The next Saturday, I played it without being asked and the crowd was singing along, so they definitely know and like it! I like it too so it's in rotation now. I'd rather hear that than Donk, but I love what the ladies do when Donk come on!!!

I have never really felt like playin it during a hype rideout...but it's one of those songs that works, even though it's slow and kinda mellow, just because it's a hit. Even Swagger like us doesn't have a club sound to it at all to me, and I remember the first time my boy played it and the crowd completely stopped dancing to it...but now they beg for it.

I used to drop Green Light out of sets that included 140-150 stuff, anything from Womanizer to even Ass & Titties... Lately, Ive got a nicce transition out of a 130 set into the 155 set for Green Light... Usually Hey Ya! works and some other stuff... Even Ramones - I Wanna Be Sedated works out of that set. then wind it into the 75-80 bpm set, knock em down and start it all over again.

For the Bay stuff, I think only Ya Boy and The Jacka are on that list. I usually never play bay stuff but those work in small dosages. Tell Me when to Go and stuff like I got 5 on it always work.... keeping it in moderation, of course...

On ocassion I'll play Day N Nite, the OG one... That one is still too underground, so the Crookers version always works best in an uptempo set.

The last 2-3 months have sucked hard....there have barely been ANY new major songs to enter rotation at all. Everything big now was out 6-8 months ago, just that some of it took a while to build momentum.

The two big pushes for new music lately seem to come for summer and then back-to-school. Holiday releases aren't so big anymore these days.

Im just speaking for my small area of the country but WOW where have you been. Most clubs play hiphop now and most patrons will get PISSY if you play house, and youll empty out a place quick with trance.

I live in a major city (Chicago) and the best clubs here won't touch hiphop. Lounges and smaller bars are different story, but most play a mix of uptempo dance, vocal/electro house, mashups and hiphop.

DJ Class - "I'm the ish" Most requested track right now for me.

Here in Milwaukee it's the other way around. The smaller places play house and the bigger venues and in between play hip pop. Drop anything resembling house or techno and that will be the last record that dj spins. I hate the scene here

You're speakin for YOUR city, and really YOUR preference.

Every city, and variation of crowds within cities are different. For me, I'm Hip Hop, R&B, Soul, Funk, etc etc...I have some homeboys who do spots that play Hip Hop/R&B along with House/Mashups/Electro, and then some do House/Mashups/Electro and nothing else. It's a large city, and there are enough crowds for spots to specialize in 1-2 main sounds.

Nope, neither. I've been working as a DJ for over 15 years. I'm thinking about switching to DVS, so lately I've been lurking around these forums in order to acquaint myself with SL. Didn't mean to offend anyone, it just seemed very strange that all posts in this thread mentioned hiphop, so that's why I asked if any SL users here spin other type of genres. The most popular clubs here in Chicago (Vision, Crobar, Soundbar and other) won't touch hiphop and there have been cases of DJ's losing their gigs when they started playing it. I realize that many DJ's/venues have no choice if they want to satisfy their audience in the mainstream trap, but again, I was really surprised at the fact that all posts here were about hiphop, that's all.

Well, the posts being a microcosm of what working DJ's are playing should give you an indication of what percentage of DJ's are playing hip hop. I've played everything from hip hop to rock to house. I've had crowds lose their minds when I dopped a house song, but for the most part, I get many more requests for top-40 than I do for EDM. I've also played out nationwide. Believe me, most clubs are playing top-40 and hip hop.

I agree with JC on this^^^ If you want to find out genres of music try making another thread. Me personally i been to all types of clubs, but Top 40 is the most played out. Hell couldn't tell you what's hot in the EDM world.. But you're more than welcome to post up YOUR club bangers.. And on that note i'm feeling
