That last thread got dead'd so I thought I'd start another.
New editions to my currents include:
"Pop Champagne" - Ron Browz feat. Jim Jones (Autotune, yes but VeRy dope, especially when the off-sync beat kicks in)
"By My Side" - Jadakiss feat. Ne-Yo (solid track, great for the clubs. I'm gonna push this)
"So Fly" - Slim (112) (not the newest but still holds strong on the dancefloor)
"Live your Life" - T.I. feat. Rihanna (noisy production. I don't like it but the ladies request it).
"Miss Independent" - Ne-Yo (ladies and guys get into this one)
"Talk" - Timbaland feat. T-Pain (good club filler)

I think they did it on purpose. I played it for the 1st time last night at the club (early) but with a a good amount on the dancefloor. The looked a little lost at 1st but when that off-beat kick came on, I saw some extra a$$ shakin'. I played it almost all the way out, and they caught on. I ended up playing it again at the end of the night and got some extra peeps making their way to the floor for it.

I don't play in a club every weekend, but I did 2 parties at a club on back to back Saturdays. The first Saturday was a few days after Jeezy was here on the radio and played every cut (almost) from the album. Like 4 people requested it so I played it. The next Saturday, I played it without being asked and the crowd was singing along, so they definitely know and like it! I like it too so it's in rotation now. I'd rather hear that than Donk, but I love what the ladies do when Donk come on!!!

Thanks Rebel and Yeah, I know what you mean about this TI track... I play alot of my own edits of songs... With the Live Your Life one, I have 2 edits... 1 that has an intro and goes straight into the hook then back out, no TI lyrics... My favorite one has an intro and goes into Rihanna's last verse:
Got everbody watching what I do
come walk in my shoes
and see the way Im livin if you really want to
got my mind on my money
and Im not goin awaaay
So keep on getting ya paper and keep on climbing
looking in the mirror and keep on shining
till the game ends till the clock stop
we gonna post up on the top spot
then the hook plays then mix out.... TI dropped some cool introspective lyrics on that track that go way over any clubgoers head... This song reminds me of Damian Marley - Welcome To Jamrock, People just know the hook!

I have never really felt like playin it during a hype rideout...but it's one of those songs that works, even though it's slow and kinda mellow, just because it's a hit. Even Swagger like us doesn't have a club sound to it at all to me, and I remember the first time my boy played it and the crowd completely stopped dancing to it...but now they beg for it.

what the hell can you play with to go with John Legend? I got an uptempo remix, but its WAYYY uptempo...imagine all the extra mix show plays it would get if it fell between 80-128 bpm...
Glad i am not the only one playing the estelle its a good end of the nighter...been getting into hawaiian/reggae, played some at the end of the night the other day...
Someone asked for YA BOY at my spot on Sat - i said "whats that?" full on knowing what is was but knew I couldn't play...
Audio 1 - so many bay tracks?
Kid Cudi not on this page? weird
HOT for the crossover crowd...i force it down their throats

I used to drop Green Light out of sets that included 140-150 stuff, anything from Womanizer to even Ass & Titties... Lately, Ive got a nicce transition out of a 130 set into the 155 set for Green Light... Usually Hey Ya! works and some other stuff... Even Ramones - I Wanna Be Sedated works out of that set. then wind it into the 75-80 bpm set, knock em down and start it all over again.
For the Bay stuff, I think only Ya Boy and The Jacka are on that list. I usually never play bay stuff but those work in small dosages. Tell Me when to Go and stuff like I got 5 on it always work.... keeping it in moderation, of course...
On ocassion I'll play Day N Nite, the OG one... That one is still too underground, so the Crookers version always works best in an uptempo set.

OB - So Fresh Wes
Is this song really doing it? Anybody else from a different area playing this too?
The only reason I ask is because we have mutual people down the line. His camp has been putting in work and it would be a nice piece of news to relay back to them.

The new Keri and Timbo track should be the new The way I are. I played the video Wednesday night and a majority of the people were already feeling it and the ones that aren't will be begging for it in a month. The hook is catchy, plus I'm digging the way she looks.

