Serato Video General Discussion

Talk about Serato Video and Video-SL.

Serato losing ground on the video game?

vinylmanipulator 10:04 PM - 19 December, 2008
Mix emergency is out...now Traktor possibly getting into the video game? One of the reasons I bought the 57 was the ability to do video. Now we can do it with the SL1 and Traktor could try to get in the video game as well. A little frustrating considering no updates on Serato's end. What are your thoughts?

? no updates? its pretty rock solid in a short amount of time (given the right hardware)

MIX Emen don't believe is their yet. But Serato can make it possible with a flick of a switch (ssl box). Maybe we will see it sooner then we thought with others getting involved. But their will always be others coming out. But the quality will usually reign.

Did you guys ever think that Mix Emergency may be made by Serato under a different name??
marx 10:39 PM - 19 December, 2008
it would be stable if it was :-)

but, i don't doubt if was personal that parted ways from serato.

Serato has the lock on stability. "Stable" isn't what I think of when I think of NI, so I don't care about Traktor.

Serato can stay ahead of the game by linking their audio and video features better. They've already got the system figured out, so now if they give us ways to stay focused on mixing audio and have the picture follow along (video FX linked to EQ and audio FX, etc), things will just get better.

yeah thats clear if Serato want to still be the leader in the future has the upgrade sl video

I am happy with Serato but still extremely disappointed. Yes it is stable but I am not able to compete with my Virtual DJ counterparts. After spending $1500 on the mixer $200 on Setato $1600 on CDJs $2300 on a Mac now I am looking to spend another $1500 for visuals and effects. This cost does not include time to refigure my recordcase because of the backward technology Serato uses and for small stuff like stands consoles and other software. My Virtual DJ console cost me $1000 and I was able to do lots more than what Serato can ever dream about doing.

I am happy for the stability and the feel of it, but other softwares are coming out which are much cheaper and user friendly and they are moving towards stability faster than Serato seems to be moving towards features.

In the video game all Serato has is a name.

Please Serato, prove me wrong, not with forum talk but with a product.

I agree 100%

Very happy with stability and feel of Serato but I do believe it's time for an update and quick.

Acutally it *is* pretty stable.

but last beta i tried was #2
nik39 3:40 PM - 22 December, 2008
It runs pretty much flawless. As good as VSL, if not better.
vinylmanipulator 11:57 PM - 22 December, 2008
better features though?
nik39 12:11 AM - 23 December, 2008
Right now.. yes.

Traktor doing video? I would like to see what they could come up with. . . Seeing as I can use Traktor Pro anytime for free.

Interesting topic! Serato has always been strong in the DJ world, but it's true — with newer platforms blending music and gaming, it might be losing ground if it doesn’t innovate fast. The crossover between entertainment types is evolving super fast.

Kind of like how anime lovers are turning to specialized apps now. For example, I use Anime Slayer to stream anime with Arabic subtitles theanimeslayer.pro super convenient with fast updates and offline viewing. Just like Serato might need to adapt, users are shifting toward platforms that cater to their exact needs.

Would love to hear others’ thoughts on where Serato might head next!

Interesting observation—Serato has long been a leader in the DJ software space, but with newer platforms integrating more advanced video features and performance tools, it’s clear the competition is heating up. Apps that blend gaming elements with music mixing are attracting a younger, tech-savvy audience, which might be where Serato is starting to feel the pressure.

On a side note, if you're customizing your DJ name, stream overlay, or even in-game profile, you might find stylish-names.net useful. It converts regular text into bold, fancy, and aesthetic styles—perfect for standing out in both creative and competitive spaces.

If you’re the Sun in the Snapchat planet system, the closest planet to you will be Mercury. Mercury represents the friend with whom you’ve shared the most snaps and chats. Similarly, Venus will be your 2nd closest friend, and this pattern continues for the other planets. snapplanetshub.com

It’s clear Serato Video played a key role in shaping visual performance tools, but the lack of recent innovation is starting to show especially as creators look for more dynamic and responsive platforms. Exploring how other digital experiences evolve could offer valuable insights. One interesting example is a fast-growing volleyball game that’s gaining traction among niche communities, check it out at thespikegame.com.
