Im debating between these two speakers.. If you guys in this forum can help to get me to decide for either one would be great... Looking for a great speaker thats sounds clear and excellent for indoor venues and outdoor parties... Also if they over heat when under a hot place ... Thanks for any feedback...

Thanks gilbert jacinto... I went to my local store and heard both speakers and from what i heard the QSC K12s had more of a highs the lows and the evs have more bang and the highs as well... But many say the QSCs are the best but inwould like to know in what so it can make me decide for them... The guy at my local store also said that with the qsc k12 you would have to buy a sub so then it would sound excellent ...

You'll need a sub, man. My suggestion would be to purchase 12" cabinets along with subs. That would get ya started to handle "big parties". Even those 15's will struggle by themselves.
Qsc vs EV is your call. I heard both and went with qsc because I preferred the sound, the 6 year warranty and the fact they are manufactured 20 minutes from my home in case I need to send them in for repairs.

I heard both at my local store and qsc k12 only heard more highs and mid than lows and the EVs overall heard great and great bass... The guy at my atore told me for the qsc i would have to buy a sub for them so i can hear the real sound that everyone says the qsc gives...

Imo, qsc is the way to go due to their track record. Take a look at the kw152 cabinet. If you do plan on buying a sub then go with the kw122.
Check out the EV zxa5 too. Much pricier (about $3k a pair) but one of the best powered tops for mobile sound. Although, for that kinda money you can get two quality tops AND a sub or two that will work well for your parties.

I still don't understand why people insist on comparing brands with two different size speakers.

Between the 2 choices, qsc. But seriously, if you have a chance, take a listen to the yamahas, for the reasons rebelguy stated.

Well, I think dude is worried about a total solution. If his dollars are tight and he can't afford a sub, the better solution would probably be the EV ELX115P because they'll sound more full range, standalone, in comparison to the QSC K12 standalone solution.
A direct speaker comparison between these two is not apples-to-apples... the ELX115P vs. the KW15 is a direct comparison.
If dude wants the better long-term solution, it's easily the K12 over the ELX115P. You get two light 12" tops now and add the QSC KW181 for bass when the budget permits. You then have good speakers that have a 6-year warranty and good resale value.

Keep in mind like someone above posted, if you go the ELX route, be prepared to budget for some speaker covers. Without them, your ELX's wood will chip/dent like crazy and the grills are very thin.

I own the EV 115's and 112's. They both sound great and I can't say anything bad about them. Ok, maybe except for def needing covers for them..but I'd keep the k12's covered too. The k12's are real good but I do feel they can be painfully shrill when pushed. I will also second the Yamaha drx or dsx series...awesome speakers but those EV's are solid competitors for way less.

I find the k12s have decent bass for about 100 tops (and that's more for your corporate/wedding type gigs) but any more and you'll want a sub...

I own 4 EV ELX115Ps. I just came home from DJing a corporate party for one of the Microsoft divisions in Seattle. 300+ people all mingling around a large room with very high ceiling (like more than 30 feet high, it was in a museum)...I only used two ELX115P speakers. The master volume was at 3 o'clock position, the line volume was only at about 1 o'clock position with plenty of headroom on my mixer. Full range and flat EQ setting. Both speakers facing the dancefloor that's maybe 12' x 12' with anywhere from 10-30 people dancing (corporate gig on a weekday, not too poppin').
The EVs were loud, punchy and clear. Acoustics of the room was definitely not great, but it was so loud that I did not even need my monitor speaker which I normally use. Mixer's master volume and line trim volume did not exceed 12 o'clock position. Speakers were only warm to the touch at the end of the night. Even if there were much more people dancing, the EVs would still do the job, without sub(s).
I play on a QSC K12 system on the weekends at a lounge. Room size about 30' x 15'. Two K12s hooked up to two QSC KW181 subs. Anywhere from 20-80 people dancing or mingling around. It sounds great, especially with a Rane 62 mixer.
QSC K/KW12 series are top notch, but the EV Live X 15" sound just as good and maybe even better (depends on whose opinion influences you). But I don't believe you would be disappointed with either brand/model.

I have two Elx115p's. for the price they are hard to beat. I have played on qsc 12's and they are deff nice and slightly better speaker quality wise - but lack low end, and the price diff doesn't make up for it. The jbl 615ms are nice too but unless you can get a good deal on them your better of with the other two options mentioned.
As everyone has said, get covers if you can, they scratch and chip super easy (im thinking of rhino lining mine). If you have money to blow, I'd go with the zxa5 or xlf jbls. If you can't afford a sub with either setups, EV's deff have a fuller sound.

For that matter, I used to own them as well. I let my KJ use them for Karaoke gigs. My boy DJ'd my wedding with only a pair and they were very adequate and sounded really full. The ballroom we were in was huge and approximately 140 people attended. The dance floor had a good 70 on it. I sold them because I had too many speakers and let the KJ run with my RCF 312A's.
BTW, I had Tuki covers for my EV's @ $65 each.

I have the EV'S and so far no problems. I used them once with a sub & once without. Never has the limit light came on & I was pushing them hard. But I'm trying to get feed back on the EV Sub, I don't think they work as good as the 115p's

Hi, I am DJ Sweet Lady Jay, I am in the market to buy two(2) powered speaker's and I am leaning towards the QSC's K 12s. Currently, I have four (4) Mackie 450's and Two (2) 1501's.
I want to use my subs underneath the K 12's I want to know if my subs will be sufficient to enhance my sound. My speakers are for sale Four speakers for $1200.00....email me if interested... Wandabutler101@gmail. com

I think the Yamaha DXRs sound nicer and are also cheaper and have a better warranty than the K12s these days.
The only real plus of the K12s is they are pretty time tested and they are built in the US rather than China.

Best buy would be K10s and a some kind of sub… If you're looking to make the most return for investment and you're looking for bang for buck while looking under 1.5k then the K12s are your best bet. I know this is old, but thought some people would have a look at this since we all go thru it at some point.