Big Ali & Rohff - Dirty House
Lil Wayne - A Milli
R. Kelly - Bobble
Lady Gaga - Just Dance
DJ Size - Sunglasses
Flo Rida - Elevator
Flo Rida - Move Shake Drop
Everything from Magic Systeme (1er gaou, Un gaou a Oran, Zouglou, Kit di Mie, C Cho Ca Brule) <-- Very hot in Belgium
Laffy Taffy
Jay Sean - Ride it (old but people love it)
T-Pain - Can't Believe (especially the Justin Timberlake rmx)
Britney - Womanizer
Unk - Walk it out
I spin all the new songs aswell.. but belgian crowds are diffirent then the US crowds. Belgian people are way more into the House scene at the moment.. but there are some special R&B / Hip Hop clubs where you can spin the newest shit.. but in general.. it's way more house.

Question in regards to loading a track on the wrong deck.
If you have the lock on, but the club has a massive system and the decks are vibrating a bit, will it still lock if the tt is stopped or will the vibrations make it basically unable to lock? Will Serato read the deck as "stopped" if it's shaking a bit like that?

not it. i have the regular version (link you gave me) and the mick boogie version with boogie.
the one i want has santogold singing acapella for about 8 bars before the beat kicks in. and she's not saying brooklyn, brooklyn, brooklyn brooklyn we go hard. she's actually singing lyrics.

I wanted to like that song because of the hook, (voice is sexy)but Flo Rida is soooo weak.
The song I'm liking isn't really a club banger but more of a fun filler in between joints. "Rotate"was weak as shit but am getting excited about the CNN reunion for 09. I really hope this year mcs take back the helm and ringtone cRappers are forgotten.

Here in Milwaukee it's the other way around. The smaller places play house and the bigger venues and in between play hip pop. Drop anything resembling house or techno and that will be the last record that dj spins. I hate the scene here

You're speakin for YOUR city, and really YOUR preference.
Every city, and variation of crowds within cities are different. For me, I'm Hip Hop, R&B, Soul, Funk, etc etc...I have some homeboys who do spots that play Hip Hop/R&B along with House/Mashups/Electro, and then some do House/Mashups/Electro and nothing else. It's a large city, and there are enough crowds for spots to specialize in 1-2 main sounds.
No need for the false elitism here.

Nope, neither. I've been working as a DJ for over 15 years. I'm thinking about switching to DVS, so lately I've been lurking around these forums in order to acquaint myself with SL. Didn't mean to offend anyone, it just seemed very strange that all posts in this thread mentioned hiphop, so that's why I asked if any SL users here spin other type of genres. The most popular clubs here in Chicago (Vision, Crobar, Soundbar and other) won't touch hiphop and there have been cases of DJ's losing their gigs when they started playing it. I realize that many DJ's/venues have no choice if they want to satisfy their audience in the mainstream trap, but again, I was really surprised at the fact that all posts here were about hiphop, that's all.

Well, the posts being a microcosm of what working DJ's are playing should give you an indication of what percentage of DJ's are playing hip hop. I've played everything from hip hop to rock to house. I've had crowds lose their minds when I dopped a house song, but for the most part, I get many more requests for top-40 than I do for EDM. I've also played out nationwide. Believe me, most clubs are playing top-40 and hip hop.

WE GET IT! You listen to "REAL HIP HOP". Well here's a clue. SO DO WE. Dumba$$.
We know the difference between a club banger and a track for the heads. We are DJ's. This is what we do!

Dont let them get to you man, let them go to their fancy clubs with their 'customers'. I keep it real with my hip-hop, as a rule I NEVER play ANYTHING people WANT to hear cause if someone wants to hear it then its half way to played out. I just put in my gang-star\wu-tang mixtape and press play and repeat haha
Seriously it sucks but the fact that a song is OVERPLAYED and overREQUESTED, may tip you off that alot of people want to hear it, and when you work in a club your main goal should be to keep the crowd happy and dancing with music they want to hear. As a DJ your going to get sick of it quick but alot of club goers dont spend hours a day and night listening to the track like we do co cut em a lil slack.

If you can't see it in the list of available releases then it probably means that you live outside of the USA or Canada.

Nothin new has really been poppin too much here. The young crowds like garbage like D-Lo - No hoe (I think it's worst than Soulja Boy and Stanky Legg) and this track from the New Boyz or somethin called "Your a jerk"....no, not "you're" a jerk but "your" a jerk. The beat is typical Bay sounding and goes hard for the new dances we got here, but it's definitely not "dope" like that.

Oh how the music has changed over the years. Before everyone jumped on the "electro" bandwagon and I was made fun of for liking that stuff.
