midi Window]
5. Delete the SR driver.
6. Close out of all programs and Restart computer.
7. Follow step 1.

This has fixed the Freezing issue. It had something to do with a bad driver from the original release. This process just forces your computer to re install the new driver from the new firmware update. You can skip steps 1&2 if you want? I'm just passing on my process with this. Although I will pass on that, I deleted the driver before the latest firmware release, and I was experiencing the same issue. Until I followed those steps. This is for Mac users. As for PC, you just need to download the new driver from the site above, that will override the old one and should fix the issue.

The Key Lock issue is definitely a known issue, I'm sure Serato will fix it in the next firmware update!

Pioneer just released new firmware version 1.06.

So far I have been running the update 1.06 over and over and I haven't had any freeze ups or key lock issues yet. It seems to be working pretty well. I will continue to test it. I followed DJTAH's procedure and updated the pioneer 1.06 update and it works fine as a result. Hopefully it will continue until the next update.

I am also very disappointed by Pioneer and serato. No one can help. It would have to come again for a new firmware! I'm curious whether before New Year's Eve yet what.
Otherwise, I am selling my 3 Controller DDJ-SR and get me the S4 with Traktor.
Please register as soon as you have the Maybe the problem solved with new firmware, or is there another drying.

Now I have an emergency solution! Traktor mapping available since today. And no freeze!
Not everything works as with serato, but as a last resort?
All male better than crash and freeze Serato.
I hope it comes out soon the new firmware!

Im Patiently waiting for an update just like everyone else here after my SR froze up on me the first night I used it (NYE) luckily it was during the last 2 songs of the night... After reading through a bunch of the post in this disscussion I decided to chance using it again, I can't say whether this is full proof or not, but I did a gig tonight (Jan 3, 2014) from 10pm to about 3:30am with the sync feature deactivated in Serato DJ and everything ran smooth, no freezing or any other hickups... hope this helps some of out, let me know...

I don't have a date for you but having spoken to Pioneer it sounds like it's very close. I would guess within a week or two.

- Just updated to firmware ver 1.7, the update was straight forward and only took a couple minutes. After completing the update I messed around with the controller for a little over an hour and didn't have any freezing issues :)

- However I did notice that the right platter would become unresponsive often enough to raise some concern. Im not sure if this is just a hardware issue or what...? while in vinyl mode it stops responding to touch so I wouldn't be able to scratch, and it also loses its pitch bending capability. Note: this problem occurred on and off during the time I was using it tonight.

- What experience have you guys been having so far?

Updated to 1.07 as well, not problems what so ever.
Played around with it, and tried to break it by setting pitch to 50% + Key lock and sliding faders like a mad man.
Have not seen any crash.

For Dj Twitch100's problem, i have not seen this personally.
Will keep an eye on it for a while to see if this is producible.

What i did notice is that completely hammering the pitch makes the sound go robot from time to time.
Now extreme pitching is not something you would do in a live set, but still is something to keep an eye on.
Might have also been due to low latency on my machine (2ms).

So far my feeling is that it fixed the crash issue which is great.

I do have a pointer though....
Please improve the key lock algorithm, compared to Traktor it's very bad.
Also i miss a proper set list tool, as i cannot drag songs around to put them in my preferred order.
Nonetheless, since i'm a Traktor lover i must admit that i'm starting to love Serate more and more.

I can't update the firmware. Every time I try to load it, it says my ddj-sr isn't connected

hit SHIFT+SYNC
turn on run update

had the same problem with update. If SHIFT+SYNC doest work download the file again. It has worked by my update... Now I´m testing the controller if it´s still doesn't help I will bring it back ( thank goodness i´ve 30 days money back guaranty :D )

I applied the 1.07 Pioneer firmware upgrade on my DDJ SR and I did not experience the freezing issue last night. I DJ for over 4 hours and my videos did not freeze and everything was normal.

Pitcht fader was responding as normal and they never acted up on me.

Does anyone use OS X Mavericks 10.9.1 on their MacBook Pro?

I brought the DDJ-SR only a few weeks ago, and this past Saturday I used it along with Serato Video for the first time. The controller froze after the first hour, then again 2 hours later. As I am new to using midi controllers I was under the impression that the controller had the latest firmware. I will get a chance to check tonight.

As i have also just upgraded my OS X to Mavericks 10.9.1, I really just wanted to see if anyone has had problems with the DDJ-SR & OS X Mavericks.

Please read my post above. 1.07 solved my problems. I have used the DDJ SR a few times with Serato Video and haven't seen any signs of freezing.

I still have problems with freezing of the controller, running latest firmware and using serato 1.6.
The big problem is that it is really random now.
Sometimes it works for hours at end, and other times it freezes every 30 min.
So no, the latest firmware imho did not fix the issue.

I have had 2 gigs, and both times my controller froze up. I am truly amazed. I had the DDJ-S1 when it came out and the effects wouldn't work at random times. I am honestly amazed that a company could put out such an expensive product and not have answers to these problems.
