How to make Waveoforms larger?

Dj Gavin 9:39 PM - 21 September, 2013
Hello all,

In Serato DJ, is there anyway I can expand the waveforms, making it longer or bigger?

Thanks!

Hi DJ Gavin,

Have you tried pressing the + and - buttons to enlarge the waveforms?

Cheers

was it not the audio cache setting that increased the length of the horizontal wavefroms... I've always used vertical but think I remember something about that way back when it was added to SSL.

Serato dj must get the same wave lenght as in ssl ( vertical )
boabmatic 8:30 AM - 2 October, 2013
yeah you cant extend the vertical waveforms but in SSL you could extend the horizontal ones

Even though you can't extend it in vertical view, it's still longer in ssl....gonna be weird for most ssl users, not to mention the complains that lies ahead.

Ahhh.. I understand what you are saying now, the waveform overviews are located above the decks instead of next to the main waveform like with Scratch Live. This was a design change with Serato DJ. It was requested that the tracks waveforms stayed in a static place near the track deck regarding of which view you are in.

There are a few people requesting this to be modified in the feature suggestion area, so I would suggest posting in there to show your concern for changing the waveform view > serato.com

We cant guarantee that we implement all features that are requested, but we aim to provide the most universal solution for fixing as many issues as we can while still improving the software.

So looks of software wins over the use for djing! That sucks just so you have the overview all in the same place to "too nice" thousands of users that have now had there dj flow mixed up the "it looks nice" won amd you changed it!!! Epic Fail! Dont turn sdj into itch a failed product!! Sigh!!!

Also the new overviews the minuet marks are so thin and small there unreadable so now thats another thing messed up!!

But hey to serato hq "it looks nice"

Sdj stepping foward, Serato staff step it back in itch gui diection!! Grrrrrr

It was more than making it look nice. We had numerous feature requests to move the overview waveform away from the main waveform so its more distinguishable and separate from each other. This way the overview waveform is attached to the deck area and is always in the same place, making it more constant for the user throughout views (ITCH waveforms moved around a lot between views).

Im sorry that you feel that this is a step backward, but unfortunately changing it is out of my hands. If you wish to start a feature suggestion to change it back to the old style, please feel free to do so here > serato.com

Can you send me a picture of what you mean? I'm looking at the overviews in Horizontal/Vertical mode in both 1.3 vs 1.5, and they're identical to me. Show me what you mean and we'll go from there.

Sorry Logan, only having chit chat in the threads. I have not started any my self.

I think others have already done screen shots of the changes of the overviews.

I think the issue is you have just made it to small now.

I personally have loved Serato Dj its why i am so gobbed smacked at why you are now trying to mess around with it now.
I think someone at serato got to excited.

I think we can wait untill ssl to sdj beta 1.6 for this to be argued alot more as it will.

You had feature requests to move the overview? I guess that would be from itch users? I my self coming from ssl HATED itch just like most others hence why you scrapped it. I do also see why you have decided to move the overview to make all views uniform which is great if they was all horizontal but the virtical view needs tove virtical.

Look foward to people power changing it back to a view that has worked for years and years.

Cheers. P.s and sorry you hate this nagging but dont try and fix something that isnt broke.

No ones arguing. You'll likely see vertical mode changed back in an update :)

Why not make it another pull-down option in "Display Modes"??
CLASSIC VERTICAL
That way everyone can be content with what they already know and the NuSkoolers won't complain when you potentially change it back<
I too have to admit I've been pretty miserable using my brand new DJ-SR even on a 17" MacBook Pro with the short waveform displays since I came from the external Rane 1 box using Technics 1200s.
On a positive note for vinyl lovers, not making the option available is keeping vinyl alive since I have many Dj friends that feel so strongly about the cramped waveforms that they're still using turntables just so they can use the older versions of Serato. Ironic?
Maybe another "Display Mode" option will sell more bundled controllers to stubborn half-blind oldschoolers like me...Huh.
Your move Serato.
